CACTUSCLAN scorpionstar: "Hey! What are you doing!? Don't you know it's dangerous out here? You'll be torn to shreds by a coyote if you aren't careful!! Geez...
I'm Scorpionstar of CactusClan. Take my word for it, you don't want to gamble with the steppeland. It'll play you dirty if you let it. In CactusClan we've learned to live beside the land, instead of fighting against it. If anybody understands this place, it's us. All of its intricacies, as difficult and unfair as they may be... I can show you where to find the softest grasses for nests, and where the pronghorn pass through every two moons, and the rabbit-trails. But, we must constantly be on alert, and watchful. A coyote could find any one of us just as easily as we could find a prairie dog. To keep moving and always be one step ahead of them is the only way to really have peace of mind. CactusClan doesn't really live in one place... in a way, the whole territory is our home. Camping in one spot for a long time would be wildly dangerous, so, we don't. It keeps us on our paws. Wouldn't want to get careless now, would we?
We can show you the safe way through. Will you come with me?"
PREY Along with the common mice and sage grouses, CactusClan territory is also home to populations of kangaroo rats, prairie dogs, and their most famed catch of all, jackrabbits. Jackrabbits are large, strong, and require a hunting party of two or more cats to bring them down, but are well worth the effort for their flavor and large muscle mass. But watch out! A kick from a jackrabbit can break the bones of a more delicate cat. Other dangers include rattlesnakes, which hide in the grass waiting to strike, and the ever-present, ever approaching fear of coyotes.
TERRITORY CactusClan’s territory is the easily largest, and most unforgiving. flat, dry earth that covers everything else in a layer of dust. Though sagebrush dominates the landscape, woody plants and the prickly pear cacti the Clan is named for are also common. The camp itself is extremely makeshift and that's because one camp will never stay the clan's home base for long. Every so often they will have to relocate to elsewhere in the territory to avoid coyote attacks. Several old camps are scattered around the territory, and sometimes CactusClan will come back to an old one. Just like the rest of the territory, all the camps kind of look the same. Dens are partially dug out under clumps of brush to hide and protect their residents that little bit more. And still, commonly, the nursery & medicine cat’s dens are in old two-chambered jackrabbit burrows. Nests are lined with grass and rabbit fur.
PERSONALITY CactusClan cats are known for being quick, smart, competitive, and dangerous. A cat with a sharp mind and sharper set of claws who has good endurance will find great success in CactusClan. While not tacticians, a CactusClan cat is alone a formidable force in battle. Folklore tells of snakejaw, who dipped his claws in rattlesnake venom before going to war. While the truth of this legend is disputable, the message it sends is clear and strong: don’t make an enemy of a CactusClan cat, or they will make short work of you. The overwhelming majority of CactusClan’s ranks are brown, from chocolate to cinnamon to fawn, with a bunch being tabbies or striped in some well, but there are exceptions.

SCORPIONSTAR name: Scorpionstar gender: Female age: 36 moons breed: Oriental Mix rank: Leader
appearance: Scorpionstar is a tall, svelte she-cat with layers of pale sepia and brown layered over her back and masking an often dirty white. Her fur is incredibly short and thin from years on the prairie, and her green eyes are always glittering with paranoia. Long, puffy pink scars race up from her neck to go jagged across her left eye, which has grown dim from blindness after the attack. Her left ear is almost completely gone, and the rest of long, almost rat-like body is complimented by a profuse smattering of scars.
personality: The most noticeable thing about Scorpionstar is her incredible paranoia; even while in conversation, she is constantly searching the distant steppes for signs of coyotes and other such dangers. She is a remarkably careful she-cat and often seems to have a clear head, but she can be very unreasonable and her clan almost always comes first with no attention paid to her family and her own health. Of course, while she can seem poised and easy-going in everyday talk, she is an incredibly jaded leader after everything she has gone through and she only wants rest from responsibilities and the weight of many lives resting on her shoulders. She is often stressed but will always take time to speak to those around her, no matter the cost. She is cautious around strangers and dislikes sharing personal details.
history: Heatherhawk and Mousewhisker were best friends from birth, basically. The two would always be seen talking or braiding flowers into one another's fur. Both of them enjoyed one another's company, and it was never really said when they became mates. They just started sharing each other's nests, exchanging 'I love you's more often, that sort of thing. They were mates for four years, and they decided that they wanted to start a family. Mousewhisker's brother offered to help them have kits, and so that was that.
Scorpionkit had a generally calm kithood, and was absolutely smothered in affection and praise from his mothers. She got a bit lonely now and again, due to being the only kit in her litter, and she had some issues making friends, so she stuck near her mothers. Heatherhawk expressed her worries to Mousewhisker, who agreed that it was likely unhealthy for Scorpionkit to be so dependent and clingy to her parents, but all kits were like that at one point, right?
As she grew older, she grew bolder, and reached out to more kittens. She was a little clumsy, of course, and often got scolded for running into the other kits roughly, but she always tried to apologize. It happened so often that some kits thought she was doing it on purpose, though, which frustrated her. She assumed that their assumptions meant that they disliked her, not her actions, and she would grow to brush off these cats because she thought they were just being stuck up. She became more quiet about what she thought, because she thought maybe that would make cats like her better, even though that wasn't really the problem in the first place. This was the start of her secretive tendencies, which grew to be her own dislike of sharing things about herself when she became an adult.
She was apprenticed to a laid back she-cat named Willow-wind. She focused heavily on her balance, and took note of her stubborn ways and attempted to change them. While she appreciated the help with her grace, she didn't much care for her trying to control him. Scorpionpaw would disobey her orders every now and again when she thought she was just being ridiculous.
The clan was hit with a drought, and the she-cat was confused, and unsure of where to go. This didn't stop her from trying to do the best for her clan and give a better future for those around her. She would offer to let others have her share of prey, even though a part of her really didn't want him to. Willow-wind said her apprentice was being careless, and she told her she wasn't. They would often fight about her making decisions that weren't the best, and that she wasn't thinking through things.
Not long into her apprenticeship, coyotes had become an incredible problem within CactusClan. While initially it was thought best to fight them off, it soon became apparent that they were very aggressive and could rip cats apart with little effort. Nonetheless, the leader of CactusClan held onto his stubborn ways and kept the clan where it was, no matter how many coyotes were thrown at him.
Soon enough, Scorpionpaw was made Scorpionclaw and she became a full-fledged warrior. She went to her duties with gusto and pomp and trained her apprentices well, and she often went on late-night walks with one of her mothers, Heatherhawk, in order to clear her head from the day. on one of these walks throughout the steppes, they were attacked by a coyote, and the two of them fought viciously. Heatherhawk was killed in the struggle, while Scorpionclaw survived with many scars now lining her pelt. She was found with blood dripping from her claws, and the coyote and her mother lying dead in the brush. Scorpionclaw was regarded as a hero for killing a coyote, but the praise was bitter, tainted by the death of her mother.
Mousewhisker refused to talk to Scorpionclaw due to blaming her for the death of Heatherhawk, and remained silent even as Scorpionclaw was promoted to deputy. Scorpionclaw did everything she could to regain the favor of her mother, but nothing worked. Nothing seemed to break Mousewhisker from the cycle, and although Scorpionclaw still worked diligently, her confidence and heart wavered with every hard glance given to her.
The previous leader lost his last life, and Scorpionclaw gained hers to become Scorpionstar, but it still wasn't enough for her mother. Scropionstar, in her first decree, made sure that another mother would not die prematurely by cycling the clan throughout the prairie, as she was still aching from her death. Scropionstar now continues her lead, although reluctantly, still wishing things could have been different somehow.

COYOTESCREECH name: Coyotescreech gender: Female age: 23 moons breed: American Shorthair Mix rank: Warrior
appearance: Like most CactusClan cats, Coyotescreech has smooth, short fur, and a feathery tail. She has a spotted pelt, like her mother, like the feather speckles on a robin. She's about average height for a she-cat, but she's still small. Her build is dainty, but she is strong and lithe. She has that resemblance to a coyote, and is actually rather pretty. Coyotescreech often holds her head high, and has a serene smile on her face. She smells like freshly-fallen rain and speaks quietly and softly.
personality: Coyotescreech has herself a heart of gold, and as such, doesn't have a doubt that cats are going to always be candid with her. She thinks the best of cats to the best of her abilities, and is firmly unshaken in this belief. This could count her as naive, and could very well work as a neutral trait, however this is not the case. Coyotescreech chooses to trust cats, but that trust can easily be taken away once she feels as though they do not deserve that trust. She places her trust into cats because she knows that, without trust, you have nothing. Her trust is easily given, but easily taken away, albeit not as easily as it is given. This naivety will possibly come to bite her in the back if she puts that trust in the wrong cats, however, she does seem to have a pretty good gauge of what kind of cat a cat is.
Out of all of her siblings, Coyotescreech is perhaps the least confident or courageous one of them all. Some would say that her hesitance to jump into things is practical, but it can get pretty ridiculous to the point where she doesn't want to take any risks at all. It isn't that she is afraid of doing these things, but more so she is afraid of the outcome. If something were to happen, what would she do? Coyotescreech doesn't know any herbs, so she couldn't help fix someone if they got hurt because of it. She also isn't horribly outspoken, as again she is the reserved type, and her opinions are often hidden behind vague mumbles or straight up silence. Coyotescreech has a tendency to fidget a lot, picking at her claws or scratching little lines on the ground. To finish it all off, Coyotescreech is very easy to startle, and can even start at a cat coming up to her in her peripherals if they don't announce themselves. Even then, she will probably at least bristle up if not jump a bit.
This is not debilitating, though. I suppose this trait mostly just goes down to her wariness about someone getting hurt.
history: Coyotekit is the first born child and daughter of Martenwatcher and Comfreyheart, named for her pale coat. She had two younger siblings, a brother named Dunekit and a sister named Chamomilekit. Although she's the oldest, she was also the smallest, and perhaps the shyest of the trio. Coyotekit was a perfect little lady, and that seemed to be a bit of a problem with her mother. Already she was having some issues connecting with her rough and tumble parents, and wondered if they truly prefer her sister, Chamomilekit, over her. Whatever made her parents and siblings happy, she supposed.
To her surprise, Coyotekit was apprenticed to Hazelnose when she turned 6 moons. Coyotepaw only knew that the she-cat was a kind cat, and that was all she had to know to trust the fluffy earred she-cat. She started to grow a fleeting attraction for her mentor, respecting her personality and finding her to be quite the pretty she-cat, but it fell away just as soon as it had appeared. She opted to just hang out with her mentor and follow her around as best as she could.
The name Coyotescreech was not a name that she assumed that she would have, but she supposed it fit alright. Coyotescreech now tries her best to help out her clanmates where she can, putting her own happiness and well-being on the line while doing so.

HORNETFLAME name: Hornetflame gender: Male age: 60 moons breed: Moggy rank: Warrior
appearance: Hornetflame's base coloration is gold, a brilliant ginger color. He has white features on the insides of all four legs, belly, underneath his tail stopping short of the tip, chest and up along the sides of his cheeks, and up to halfway along his muzzle. He also has white spots on the backs of his ears, with white underneath his eye and above in a larger portion almost like 'eye shadow'. He has a darker ginger 'saddle' which covers the shoulders, along his back and down his haunches. This color is also a dark patch over his nose. A darker gold still marks his spine with one long stripe, starting at the back of his head down to just before his tail. There are various stripes on his body, in various markings and banding on his tail, including his tail tip. Both ears are this color, and he has noticeable spots and stripes on his face resembling that of a Siberian tiger. He has gorgeous fiery orange eyes with gold accents.
personality: Having grown up outside the clan where anything can happen, Hornetflame is always on the lookout for things to go wrong. He isn't sneaked up on easily, and knows just about where anyone is at any given time. He's very focused and pays attention to things more than you would think, even though he looks like he's asleep half the time or that he's not all there. It's because of this that it's hard to fool him, and he can see through just about any lie or trick you try to pull on him. After being around for as long as he has, it's hard for him not to. He'll call you out on it, too. Hornetflame has relied on himself for so long, it'd be wrong for him to be dependent on someone. He knows how to fight, how to hunt, and how to take care of himself. He's got a general knowledge of some things that could keep him alive if he needed it, and doesn't need others telling him what to do in order to figure out what to do. His patience is also a mile long. He doesn't get agitated too quickly, and had the temper of a rock. Despite his grumpy exterior, he doesn't snap or get too upset, especially when it comes to younger cats asking questions or things like that.
A personality trait he's had for a long time, Hornetflame is a grumpy tom. He gets huffy a lot, and has a pretty bad attitude in general. Though he doesn't get bugged easily, he does snap at others. It's more of a defense mechanism than anything else, because he's not too sure how to get close to cats anymore. When he does run out of patience, which is a rare thing, he snaps. He also is a nasty fighter, and doesn't have any morals when it comes to fighting. Hornetflame is also forever ready to fight others, especially in the name for his friend/friends. He will strike out verbally and physically if he has to, because in this time, he doesn't like the idea of his friends getting hurt. Then again, he definitely lacks a lot of morals, and is willing to forget or forgive something. Hornetflame doesn't really do rules, and while he might listen now and then, he doesn't really... Listen to them unless it's entirely necessary. And because he's an aggressive tom who doesn't have morals, he tends to blow some things out of proportion, and can and will try and do something stupid to get back at them. Hornetflame will put thorns in your nest just for looking in a bad way at his friends - because he has no sense of who he is as a cat - and things like that.
history: Hornetflame didn't remember much from his kithood. He knew his name was Bee, and that his momma's name was Delilah, but that was all that he knew. She raised him in a small knot in the tall ash trees on the edge of the sagebrush steppes, where they laid in the sun more often than not. He spent a lot of time learning things, like how to climb the ash trees and how to hunt. He also learned how to escape his mother's sight, but was carried back into the den by Delilah. She told him he shouldn't go out there, and that it wasn't safe for someone as young as he was. Bee also learned that he really liked going beyond their den, and would get in trouble often after that for sneaking out and trying to eat bugs and grass outside of the forest. In one of his adventures, he got lost, and ended up in a small rogue community.
He spent many months with them and hanging out, and met many a she-cat. He also got into a lot of fights with some of the more aggressive toms. When he was about three years old, a she-cat dropped two kits off with him saying that they were his. He named them Jumper and Darling, and he loved them dearly. Jumper looked like a carbon copy of him, and Darling was a simple tuxedo she-cat. He raised them as well as an only father could, and taught them all he could. His children soon became his entire life.
One day, he almost lost Jumper to a coyote, but he was able to fight it off as best as he could. It turned tail and ran away. He would tell stories about this often around the farm, but nobody would believe him. This was fine by him, but he was just glad that Jumper was okay. When both of his children grew to be about two years old, they disappeared one day. None of the other cats around the farm could give him a straight answer on what happened to him. Bee isolated himself a lot after this, and refused to talk to anyone. He blamed himself for them missing. This is where he got the idea that he's a terrible father.
Time passed quickly, and an odd cat is brought to the rogue camp. He heard rumors that it was a large white cat. Being the first cat who came and joined the group after Bee, he was curious. He would start to stay up late after this to watch the white tom. Satin, one of the rogues, told him that the cat's name was Rookfeather. Bee thought this name was absolutely ridiculous. He told the tom himself one day that he thought it was ridiculous, and he was sort of laughed at. He soon started spending time with Rookfeather, and learned a lot about where he came from, and why his accent was so weird, and he began to want to join the tom whenever he left.
A month passed, and Rookfeather was still at the house. Bee asked him why he was still there, and Rookfeather dodged the question. This frustrated Bee, but he didn't prod. Rookfeather finally decides to leave, and Bee and Satin see him off. Bee finds himself missing the large tom, and after some nights up, decides that he's going to follow him. He asks around the wilderness to follow Rookfeather's trail and eventually finds the tom in a weird forest. After surprising the tom, Bee offers to help, and leads him to a more populated area of the steppes. They ask around about the clans, but nobody gives them a straight answer. After getting into a fight with a bunch of rogues, one of them mentions that their cousin said something about the clans. They go to this cat, and she points them in the right direction. The two find a place Rookfeather mentions to be the RoseNest. Many of the cats recognize him, and two ask him specifically to give their hellos to their family. Bee considers staying here, but knowing that he wouldn't be happy, followed Rookfeather still. Rookfeather told him that he didn't have to go with him, but Bee insisted. The two had a heart to heart talk after this, both admitting things to one another that they hadn't before.
After following a river, they see CactusClan in the distance. Rookfeather finds the clan's camp, and after he goes in, Bee falls in and lands awkwardly. Rookfeather is greeted kindly, and Bee with suspicion. Scorpionstar brings Rookfeather up to speed about how the clan's been faring recently. Scorpionstar then asks Bee if he'd like to join, and after he says that he would, she calls together the cats of the clan. He is given the name Hornetflame, and he is honored as a fully-fledged member of CactusClan.

LAMBPAW name: LAMBPAW gender: Male age: 8 moons breed: Moggy rank: Apprentice
appearance: Lambpaw is about average size in everything but his paws and ears. He is constantly tripping over his huge paws, or underestimating their size and accidentally slipping up. His large, broad ears frame his face and are full of fluff and tipped with dark tufts. As he gets bigger, he will grow into his ears and paws a bit more, but they will always be a little too large for his own good. His shoulders are fanned by a rim of neck plume. His pelt is the same grayscale as his mother’s, lacking any of his father’s warmer colors. Lambpaw is decorated by lynx points and varying designs of black trim on his face, back, legs, and tail. His favorite leg is the one where the black markings wind around the leg like a snake - a very weird snake. His eyes are sky blue color, but the pupil in his left eye is white - causing him to have vision issues.
personality: Lambpaw is a very caring little tom, and has a lot of love in his heart for his friends, family, and clanmates. He does his best to make sure everyone’s doing alright, and if not, he’s going to try to help fix it. He’s got a talent for persuasion, and even when he isn’t successful, he is able to keep his cool. Lambpaw doesn’t get too bothered by anxiety or things going wrong, and does his best to just roll with the punches as they come. This small cat is extremely inherently distrustful of cats who are not CactusClan, no matter how kindly he speaks to them, or cats who are different. He’s incredibly stubborn, and if there’s something he doesn’t want to do, then it’s not going to get done, no matter how many times you ask or how you rephrase it.
history: He was born to Mushroomspirit and Charredoak. Mushroomspirit hadn’t known she was pregnant until she had him and his sister, Snakekit, and brought them to Charredoak. Lambkit is just sort of ready to kick major butt no matter what. He has only faint memories of his mom, but since she’s not here, that says a lot about the kind of cat she is. THroughout most of childhood, he snooped around the camp or hung out with Snakekit.
At six moons, he was apprenticed. His sister wasn’t apprenticed alongside him because she ended up outside of camp. Due to being angry, he pretended to not get things because he felt bad that Snakekit didn’t rank up with him. He tried to teach Snakekit what he learned, but she seemed more apt to be sad about not being ranked up. He understood that, and decided she would probably only feel like he was pitying her with what he was doing. She's ranked up now though, so he's happy again! Nothing too crazy here.

name: Burningsky gender: Tom age: 41 moons old breed: Abysinnian Mix rank: Warrior
appearance: Massive is the perfect word for this tom, long legged and muscular to add to it, he is an intimidating tom to look at. His fur is sleek to his body, showing much of the muscle beneath his skin due to the thinness of his coat, an advantage in the hot surroundings he lives in. However, due to his size he finds disadvantage in not being the fastest cat in the world. His fur is a russet gingery brown, marked with stripes and splotches of pale brown around his face, flanks and underbelly in the common markings of his breed. However, it is indicative of the fact he is a mixed breed due to his unusual side. His eyes are lit with a sharp amber colour, which is from where he gains his name. They are the colour of the sky as the sun begins to rise over the territory, similar to the colour of a controlled flame. personality: Silent and mysterious are arguably two of the most common words annoted with this handsome tom, preferring to keep himself to himself he'd much rather watch from the shadows than be at the forefront of attention. Never one to speak ten words where two would do the same job just as well, he is by no means the most approachable cat in the clan, and he doesn't mind it. However, he is a dependable and loyal cat, the type one can turn to in order to make the decisions others might struggle to. history: He had a relatively normal kithood. parents: siblings:

appearance: More shadow than she is a spider, she is a lithe and small shecat with an uncanny ability to blend in to the situations around her. She is built for running, and is good at it but less so much when it comes to the battle. However, she has learned to use her speed to the best of her ability, and as a result is good at getting out of potentially tricky situations. Her fur is mainly black, but splashed ginger and white in asymmetrical patternings at the chest, underbelly and across her back. However, she tends to suffer a little from the heat due to having a dark coloured coat, but the fact she has long ears and a lithe frame help to keep her cool, adaptations for the difficult conditions she lives in. She has pale blueish green eyes. At current, she is heavily pregnant. personality: Sweet and charming are two of the words most applicable to Spiderblossom, due to her disadvantage in terms of size she learned early on to know how to get herself out of difficulties using her tongue rather than her fighting skills, as a result she is rather silver tongued. However, she has the good heart which means she doesn't tend to use it unless especially annoyed or absolutely necessary.
