There used to be a British tv show in the 80s (though it was revived briefly in the 90s) called Shine on Harvey Moon, which was about the Moon family in post WW2 East End of London. I'm thinking this might be where the cat's name comes from if either of the Erins watched the show. Plus, the Erins have named cats after real things before (ex: Fuzzypelt after a toy, Macgyver after a character from the show of the same name).
