The only reason I can think of Brambleclaw joining the Dark Forest is maybe because he wanted to bond with Tigerstar. He was perfectly aware of what his father was capable of, yet he still went after him. If I am correct, he also joined to bond with Hawkfrost, so this only makes me wonder if that's the reason why he joined.

My impression is it was less attention, and more wanting to believe his brother wasn't evil and his father might have had a change of heart.

I'm not sure. By this point, he was getting a lot of good, positive attention, since he was one of the cats who discovered the new territory and was part of the prophecy. He kept thinking there were mentions of everyone judging him for being Tigerstar's son, but we didn't see any of that except from Leafpool and Squirrelflight? Unless I'm remembering wrong. He was kind of paranoid of that sort of thing. If he wanted specifically family attention, I wish he'd turned to Goldenflower. They had one cute scene in Starlight, I think, and that was it... The prejudice had mostly stopped by then (save Ashfur's jealousy-induced fit in Sunset), but back in The Prophecies Begin he faced a lot of it.

But after TNP, I don't remember anyone except Squirrel and Leaf (then that instance with Ash) worrying about it. If I remember correctly, there was also one brief moment in Dawn when it was revealed Hawk and Moth were Tiger's kits, too, but outside that, I don't recall anything else, and that was mostly just an awkward interaction. He was always thinking about how he wasn't getting anywhere or Firestar wasn't giving him the deputy position because of Tigerstar (even though all of Firestar's hangups were about Graystripe lol Bramblestar had nothing to do with it), but there were no hints of that...? Outwardly, everyone liked him or even praised him. I don't get it.

He thought that his father was harmless now that he was dead. That's pretty reasonably actual and also he didn't think Hawkfrost was bad, also reasonable since Hawkfrost hadn't actually done anything wrong yet. There's nothing actually wrong about the two of them become clan leaders. Brambleclaw thought that if Tigerstar every told him to do anything evil he could just not do it which is perfectly true.
he also might have wanted a father which is understandable as well

Actually it did come back up when Sasha revealed who Mothwing and Hawkfrost's father was. And all the Clans (except WindClan because they weren't present) took the news pretty bad. And I think Firestar had to remind everyone that they each had at least one of Tigerstar's kits in their Clan and that they were loyal.

Brambleclaw is my favorite warrior, besides Onewhisker (Onestar). I mean, he might have wanted to meet his half brother and his father for the first time and that`s why he joined the Dark Forest. Right? If only Tadpole and Swiftpaw hadn't died.
