What the heeeeeeeeck happened here? And what are your thoughts on it?
I liked that Cinderpelt was reincarnated as Cinderheart, given the chance to be a warrior like she always wanted and find love (with the hunky Lionblaze, at that!) . . . but then, suddenly, the Erin's reworked it so . . . I'm not entirely sure, honestly. The whole thing confuses me. Cinderpelt was just haunting/possessing Cinderheart's body or something? Like some sweet version of Jekyll & Hyde? My memory is spotty and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. :-P
On that note, do you like that Cinderpelt's spirit split from Cinderheart's body, thus making them two separate individuals, or would you have preferred they remained one person? (You know what, let me add a poll to this thread!)
EDIT: Ack, I worded it badly, but you get the point!
Personally, I don't like how Cinderheart went through that whole identity crisis. I wish she was content when she found out about her past life, and went on living as Cinderpelt reborn.

It wasn't even reincarnation anyway, but posession. I found the entire thing pointless. So yes, I do prefer them as two separate cats, like it should've been from the start.

I found it interesting but it didn't really go anywhere, from what I remember. I think about Cinderheart's character and Cinderpelt, and I don't find them to be alike at all. They weren't written the same so I can't think of them as the same individual, so I'm always going to think of them as two separate cats.

Two, cause I refuse the idea of Cinderpelt reincarnating into a cat like Cinderheart, ugh.

Canonically, it's two, but I really wanted it to be one, like in the beginning. In my opinion, reincarnation is way more interesting than soul possession, especially since that plot didn't do much. My headcanon is that Cinderpelt thought going into Cinderheart's body would reincarnate herself, but that didn't work out at all. Which I find very sad, because she must have been excited to do so only to have her plan fail.

I wouldn't mind both possibilities (of them being one cat or two) I just wish the books had decided what it should be: either have Cinderpelt be Cinderheart or scrap the whole "reincarnation" idea in the first place

I never cared for it and I still don't like it. Actually I'd go as far as saying I hate this idea. As readers we watched Cinderpelt deal and grow with her injury. She didn't let her slow her down and lived her life to the fullest. Cinderpelt found a new love for her role and thus received some of the best character development in Warriors. By having StarClan "bless" her with a second chance, Cinderheart, in my opinion, becomes a walking insult. She was a reincarnation/possessed because Cinderpelt's life wasn't "good enough" and that has always bothered me. Cinderpelt loved being a medicine cat and was able to overcome her disability. While she regretted the accident in some ways, she never let that bring her down and served as one of the best medicine cats in recent ThunderClan history.
Now this is not to say I hate Cinderheart. It's not her fault this happened so I don't blame her for what StarClan did. With that said I don't think she developed a lot on her own. She would always have the shadow of Cinderpelt over her whether she was conscience of it or not and I don't think that's fair. She should've just been able to live a normal warrior life without having to be a possession/reincarnation. With this plot I've also wondered how much Cinderpelt was actually controlling Cinderheart. What decisions were subconsciously made by Cinderpelt and not Cinderheart? Did Cinderpelt have an influence on her choices and even personality at all? And what makes Cinderpelt special anyway? Why did she deserve a second chance instead of Swiftpaw or Mosskit? What about the kits who died under Brokenstar's reign? Why does Cinderpelt, who succeeded in life and loved it despite the challenges, get to have another chance as a warrior and not anyone else? I honestly believe if done right and with someone different this could've been an interesting story line. Instead we get the confusing mess in canon and it comes across as making Cinderpelt's struggles and growth almost meaningless in the end.
