Which characters should have been written better? Be prepared for a long post lol.
For me it's Dovewing, Ivypool, Alderheart, Leafpool, Crowfeather, Millie, Silverstream, Spottedleaf, Rowanstar, Tigerheart, Hawkfrost, Bramblestar, Mothwing, Stormcloud, Briarlight, Bumblestripe, Mapleshade, Darktail, Scourge, Half Moon, Shadowstar, Skystar, Jessy, Storm...and that's all I can think of at the top of my head right now.
I put some characters that are decent like Shadowstar because they seemed bland to me. Lots of characters had no personality whatsoever, and to be written better I really think some should have been given a chance to have one.
And I also want to point out while some characters like Silverstream have a decent personality, they were still used as a plot device, which is a pet peeve of mine, imo.

I actually did not mind Skystar. He had an interesting character arc in my opinion. The only thing that I did not like about him was his sudden behavior shift in Moth Flight's Vision when compared to Path of Stars.

I actually did not mind Skystar. He had an interesting character arc in my opinion. The only thing that I did not like about him was his sudden behavior shift in Moth Flight's Vision when compared to Path of Stars. He's fine as a character on his own, but the fact that he screwed up in MFV bothers me. I understand that Kate wrote that book before the last one came out (I could be wrong, these books were written so long ago lol) but it ruined Skystar's redemption for me. It's inconsistent and that's what bothers me. |

Millie. It blew my mind to see how she acted towards Briarlight versus her other two kits. It made for an interesting story, but still... Didn't expect that from a former kittypet.
And Alderheart. He's a main character, but he has almost no personality whatsoever. Sparkpelt, on the other hand, seems like an extremely interesting character, but of course, we don't see any of her POV.

All the daylight warriors, honestly… The whole system could have easily avoided a lot of controversy and weakness if it'd been reworked. Mainly, stating that the daylight warriors cannot pass their final assessment and earn their warrior name unless they've chosen to stay with Skyclan. Otherwise, they must leave and not return if they have met all the requirements to become a warrior but have chosen not to join Skyclan. It sounds a little harsh, but it would've avoided a lot of the issues with that… Also, some warriors stayed behind for seemingly no reason at all (e.g. Ebonyclaw). It was rather confusing…
Also, Darktail. The fact that Hawkwing’s Journey came out after a Vision of Shadows made things rather predictable there… And his relation to the other characters was revealed out of nowhere, with his reason for fighting them being rather cliché… Finally, for someone who did so much damage, the final battle was pretty anticlimactic… He should have survived much longer than he did… Unless someone decides to carry on his legacy somehow, but his group is in tatters, so I don't see how that's possible…

All of them except maybe Hollyleaf , Sandstrom, Squirrelflight and Cinderpelt. Im not saying all the charaters are written badley but almost all of them had room for improvement imo.

Maybe besides from Tigerstar/Scourge, who's I'm confident met their needed potential or I'm satisfied with. Apart from them, basically all the villains. Alongside, faceless background characters and romance, I feel like the villains is one of the Warriors' series weakest aspect.
Hawkfrost, Sol and Ashfur especially.
Even Mapleshade and Darktail, could still do with tweaking. As Darktail wasn't fleshed out as much as he could of and he's rather similar to other villains, even if he was better executed. And this is more objective, but I didn't really like the Onestar reveal. It certainly unpredictable, I'll give them that. But it felt like it literally comes out of nowhere and has no connection with the story beforehand.
And Mapleshade's Novella, really should of been Super Edition. As her character before snapping, is literally just non-existence. She's an overly native/nice mother, and that her whole character. She has no unique personality. Neither do any of the cats she kills. There should of been much more build up to Mapleshade killing her flipping mate.

i don't know what i hate more. characters that are bland or characters that have shown inconsistent, unexplained behavior. and in some cases, still end up being pretty bland.
