The AppleClan teams are all eagerly chatting about their next move. However, Lionsky and Cloudmint feel as if they should return to the clan. While there is debate about giving up among the warriors, Wolfleaf seems to be enjoying the trip perhaps a little too much. She bonds with Frogleap, medicine cat apprentice of HollyClan. As the two are the only ones with medical knowledge on the journey, they have been healing everyone's minor injuries, not matter what clan they are from. Roseshard feels as though she sees something more than friendship in both of their gazes, but she says nothing.

Cloudmint returns to the Clan, at a time of mourning. The AppleClan cats are standing vigil for young Cobrapaw who had been hit by a monster, earlier that day. Mothstar scolds Cloudmint for abandoning the Clan, but it is our of respect for the fluffy she-cat that she does not do more. Cloudmint is informed that she’s the new deputy of AppleClan. She is also told of Bramblestripes death, the majority of her litter being still-born, and now the death of her final kit. Kingflame seems to be holding himself well, but seems more held-together when Cloudmint mentions that Wolfleaf is alive and well. (Well, the less cats there are to feed, the less cats you need to hunt for. That's my logic, anyway. Besides, if you want to get it over with, just reply and make suggestions for what happens next on the hunt.) (I have no idea what to do with the hunt as it was not my plotline, so I cannot envision the main goal, hence why I’ve been staying away from it. If that was the case, there is nothing stopping all of the hunting cats to be exiled for abandoning their Clans) |

(They can't really be exiled, as they couldn't have left without permission from the leader. And no medicine cat would leave their Clan without making sure at least one fully trained medicine cat was left behind.)
The group arrives at the moor, and Longflight and Mistpaw find a small key hidden in the grasses. Despite there being multiple other scents at the location, the key is rusted and unused. They find a small Twoleg den nearby, and manage to unlock the door.
