I agree to some extent. I DO see the parallels, but I have to say that the Dark Forest is not as good as Al Queda was at stirring the people up and messing with our emotions. The Dark Forest was a wasted opportunity in that sense.
However, what I DO see is a cult. The Dark Forest is absolutely a cult. They lure people in with the promise of something (training.) At first they use friendship and comradeship to make the cats feel like they are a part of something. Then, when they are in too deep, the facade drops, and indoctrination and fear takes hold. It is almost impossible to leave.
But seriously, this is a great analysis. I don't read many big pists, but this made me think a bit.
