So I just remembered that when she killed Ravenwing, she hoped he'd be in the Place of No Stars. So she'd only know about that place unless she went there herself, right? Or maybe someone mentioned it to her or she had a vision of it.. what do you think?

No I don't think so. She probably heard about it from stories or something.

Awareness of the Dark Forest probably fluctuates. So during Mapleshade's time, it was common knowledge. However after a while of seemly uneventful years, with no cats such as Tigerstar/Brokenstar, that would obviously not go to Starclan - the idea of the afterlife where evil cats, probably slowly slipped from the Clan's mind. Eventually, coming to Bluestar's time where only a handful of cats knew of it, former trainees and maybe some Medcine cat. Though thanks to cats like Tigerstar/Brokenstar, they reawakened the Clan's curiosity on their afterlives once again.
With the Dark Forest itself, becoming more active, seemly having carefully/secretly gathering their numbers over the years. Awareness grew again, until coming post-Great Battle, where literally all cats know they exist. And this cycle will probably just carry on; Over time, the stories of the Great Battle will be doubted/forgotten, the Dark Forest will use this to their advantage to grow again- rinse and repeat.

Huh, that's actually a reasonable explanation for the odd inconsistencies regarding who knows what about the DF that I haven't heard before. I mean, the real reason is still just that the story isn't edited very precisely, but this theory actually works.

I can see this.
