I just thought of something, but instead of it being cohesive.
The Dark Forest should’ve been implemented to prey on the fears/madness of those who resided there.
With this in mind, each cat would have to face their own punishments alone, as if they were the only cats in the Dark Forest.
Mapleshade, I feel like seeing constant hallucinations of her kits in either disturbing ways trying to speak with her, or dying one by one. Till she “returns,” to the river where her kits drown, and has to rewatch all three die.
And this cycle would continue in more horrendous ways than the last. Pretty much till Mapleshade faded or lost any sense of being.
While cliche, I feel like it fits best for Tigerstar, having to feel the pain of his death nine times, the only difference here would it be his murderer constantly changing, from the victims, lovers, his enemies and former allies.
In no particular order: Longtail, Darkstripe, Dustpelt, Bluestar, Stonefur, Mistyfoot, Redtail, Runningwind, Brindleface, Ravenpaw, Gorsepaw, Featherpaw and Stormpaw, Bramblepaw, Goldenflower, Sasha, and Firestar. Before ending with Scourge.
(I feel like the apprentices could be one death on their own, with all three ganging up on their own, similar to how Bone was murdered.)
Darkstripe is very peculiar because of how much of a coward he is, and how confused he was due to being in the Dark Forest in the first place.
I feel like the forest itself could’ve been a punishment to Darkstripe’s psyche, he truly felt like he didn’t belong there.
In this sceneario, there would be no interaction between cats, so Darkstripe is left to wander this horrid place with no answers as to why he’s there, and no Tigerstar to snap at him.
Hawkfrost is interesting, sure betrayal sucks but he didn’t seem too bothered or horrified by his death when we see him in Power of Three. He just seems to want revenge against Brambleclaw for the betrayal and not the death itself, this then makes his punishment rather tricky...
What is the worst way Hawkfrost could have failed in life?
Being kicked out of RiverClan and unlike his father, there would be no turmoil to allow him to take leadership elsewhere.
But the latter isn’t important, what is important is others not only succeding where he failed but everyone knowing what he had done.
To see how close you were to such power beneath your claws to have it ripped away from you.
But something worse is seeing someone you hate having what you wanted.
I could see Hawkfrost’s version having Mothwing give up her role as medicine cat, and later becoming deputy under Leopardstar. (Brambleclaw also becomes leader of ThunderClan and Tawnypelt, leader of ShadowClan.)
Hawkfrost is kept as a prisoner in RiverClan’s camp, having to hear the whispers and words of his clan mates for his vile ways, alongside hearing the success of all of his siblings.
This, combined with the events he is “seeing,” concerning Mothwing could lead to his pride shattering as this loss of leadership, popularity, and having someone else obtain what you desired could be some of Hawkfrost’s more greater fears.
Brokenstar is probably one of the harder cats in the Dark Forest, as he doesn’t seem to have any particular fears or things that can drive him mad. (I also can’t think of anything for him, either...)
So yeah, what do you guys think? And any more ideas for other DF cats?
