Hello again! It's Hawktalon,! Welcome to my sixth comic! KINGDOM COME!
Background Info:
There are three Clans, founded in the past by the Three Brothers. The Clans live on an Alaskan landscape, and look to the frequent auroras as their spiritual ancestors and guidance. They use brightly colored dyes in ceremonies and to paint records of the past on walls.
MountainClan: lives on the northernmost and middle-sized mountain. Their camp is in the impact crater of an ancient meteor. They have adapted longer, thick fur pelts to withstand the cold mountain air.
FrozenClan: lives on and around a waterfall/river system that pools around the mountains. The water freezes in colder months, and this Clan has adapted sharper claws to cut through the ice and catch fish.
TundraClan: lives on the grassy tundra plains in front of the mountains. They have adapted larger, furry paws to run fast and keep their feet warm.
There are four Kingdoms of Winged cats that live in the skies. They are quite advanced compared to the Clans, being able to read and write, smelt and smith metals, and to use weapons. They also have the ability to turn their wings transparent at will by bending light around their feathers. However, if a winged cat is hiding the truth or is lying in some way, there is a chance that the light of the moon will turn their wings to a dragon-esque form and horns will sprout from their head.
The Eastern Kingdom: The largest of the four, the unofficial governing body of the skies. Names and culture based on Greek mythology, but has some Roman influences, such as a Coliseum.
The Western Kingdom: Smaller than the Eastern Kingdom. Names and culture based on Roman mythology.
The Northern Kingdom: The smallest of the four. Cats from here are huge and have thick fur and large wings. Names and culture based on Norse mythology.
The Southern Kingdom: Smaller than the Western Kingdom, but not as small as the Northern. Cats here are small and lithe, with wings built for speed. Names and culture based on Egyptian mythology.

This is a continuation of the overarching Hawktalon, Comic Saga. It follows shortly after the events of my third comic, The Unforgiven. It is recommended that you read all five comics before reading Kingdom Come, but if nothing else, it is highly suggested you at least read The Unforgiven.
The page schedule is tentatively saturdays! If a page is not uploaded on its scheduled day, it will be on the day after OR on the next scheduled day!

Anyway, Crowheart's gonna narrate some stuff for the next few pages to get you all caught up on what's happened since The Unforgiven! Narration is in square boxes!

He's named after Tigerfoot, Nightstar's old mate. I think Tigerfoot had a sister who had kits and it went down the line to our current Tigerpaw eventually)

Uh-oh. The next scene that takes place in FrozenClan camp was originally going to happen in MountainClan, but then I thought "I want to draw FrozenClan camp" so I changed it. It's like I always say about comics: have it all planned, but still flexible enough to change if you want it to!

I decided to do a different shading color for a new setting. MountainClan's was purple, FrozenClan gets turquoise! TundraClan will probably be green and anything in the sky will be blue. For convenience, Gatherings will probably stay purple... Oh and look! You guys were excited about seeing Fogpaw again, so here she is! She's Fogwind now, and she's chatting with Amberdance, who was in The Unforgiven for a bit, but I redesigned her.

I wonder if that'll become a major theme or something later? Probably not *wink wink* Oh and I keep forgetting to mention that Tigerpaw isn't the first cat to leave FrozenClan. So Nightstar takes it personally cuz of that and also because of her and Tigerpaw's familial ties. As she sees him as a traitor, she'd rather have him leave and join MountainClan than stay and mess up her Clan

This is gonna be a really pretty chapter I can already tell. And it seems as though our Crow boy is testing the moon. Cuz remember how there's a chance that winged cats might turn into a dragon-esque form if they're hiding a secret and then moonlight touches them? Yeah. That's why. It's kind of a retcon for me saying that there's only a chance but the whole thing in general was never really elaborated on in BW, so I can do what I want.

The original name of this chapter was "The Death of the King" but I decided to do a little homage to The Dragon Prince, since that and KC are already similar enough. Also, that Greek word on the book means 'history' (directly translated as 'fabulous history' actually)

Blue shading/lining for the Cloud Kingdom! It was very fun to come back to after like two years. And we get to see new and old characters! Aurora (the Queen) is from Skyfall/Broken Wings, Daedalus is new, but may look a bit familiar from the trailer, and Arachne is new! The other two palace guards are cameos from folks on DA! If you have an OC, you can try them out for a cameo here! (also the clay pots are traditional in ancient Greek funerals, esp the thin whiteish one which is called a lekythos)

The infiltration that Daedalus is talking about is of course the events from Skyfall. And if you remember, there are two types of Guards: Royal Guards (who wear chestplate-esque armor like Arachne here) who guard the palace/royal family, and Border Guards (who have plumed helmets, they can be seen in TU) who guard the borders between Kingdoms and are away from the palace itself most of the time.

I wasn't originally planning to show how the other Kingdoms looked but this page would be very boring otherwise. Anyway, the Western building is based on the Pantheon in Rome (it says "Occidentalis Regnum" on it, which according to Google Translate is "Western Kingdom" but I do not know Latin so I'll correct that if anyone else knows better). The Southern building is based on the temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel. And the Northern building is based on a Viking longhouse.

Since readers seemed a bit confused regarding 78- all winged cats have the ability to make their wings transparent at will by bending light around their feathers. Ariadne taught this to Mockingbirdpaw and Crowheart when they were younger. Winged cats can't fly while their wings are invisible- they are still there of course, but any major movement will disrupt the disappearance.

Within the discriminatory allegory that is Kingdom Come, TundraClan represents the people that treat other groups differently, though while not being outright hateful. It probably has a name in like studies and such, but it's basically being treated like an exhibit- something different and usually exotic, not falling in your definition of 'normal', something that has to be examined and questioned.

I took Ancient Greek for four semesters at college and... I forgot all of it. This is maybe 70-80% accurate, like proper grammar and endings and all. I tried guys, and it was hard. Luckily I still have my textbook. I also didn't want to establish Greek as an actual thing in my universe, so Ariadne just calls it Old, as in the Old Language. Just assume that whatever language (the english the comic is in) is like a universal Cat Language, probably a newer one than Ancient Greek. Anyway, the translations in order are- Percy: "Princess! I have a bad message..." Ariadne: "I am named Ariadne. Who are you by name?"also don't sue me marvel i had to make a black panther callback

He and Tigerpaw are both nice guys, but even they have their limits, exhibit B being Percy's insult here: it means barbarian, but was traditionally used in ancient greece to describe anyone who wasn't greek. I would think winged cats would think that way of earth cats, especially with exhibit A earlier of Tigerpaw being rude (EDIT: fixed spelling)

According to my research, a lot of ancient Egyptian armor is mostly cloth? There were some scale plates and stuff, and when the whole Ptolemies thing happened, of course Roman-looking stuff got introduced. I haven't played Assassin's Creed Origins (I am playing Odyssey tho and it's Great) but the visual direction for Lysandra's armor was inspired by images from that game. And again, Lysandra is a cameo from DA

Our five main characters actually correspond to the various roles in the traditional Five Man Band trope. Percy is the Big Guy, but that doesn't mean he can't have Smart Guy ideas. And also here's finally a good opportunity to show how while winged cats do have claws, they've adapted to get smaller since they don't use them as much as earth-cats do. They think its primitive and uncivilized to use claws...

Vikings as we know them are actually not contemporary with other just-as-popular mythologies, like the ones I portray in KC. They're closer in time to medieval stuff, which explains the chainmail, etc. on Lífthrasir (another DA cameo) and also no horned helmets- I don't aim for perfect historical accuracy here but those are deffo not accurate. Lífthrasir is named after one of the last human survivors of Ragnarok (not the Thor movie)

I took Ancient Greek for four semesters at college and... I forgot all of it. This is maybe 70-80% accurate, like proper grammar and endings and all. I tried guys, and it was hard. Luckily I still have my textbook. I also didn't want to establish Greek as an actual thing in my universe, so Ariadne just calls it Old, as in the Old Language. The cat who's dead in the third panel is called Bonefur, and he was Skullstripe's dad, and Deputy before Dawnstripe. If I ever continue working on that fanfiction I'm doing about Lavenderstar (Lavenderstar's Code), he's mentioned in that.
