Personally, I saw their Brightpaw/heart and Swiftpaw having a close platonic relationship. Brightheart was already close with Cloudtail, and I feel like she was just frustrated enough to join Swiftpaw on his expedition. That and she probably admired him a little.
I always thought it was weird Thornpaw never went but maybe he was so eager to be a warrior he didn't want to upset Bluestar

I think that Brightheart possibly would have gotten with Swiftpaw for a little while, and then left him for Cloudtail. Cloud/Bright are just too good together. The fact that Cloudtail was immediately concerned for Brightheart as soon as she was injured shows that he was already interested in her.

I don't think that Brightpaw and Swiftpaw would've been mates. Brightpaw just joined him because she was frustrated that she wasn't a warrior yet.

Why? They they ever show affection for one another? According to the wiki they're seen together before the dog attack, but only doing apprentice things. Just because Brightheart went with Swiftpaw doesn't meant their in love. I don't remember them ever even having a relationship outside the dog attack, but i could be wrong

I think Cloudtail and Brightheart is one of the most well-developed/interesting couples in the whole series. (Which isn't much considering Warriors romantic standards.) And I think it would be a shame to get rid of that. Especially since, Cloudtail is one of the few background characters with some unique personality. Honestly, I think people tend to over-idealize this ship too much, thinking that if Swiftpaw survived, he'd be like this perfect /amazing mate, somehow better then Cloudtail. However, there was better any development between Swiftpaw and Brightpaw in the books. At their current situation, Swiftpaw and Brightheart are only childhood friends, who've be gone for the majority of Brightheart's life, where she now has a life-long mate and kits. She'd have no reason to pick Swiftpaw in Starclan, as I've seen some people want.
If he'd lived, I guess it would of been interesting to see two mates with life-changing injuries. Though, honestly, if Brightheart, I wouldn't want to be mates with the guy who paid a part in ruining both our lives.
In fact, Swiftpaw ended up ruining his and Brightheart's lives, for being so reckless due to jealousy. Swiftpaw's death wasn't him noble sacrifice like it's often portrayed as, it simply them failing to escape the easily avoidable danger they put themselves in. Swiftpaw didn't save Brightpaw, she would of died alongside him anyway if it wasn't for the patrol finding her in time and the Medicine cats healing her.

Yes, probably. But then her kits (Ivypool and Dovewing) Wouldn't be born and Dovewing wouldn't be one of the three and even if they did have kits they wouldn't be related to Firestar....I think? *Checking WarriorsWIKI* Ok, Yeah I was right. Ivypool wouldn't have been trained in the Dark Forest, etc.

Yeah, I can see it. Because they both experienced and survived something traumatic, a near-death experience, they'd be able to easily confide in one another. Even if they're covered in scars, etc. I can either see Swiftpaw get with Brightheart, or if Bright still got with Cloud, Swift could get with Daisy?

Nah. Honestly I just re-read the first arc (finished The Darkest Hour this morning), and there's very little scenes of them together. Cinderpelt also mentions to Fireheart that Cloudtail had been in love with Brightheart for more than a season--she says this while Brightpaw is still recovering in the medicine den.
So I don't see where they would have been mates. The real reason she ever followed Swiftpaw was due to wanting to be warriors. She even states her reasons during the one POV she had in one of the guides. And she also went with him because no one else would, and she didn't want him to go alone. She says this herself.
