Okay, so we all know that many of Rowanclaw's Clanmates considered him to be a weak leader, but does anyone else think that maybe this resentment may have started all the way back in Bramblestar's Storm?
Rowanclaw became leader after Blackstar had died in a flood, so he had to take care of a weakened Clan right after a disastrous event, and then there's also his daughter Dawnpelt about to give birth to her first litter (ignoring that those same kits were new apprentices in TAQ), so I imagine he was possibly stressed out during this time. Tawnypelt telling Bramblestar what was going in in ShadowClan probably didn't help matters, either. After all, he had alot to live up to after Blackstar died, and ThunderClan getting involved not long after becoming leader? This would've likely been seen as a weakness.
Rowanstar never asked ThunderClan for help, but they did anyway and he begrudgingly agreed to the addition of a new code. Imagine how his prideful Clanmates would've perceived this, and suddenly it doesn't seem all that surprising if this resentment had been going on ever since then, with the older cats unintentionally inspiring the younger ones to rebel and even going with them to join Darktail before Rowanstar is overthrown. This also explains why cats like Berryheart and Cloverfoot—cats who have been warriors for moons—join the Kin even before Darktail takes over, and why the other ShadowClan cats stayed; the sickness was simply the last straw for many of them. Sad as it is, it seems like Rowanstar was doomed to fail from the start; no matter what he did, his Clanmates were never going to be satisfied.
I know I'm probably looking too deep into this, but still something to think about, I guess. And yes, that was indeed a Hamilton reference thrown in there.

I'm in total agreement. He was doomed to fall no matter how good of a leader he was, and it sucks. He deserved so much better.

Poor Rowanstar. He was never meant to succeed.
