I've noticed there's an awful of useless hunting/patroling scenes in the later Arcs. A common complaint of Omen of the Star even stating it has too much filler. And I have to say, if you're going to have useless filler, at least put useless yet fun information in there. Despite all this time being spent on the Clans' day to day activities, I still don't get that sense of routine.
For example, can you tell me which cats get up first? What the favorite meal of some characters? Who are the best fighters of the Clans, besides from Lionblaze? Can we have a better sense of power scaling? What cats tend to cause the most trouble? Can more background characters actually have some personality? Which cats are the best at climbing/tracking/etc? Why don't the smarter family of prey, like Crows, never seek revenge? Why do we never see the same foxes/badgers again if they live in a certain area, are they always different? Why are there so few nicknames? What are character's favorite spots in the territories? Why aren't there any reappearing things such as dog walkers, who'd walk the same route each day, the Clan should be familiar with them?
I feel like the first series had, this extra layer of world building of smaller detils that made it more immersive. With a better ideas of the certain character's reputations and a better sense of Power scaling, knowing who's powerful.
But I feel like they could go even deeper. What about say Crow tries to attack Clan cats more often after one was killed? What about using the Deer rutting session? What are certain species reputations to the Clan cats? Would it possible to remind us that other species have their own securities?
Here's to put it into context: 'After -paw had slain that crow chick, there had been a shift in the local Crow population. They'd also been creatures of superstition, but now- it felt like you couldn't going anywhere in the territory without feeling like you were being watched. No doubt, the dark birds were looking to avenge their fallen offspring. What the Clan Cats had assumed to be the chick's close kin, a specific crow had begun to grow itself quite the reputation, attacking three cats alone this moon. They'd nicknamed the pest, Scar-eye, after - managed to give it a good scratching. The best hunter of the Clans couldn't even catch it. -Star had not been pleased. Demanding Scar-eye been caught, before it could poke out anyone's eye. Putting snakes aside, catching Scar-eye was the real prize of the season. Of course, -paw and -paw more determined then anyone to catch the darn thing, just so they could prove their previous point of apprentices being better then warriors. Which was mousedang. And they needed to do it soon, as if the others got whiff of -clan letting a crow terrorize them, they'd been the laughing stock of the gathering."
