Chuckling when she spotted the apprentice re-emerge, covered in feathers it looked as though the young cat was attempting flight herself, gesturing for the shecat to come closer. Thunderblossom had caught a further pair of mice as well as the earlier sparrow, and deciding that there was plenty enough prey for the time being, they might as well move on and do something else. “Shall we find a flat area to practice some battling techniques?” She asked, finishing burying her prey before turning her full attention to the warrior. Wrapping her long, black tail around her paws.

Ravenpaw's eyes lit up at the possibility of fighting. Finally! Something she could actually be excited about! She had vowed that she would hopefully be one of the strongest in the clan. Maybe now that could be possible? Only time would tell. She scampered over to her mentor and was scurrying around, clearly anxious. "Flat ground? Will an enemy want to fight on flat ground? Come on! We can just practice here!" she practically begged as she was sort of trying to get all the feathers out of her fur.

Rolling her eyes in frustration at the apprentice’s blatant disobedience to what had been a order, her patience slowly becoming more and more thin until the younger shecat was walking on largely thin ice.Ears twitching back, though not pinned it was clear that Thunderblossom, as sweet in nature as she usually was, was reaching her limits of frustration. Tail tip twitching, “Fine.” She said, lifting herself to her paws and moving a pawful of foxlengths away from the apprentice before turning back ad looking to Ravenpaw expectantly. “Attack me,” she said firmly.[

Was Ravenpaw smart enough to know that she was really testing her mentor's patience? Maybe. Was she smart enough to pick up on Thunderblossom's change of mood? Definitely not. Still, Ravenpaw looked over towards her mentor with a bit of a smirk. Now was her time to shine! She blindly lunged for the older warrior, at least she was smart enough to have sheathed claws as she barreled towards her.

(we really need a medi cat and apprentice XD deputy would be nice XD)
Having seen the apprentice’s blindness in an eager to lunge, the warrior deftly dodged left, the shecat missing her collision by the width of a hair. Amused and slightly happy that she had managed to show the apprentice up, though didnt say such aloud. Thunderblossom turned back to look at Ravenpaw with a twitch of her ears, “Perhaps try and think before you lunge next time?” The sarcasm admittedly rolled of her tongue, but she kept the smugness to a minimum at the very least. “Try again,” she said firmly, tail tip twitching, judging her apprentice’s movements with every step.

The warrior chuckled lightly and nodded at Pantherfrost completely understanding the feeling. There was nothing more nerve-wracking than to have another cat's knowledge in your paws. It would be up to you to mold and shape them into a warrior the whole Clan could be proud of. It was a very daunting task if you really thought about it, but his words came out more reassuring than his musings. "It's only scary for a few days," Cedarfang assured him, "After that, it feels sort of... second nature." At his apprentice's words, the tom raised an eyebrow. "Well, I suppose you just figured out your task for today all by yourself." Shaking out his pelt, the warrior gave one last stretch, green eyes closing briefly, and then he set off leading the way. Once through the camp's entrance he took off, heading straight for the Broken Oak, calling over his shoulder, "Don't come back to camp without a bird for Duskstep!"

(Yeaaaa... I totally nominate Pantherfrost as a candidate for deputy, maybe he has a rivalry with Charedfrost, or any other candidate? Ya know, drama and such? Lol)
Ravenpaw tumbled into the ground, totally eating dirt as she missed her mark. She coughed up some grass before growling softly at Thunderblossom. "You did that on purpose." She accused coldly before slowly stalking around her mentor. If only she could just... Ravenpaw tensed before darting towards Thunderblossom's side this time, hoping to at least bat at her side in an attempt to land a blow.

( I was considering a medicine cat apprentice but wasn't sure about it xD I also have another old oc. He has a dark personality and would fit in for a dark forest role well. )

(t would be helpful, and I like that idea RM, Charredfrost would almost definitely be that kind of cat XD)
“Then stop being mousebrained,” she told Ravenpaw with a chuckle, before dodging again. Admittedly the apprentice had managed to land a blow against her flanks, and she grinned a little with pride that the apprentice had managed to batter at her mentor. Skidding left as her momentum nearly toppled the larger shecat over, she reared up, sparring with the smaller shecat for a few moments. Her movements careful and practiced to ensure she didn’t inadvertently injure the smaller cat, she pulled to a stop after a heartbeat and said with a smile. “Well done,” she said with a pant. Before adding, “As your smaller, try to keep your movements more compact and closer to your frame, it allows you to build up power behind the blows, and will help you battle against stronger cats.” She explained, pausing for a moment to catch her breath.

With the conversation returning back to normal, a sense of calm returned, the brief silence between the two comfortable enough. Darkclaw followed his clanmate's gaze, listening to the forest's melodies grow louder overhead. Life really was returning to the forest in full, prey was no longer as elusive. Snapped back into reality by Iceflame's voice, he nodded and let out a yawn. "I'm always ready," he mowed with determination in his tone. Rising to his paws, he gave one last stretch.

Pantherfrost let out another laugh. Leave it to Cedarfang to know how to put anyone at ease. "Thank you, I'll be sure to take that into consideration." He felt a little better about the prospect, but he knew deep down that he would want to be a good mentor to any young cat. That was what called to him the most. He doubted that he would be a decent father to any kit. Older, more earnest cats, seemed to intrigue him more. It was like Duskstep would usually say, "the young are the life of any clan". It was a strange way to look at apprentices, but it tended to ring true.

( If no one joins by the end of today, I'll make up a couple more characters when I can pull my laptop out.
Question though, if I made a medicine cat apprentice, what do you think of him/her being so insecure the dark forest influenced him/her into helping the them? )

On the agreement of his companion, the slender white tom lifted himself to his paws with a stretch of his small frame, the bones in his legs cracking one by one as he did so, before making his way towards the path leading from camp. The sound of the waterfall covering much of camp made conversation more difficult as they moved forward and out from camp, and into the forest on the other side. As the sound of birdsong grew stronger, and the sound of wind began to whi around them. For once the sun was shining overhead, and Iceflame took a moment to enjoy its warmth on his pale pelt. “Where do you want to go?” Iceflame asked now they were free from camp and he could hear the tom.

(Charredfrost would likely be passive aggressive about the situation too! Lol) Such a comment about her being mouse-brained injured her pride. Ravenpaw hissed a little at that while trying to be a lot more aggressive, her attacks becoming more frequent, despite the fact it was making her a lot more winded. Still, once Thunderblossom let up with her own attacks, the two she-cats panted considerably. The young apprentice hadn't had that intense of a practice battle in a while. It felt pretty good, but all she could do was nod in acknowledgement. "Good." She breathed out. Keeping close? She knew that she would need to be faster than most of the bulkier cats. That much was clear to her.

Once she had caught her breath again, it didnt take too long as she was a practiced warrior and was used to this sort of thing, but was aware her apprentice was probably less so due to her being younger. For a moment, she was distracted, catching something on the wind she couldn’t quite place, but for the time being Thunderblossom dismissed it, looking back to her apprentice, she swished her long tail. “Try again,” she said firmly. Backing away a few steps so that she could figure out what she was going to do.

Ravenpaw knew well enough that she wouldn't have the luxury of resting in the middle of a battle. Still, she was more or less winded and feeling a little lazy. A strange scent on the wind? The apprentice ignored it and didn't make much more of it. It likely wasn't suspicious, and Thunderblossom seemed to pay no mind to it. Ravenpaw took a relatively firm stance as she moved towards her mentor, determined to apply the advice she heard. She braced herself as she moved in, aiming for her leg and flank once more, but trying to keep out of reach with being a little faster than her mentor.

Mreowing in amusement as the shecat once again pummelled away at her, the warrior in truth was enjoying some light sparring. Not only did it allow her some practice in a friendly environment, but she had grown to enjoy teaching the younger cat, even if she was rather difficult in nature. The warrior ducked left, ignoring the blows landed to her ears as she did so, and lunged. Tackling the shecat so that now Ravenpaw found herself pinned under the larger cat. Looking down at the dark furred shecat, Thunderblossom now changed her teaching tactics. “Now, how do you get out of a larger cat pinning you down?” She challenged with a playful grin.

Grey whiskers twitching, Cedarfang scented the air, basking in the glow of realization that prey really was running plentifully. Following Frostpaw's suit, the older tom crouched low and trailed off through the undergrowth following a scent. His body stiffened when he heard scuffling paws and he held still, his tail lifted from the ground. Just ahead was a vole, completely unaware of the danger just beside it. With calculated steps, the cat drew nearer the prey until finally he was close enough to pounce. In one graceful motion, he landed atop the prey, nipping it's neck in a swift twist. He purred at his achievement and trotted ahead towards Broken Oak, burying it in the earth just outside of the clearing. The large tom found a patch to sit down in and curled his tail around his paws, waiting for his apprentice and Pantherfrost to arrive.

Ravenpaw hissed indignantly as she scrambled around. With her reckless nature, of course it hadn't been long until she had gotten herself pinned down. Great. Under battle circumstances, she would have most definitely gotten killed. Just a quick bite to the throat. That would have been the end of her. She let out a little huff while wriggling some more. "Don't patronize me!" She squeaked out ad she proceeded to use her back legs to kick at Thunderblossom's chest as if that would get her to not pin her down any longer.

"Let's check out the west side of the territory," he responded with a shrug, a slight question tacked to the tone of his voice. He wasn't entirely sure what had been patrolled already this morning, if anything. Nose twitching, he scented the air, mouthwatering trails seemed to permeate everything and the revelation left Darkclaw feeling completely at ease. As the two set off in the forest, one light and one a trailing shadow, the black tom's tail swished slowly through the air. The sun's light was warming him from the outside in, something that had been missing for the past few moons. Darkclaw basked happily in his patch of warmth as he walked through the forest.

Pantherfrost took his sweet old time for a moment, prey was plenty, and ripe for the taking. It wasn't long before he spied a robin preening itself on a tree root. He crouched low while skulking towards it with deadly intent. Once he was a foxlength away, he lunged for the kill, keeping the bird silent before it was able to let out a warning call. Good. He held the prize in his jaw before carrying it off towards Broken Oak, seeing Cedarfang. He gave a nod of acknowledgement before promptly burying the kill so he wouldn't leave it out to rot. "Good hunting? Frostpaw shouldn't be long, maybe he found that bird for Duskstep."

Amused at the shecats attempts to stop being pinned, she grumbled at an ill aimed kick which slammed into her jaw but otherwise seemed mostly unharmed from Ravenpaw’s attempts to free herself. Amused, she for now resisted the urge to tickle her apprentic’es fluffy underbelly, for the young shecat was still rather fluffy and downy due to age, but she maintained a professional outlook. “Your not a kit, Ravenpaw, you’ve been trained. Now concentrate, how would you get out of being pinned if you were fighting someone less kind than your amazing mentor,” she said playfully. In truth wanting the shecat to use her smaller size to wriggle out, as opposed to force her way upwards which might have worked had the apprentice been a bigger cat. ——————————————————————————————————
Nodding in agreement with the warrior, te trek would be along one as to get there they either had to skirt the Drowned Marsh, or do their best to wade through it, neither of which were an especially easy task. Thankful in that moment for the fact he had a sleeker pelt than most, so the sun wouldn’t affect him as much as it would his clanmates, he briefly felt a squirm of pity for the dark furred tom, but said nothing. They rarely pitied him during the cold season when he was freezing his tail off due to such a sleek pelt. He grinned, playfulness lighting his tone. “Race you to the drowned marsh?” He challenged.

Ravenpaw hissed once more, clearly annoyed and a lot more frustrated that her kicking attempt had been futile. Her eyes narrowed in concentration, trying to rack her brains into finding out how could she possibly get herself out of this struggle. She gave another kick to her mentor's chest, then proceeded to wriggle around more to the point she figured her small size would held her in slipping away. Good. She scrambled like crazy until she managed to slip away and back onto her feet, her fur bristling as if she was a rogue.

All but beaming with pride when the shecat had finally succeeded in freeing herself from Thudnerblossom’s careful grip, the warrior settled herself in the long grass with a twitch of her long black tail. “Well done!” She congratulated, shaking the burrs from her fur that had become accumulated in it from her brief sparring session with Ravenpaw. “You’d have been long dead had I been an actual enemy,” she mentioned with a teasing tone. “But if you remember that next time, you’ll do really well.” Thunderblossom said firmly.

Ravenpaw's tail twitched a little at her criticism, but let out a quiet little huff while she was starting to smooth her fur down. Ugh. She shook herself out while she lashed her tail a couple more times, soon sitting down and struggling not to flop over from her own fatigue. "Fine, whatever." She said as more of an afterthought. The last thing she needed was to admit that she was actually learning from her mentor.

Rolling her eyes, she said with a slightly annoyed tone, “You can smile every once in a while you know?” She said with a grumble to her voice, moving back to where she’d left her prey and unburying it before returning to her apprentice. “It wouldn’t kill you to be cheery every once in a while, Ive seen even Charredfrost grin every once in a couple of moons,” she explained but left it at that. Not wanting to annoy her apprentice any further, knowing that would be beneficial to neither of them if she did, “Let’s get back to camp, I’m sure the clan will enjoy this feast we bring back to them.”
