A massive storm strikes and Screechleaf, Smokeweed, and Skycloud are killed. The camp is flooded and Hollowlife sacrifices her life to save one of the queens. Before her death Oakstar renames her Hollowcloud in honor of her sacrifice. Ravenpaw earns her full medicine cat name after her mentor's death.

The Clan finds their new home but before they can settle they run into a small group of cats living on the territory. The group offers a compromise to let them stay on their land as long as they are allowed to join the clan. Oakstar agrees and the cats join and are given warrior names.
Now finally settled Rainpaw and Mottledpaw earn their warrior names and Salamandertail gives birth to her kits.

Oakstar sees the original Hollycloud in a dream. She tells him that there is a certain cat in the Clan that cannot be trusted, but she will help guide him and another cat in the Clan to eliminate the threat. When he wakes up, Oakstar decides to go out hunting to clear his head. However, whilst out hunting, he falls off a cliff and loses a life.

It is found out the second Holly cloud's kit deadgaze was the can't be trusted cat. Deadgaze goes insane he slice oakstar's neck causing him to lose a life, deadgaze is exile for trying to kill oakstar

Pepperlion gives birth to 4 kits. However during the night all but one kit goes missing from the camp.The clan searches for the kits around the territory but they seemingly are nowhere to be found. Pepperlion searches day and night for her missing kits and dies from exhaustion a short time after their disappearance. Rainheart is heartbroken from the loss of her kits and mate and moves to the nursery to take care of her last remaining kit. Wisspaw's apprenticeship is transferred to Thrushpool.

It is discovered that Deadgaze was actually being possessed by the spirit of a Dark Forest cat, and he is actually innocent. Deadgaze is found in the territory caring for Pepperlion and Rainheart's two other kits, the third missing kit, Heartkit, having died of hunger. All three move back to the Clan.

Russetpaw is noticibly becoming more and more anxious until one day she asks to become the medicine cat apprentice. She seems to have been forced to do so but the reason of how and why is currently unknown.
