I've just recently finished Mothflight's vison and there's this one moment that really annoys me- When Windstar exiles her own daughter, just becuase she wandered off? I am reading into this wrong?

Sorry, but you're completely wrong. Windstar didn't exile her, she left on her own. The book makes that perfectly clear, so I'm not sure how you misunderstood that scene, especially if you only recently finished reading the book yourself. Moth Flight was always prone to distraction to the point where it's often gotten her (and others) in trouble, and her nearly getting both her and Gorse Fur killed infuritated Windstar, but she never exiled her.
The exile is just a myth from Secrets of the Clans, and even then the scenes are almost identical in how they happened save for how Moth Flight left.

Yeah, the "exile" thing is only part of the myth of Mothflight that's found in the field guides. It doesn't happen in the actual story.
