We've seen cats become mentors not long after becoming warriors, with Sparkpelt and Larksong being the most recent examples. What are your thoughts on this? Also, do you think Twigbranch and/or Violetshine will become mentors soon?

I have a feeling Twigbranch will be a mentor soon. Violetshine, maybe not.

I also have the feeling that Twigbranch may be a mentor soon. Violetshine, same as above, I'm unsure.

i don't like it. some older cats still haven't had apprentices yet? sparkpelt just became a warrior. she really isn't that experienced either, or she would've known she wasn't training twigbranch very well. or maybe she was just being spiteful on purpose.

So.
Help me.
If Berrynose and Birchfall get overlooked ONE MORE TIME in terms of mentoring, I'm going to snap.

I don't think Twigbranch or Violetshine were mentor material, but then again Dovewing wasn't mother material and here we are. I don't exactly have a problem with younger warriors getting apprentices, but it should spread out some. I'm not sure about Berrynose, but Birchfall should have had an apprentice. I'd like to see Hollytuft or Sorrelstripe get an apprentice, but they're in the younger generation. Whitewing just had Dewnose. Bumblestripe doesn't seem like mentor material..

It's been done before, so I don't mind. Greystripe and Firestar got there first apprentices around the age of nine moons (not to mention they became warriors early, and the first apprentices were shortly after that). Cherrytail and Sparrowpelt also got the first apprentices literally right after becoming warriors, but Leafstar explained it was because of how well they had done against the rat pack, and both were successful mentors. So young mentors have been around since the first series. It might just be done more often now.
Also worth noting that this is not the first time in an older cat has been passed up either. Darkstripe nearly got passed up in favor of Sandstorm in the first series, but Bluestar pointed out his experience over Sandstorm. Runningwind never got any apprentices, but I think someone points out that he just doesn't have the personality to become a mentor, and at some point he acknowledges it. Brightheart has been passed up repeatedly for younger cats, although whether that's related to her disability or not is never explained.
So when I think of Berrynose, I think using the same situation as Runningwind, where he just doesn't have the maturity for it. I can't say much about Birchfall since I don't remember him having much personality to begin with (other than being bouncy but lonely as a kit, and being extremely regretful after the Dark Forest battle).

Bumblestripe doesn't seem like mentor material.. The ironic thing about that is, Bumblestripe literally just got his third apprentice.

Wasptail and Stonewing were new warriors in TAQ. They were stated right after to already be mentors. There was a commotion at the gathering if I remember correctly.

Sigh. Again, the whole Berrynose and maturity shpeal, when he is clearly a better father than so many other toms, has one of the most fleshed out personalities, was literally given a scene in Bramblestar's Storm where Bramblestar notes he has matured, when his brother and Birchfall, who both trained in the Dark Forest with cats they clearly knew were evil and even hid around during the final battle until Ivypool rallied them up, when cats who are extremely similar in many ways get multiple apprentices, and yet somehow Berrynose is too immature to even get a chance?
I refuse to believe he is that immature that he can't even be given a chance. How do we know he's a bad mentor until he actually gets an apprentice? That's genuinely all I ask for. Heck, he could be a bad mentor, but dude, give him a chance to show good or bad mentorship.
Clearly he's mature enough to raise kits that Bramblestar and Squirrelflight trusted to mentor their own kits. Rosepetal has had so many apprentices yet she's been shown to be hotheaded as well. Cloudtail has had apprentices and he's developed in a very similar way to Berrynose. Both were brash and mouthy yet both clearly have matured enough to be good fathers and very loyal warriors.
It's just so frustrating. Mentoring an apprentice is literally a way to build maturity! If that's what is needed for Berrynose, give him a darn apprentice to learn to be even more mature.

I agree with Moonblazer. Berrynose should have had an apprentice ages ago. I feel like the only reason Berrynose hasn't had an apprentice yet is because the authors/editors don't like him as much as the younger generation. Either that, or the editors literally don't know how to do their job. Because both of his siblings have had apprentices. So why not him? I mean seriously. If Sparkpelt (who has not one bone of maturity in her body) can have an apprentice, then why not Berrynose?
