(Maybe we could timeskip slightly, say that this plot got sorted out, and pick up with the same characters, but different plot, and skipping ahead to a few months later in-RP? And the multi-account thing sounds like a really good idea! That way, all the mods can update the front page and such if the rest are offline.) [[Yesss. Shall we just say that Aurora and Violet found her parents, forced them to undo the curse, everyone at the society was real happy at Aurora for that and Violet went back to her underwater cave which was all magically fixed? So that clears the scene for a new plotline? And exactly -- works really well for me, there's been those who want to overtake the rp in the past and it feels more secure than giving out your actual account details. Should I message the bored admin about it, or put a thread in the 'comments' section of the forum? You've been here longer than me -- I much welcome your advice ]]

[[Sounds like a plan. Now, what plot would you like? Adventure? Romance? Power-Play? Thriller? Fight-against-evil?
I was half milling around with the idea of doing a plot involving Viola -- perhaps Desmond gets desperate for the cure for Violet so goes trying to Viola to get her blood or w/e.
But honestly mate I'm really up for anything -- we could even do a plot involving the brother or something I don't mind.]]

[[Yesss -- I like that idea. I'll refrain from bringing Beatrix into it unless we need a spare 'shove plot in x direction' character.

[[Feel free to spin the roleplay in any direction.]]
It was getting harder and harder for Desmond to remain expressionless while looking at Aurora’s work. He had taken to adopting a quizzical, but exaggerated expression on her last few pieces of written work -- as it was just getting too hard to be blank faced, as he should be.
The clock ticked. Stacks of paper fluttered in the gentle evening breeze coming from the open window. These soft sounds were occasionally interrupted by Desmond tilting his chair back on its hind legs. Oak chair on oak floor made for a terrible creaking noise. But the time had come for him to let his chair fall back to it’s normal position with a thud on the floor. Then, he let his long-suppressed smile light up his face.
“Elemental studies are perfect. You have a brilliant understanding of temporal forces. Your matter manipulation commentation…” He stood up and almost skipped round to the side of the desk where Aurora was sitting, leaning against the coffee-stained, ink marked table top.
“...Well, I doubt I could do better myself!” he announced. It was a bit of an over-exaggeration, but still Aurora’s work was coming on leaps and bounds. His admiration grew for her every day now. By the gods, he knew he’d failed as a father -- so he could never expect to be one to his new apprentice. But, the feelings he’d had as a parent long ago, and the feelings he had now for his rising star were similar -- if not slightly better.
“Now, go have fun doing whatever it is young people do -- but remember that goat spell I taught you if the young gentlemen from the downstairs hallway get too...unchivalrous. And if you could do one more thing for me…”
Desmond reached into his pocket and drew out a key on a string. It was enchanted, so the wearer could breathe underwater, and it unlocked the door to the black tower -- deep within the lake. It was where the girl that had helped them some months ago had gone back to, despite Desmond’s protests.
“The mermaids tell me she hasn’t come out of her bed in a week. If there’s anyone she’ll listen to it’s…”
Desmond looked up at her, smiled sadly and placed the key in Aurora’s hand. “Just in case you decide you want to,” he said, then walked back round to his chair and relaxed into it, looking up at the towering bookshelves and magical items all around them.

In all honesty, the last five or six months had been the hardest that Aurora had ever lived through. After having to almost kill her own father to reverse the curse, she had been reaccepted into thaumaturgist society as the new representative of the Mirren family, as no other thaumaturgist members of her family had been found so far, barring her brother, Liam. To her knowledge, both her parents had been locked up a month after the curse was reversed, giving her time to study and learn the things she knew in theory, but wasn't very good at in practice. And here she was, half a year later, hardly knowing what to do with herself from pride. But, if anything was a good use of her time, visiting Violet was it.
Aurora hesitated, before nodding with a small smile. "Okay." She left the office, suddenly hyperaware of everything around her. She'd hardly left the Bristol Association building since becoming Desmond's apprentice, except for the rare occasion where she'd go to silently watch her parents from afar in the jail cells, or when she went out to fetch books or personal items from her former family home. The house hadn't been sold yet, and it probably never would be. She wasn't going to do anything without consulting Liam, anyway.
These thoughts were heavy ones, oddly heavy for a girl who had thought of nothing but studying for months now. But she quickly found herself arriving at the door to the Black Tower underneath the lake. She wasn't scared anymore - she had been down here several times with the enchanted key, and trusted that as long as it was with her, she wouldn't be hurt.

The last album played was a Madonna one -- Violet couldn’t remember which one, but half way through the record player had slowed to a halt, distorting the sound of a music. With a final spark, the thing had died. That was the last straw. Violet hated it here. She hated it. Despite the fact that imprisoning Aurora’s parents had been traumatising, she had loved every second spent outside the tower -- the sunlight and splendor, the new sights and sounds of 2018…
Oh no, she was thinking about it again. Suddenly a fresh army of tears ran down her cheeks -- it wasn’t the first, and she doubted it would be the last. She’d barely spent one hour not crying since the record had broke, over a week ago now.
That meant that her voice, normally loud in it’s wailing, was horace enough for her to hear the lock of the door being turned. Instantly, Violet’s tears stopped and she jumped up in alarm. It took her less than a second to figure out who it was, and by the time Aurora had reached the top of the stairs the Vampiress had grabbed a long knitted cardigan, in that special faded purple shade that suited her so well. Her normal pretty stripy socks and doc martens had been replaced with floaty patterned pajama bottoms and some fluffy bunny slippers. So much for looking formidable.
“Oh, Hi Aurora, didn’t expect you here -- sorry for the face -- it’s a vampire thing..” she lied, trying to wipe away her tears and hide her wobbly voice -- not daring to look her friend in the eye, lest she break down again.

"It's okay," Aurora replied with a soft smile. It was hard to force a smile onto her face - it was obvious that something, or many things, were very, very, very wrong. "What's wrong?" She asked, casting her gaze around the room. "Apparently, you haven't been out of bed in a week. If you like, I could find you some cool stuff from the modern era to show you."

Violet flung her head back and gave up her pretence, new tears threatening to break from her eyelids.
“Is it that obvious?” she asked, flouncing across the cracked floorboards to her bed -- a sturdy thing, built almost a hundred years ago from choice Caribbean mahogany, and laden with goose-feather pillows, covered in lavender silk material. She sat down and pulled one of the several similar coloured quilts up to her chest, gesturing for Aurora to sit beside her.
“Oh there’s nothing wrong -- nothing that can be fixed anyway. Now, tell me about the world outside -- do they still have the phones with little tv's in them? Oh, and what happened to Bowie, has he made any new albums recently?” she said, trying to perk herself up a bit as she turned towards her friend.

“Web...site,” Violet repeated, looking intently down at her hands for a moment. Gods, all these new words to learn. All these new things. Oh...how much she wanted it.
The vampire cast a sullen look off the side again. “Perhaps one day I could see a ‘web site’...maybe….I don’t know...Oh Aurora,” she cried, starting to sniffle again.
“Desmond won’t live forever, you know, and I know he’s trying but...but I think sometimes it would’ve been better if my mother had never found be after the car crash,” she said, hanging her head sorrowfully. “Because living in here is no life at all.”

[[Want me to make a thing happen? Like, to follow the 'fight-the-bad-guy' plot? ]]
“Just promise me you won’t end up like Beatrice,” Violet grumbled, a sour feeling coming across her as she recalled the mean-spirited daughter of Desmond, turned to ghost form.
But at the mention of ice cream she lit up -- even though she’d been “dead” for over thirty years, she still loved the taste of the frozen dairy dessert. “Please -- I want to hear everything,” she said.
“And Aurora,” she added, looking lovingly at her friend, “Thank you -- you’re doing more than you know by keeping this old bat company.”

[[m8 this why I made a 'trapped in the 70's character'. Let's rp that. But also what about this for a plotline; Natalie (Desmond's ex) kidnaps Violet and stores him with an already-kidnapped Liam, because she works for Siren's who had dealings with Aurora's parents -- and with Liam and Aurora's blood she could free them from magic jail. She kidnapped Violet because she thought Violet was Aurora?
Again tweak whatever you want about that]]
Violet was now actually giggling. My my, a smile, she hadn't made a real one of them in so long. She threw off her cardigan and grubby pajamas, and used a wet cloth to give herself a once-over. Vampires didn't sweat, so it made cleaning a lot easier. Then, it was time for her signature stripy stockings, metallic purple doc-martins, black mini-skirt and Victorian purple blouse. She even finished the look with a little dark lipstick. Perhaps there was such a thing as happiness again. So Violet waited for Aurora -- sitting on the end of her bed, swinging her legs in the air.

[[yessss. This a plan. Also I accidentally wrote this response first. Soz. Clearly Liam will need to show her vines instead.]]
See, Violet was brought up in the states for her first ten years of life -- there were so many ice cream shops there in the seventies. All kinds of flavours and things…
To distract herself from the thought, Violet started to sing. She started humming, then broke into lyrics. “What a feeling….”
“You just sit there and sing, while your parents rot in jail? By the ocean, if my daughter had been so ungrateful, I would’ve made her regret it…”
“Oh wait, I did.” And with that, the mysterious voice grabbed a, until then, frozen-in-fear Violet. But as soon as she felt the unforgiving grip of arms around her, and the sickly crackle of electricity going through her body -- no doubt created by some thaumaturgical power her captor was using -- she started to wriggle and scream.
“Let me go! Let me go you witch!” she screamed, presuming who held her was in fact her own mother -- come to wreak vengeance at last.
“If I’m a witch, then what are you, Aurora?! God you are strong for a teenager,” the voice said. Violet caught flashes of faded ginger frizz as she and her captor struggled to keep her contained. It was then that Violet realised two things -- this woman was not her mother, and did not really want to capture her. But she was well geared up to deal with a human -- the electric going into her body would have incapacitated a human by now.
So, with tears in her eyes, Violet decided to play the fool. “My mentor will hear about this!” she cried, then slumped down -- a fake slumber, to fool the kidnapper into thinking she was a human girl. It wasn’t long until she was dragged through the portal -- as those things never stayed open for very long -- but she did manage to let her leg ‘fall’ onto one of her records, that was dragged out of the pile, still in it’s case and all. The kidnapper didn’t notice, but hopefully Aurora would.
It was ‘Help!’ by the Beatles. It was a message that needed no interpretation.

Aurora immediately noticed something wrong as she entered the base of the tower. Her footsteps would've been signal enough that she was back, and she would've heard Violet at the top of the stairs, as she did when she arrived. But... She wasn't there. Aurora sprinted up into the room, her heart pounding, only to see... Nobody. She spun around once, scared. Only then did she notice the record on the floor. Knowing Violet, she'd never deliberately mess up the neat piles of records scattered around the room unless she had to. Reading the title, her heart stopped for a beat. The message was clear. She dropped the ice cream tub that she was still holding, running out of the room. She needed to tell Desmond.

[[Also will do post for Violet arriving at Prison where Liam is kept]]
Master Green’s study was a lot neater than Desmond’s -- after all, the master was a century older, so he’d learned all he wanted to learn -- no need to have untidy piles of papers and books everywhere. Desmond had rather admired the skill of organization Green had, until the perilous calculation of the organised mind the Master had came crashing down on Desmond’s activities.
“Doctor Bronze, you’re going to need to chose -- either you do away with your apprentice, or you cease in your search for a cure for this ‘vampire girl’. Quite frankly, I hope you choose the latter rather than the former. Despite her questionable family connections, Mirren is a very bright girl -- and Violet is the daughter of one of the most powerful vampires known to the society. Do you know what kind of havoc Viola could wreak if she had the chance?”
Desmond fidgeted with his pocket watch with his hands, glancing up at the pristine ebony shelves -- lined with immaculately kept manuscripts, or raking his eyes over the polished glass top desk Master Green had -- no mark in sight. But he couldn’t look the Master in the eyes.
“You’ve been neglecting your duty as an apprentice to Master Smith -- that’s now eighteen months he’s been missing. Why haven’t you found the man!”
“Master Green, forgive me, but the encryption thaumaturgy he put around the experiments he was performing...the man is three-hundred years of pure talent, I doubt I will ever be able to break through and find out what he was last doing!”
“Well, you must still try,” Master Green said. “And to do that, I think you best drop one of your little projects -- either the Mirren’s daughter, or Viola’s.”
Desmond sighed, there was nothing more to be said. He gulped and then excused himself, walking down the hallway -- his mind almost breaking at trying to make such a decision. That’s when he saw Aurora burst in through the main doors. From the look on her face, he knew something was wrong, so he charged down the stairs to meet her.
“What is it?” he asked, all other thoughts of his dilemma forgotten.

[[violet and Liam post ]]
“She’s pale as paper and was kept in an attic. You’d think the society would’ve taken care of her better -- I guess that’s what you get for being related to anyone on their pathetic ‘black-list’” the woman said. Violet was listening to everything she said, and she could see her now that she’d dumped Violet’s body on the ground, and the girl could open her eyes.
They were in some sort of cave -- the mouth of which displayed a beach and shoreline. In the water were dark shadows. Occasionally, Violet saw a tail break through the waves. It was shaped like a mermaids, but instead of scales there was a hardened hide -- like that of a whale or shark. The one thing that stood out was the cutting chilled breeze. Violet knew, that wherever they were, it was more northern than Bristol.
“Should we put her down with the other one? Until the spell is prepared? It’ll be a few hours yet.”
Her captor turned to her; her face was sharp, and mared with age lines. Cruel, beady eyes bore into her as she stared -- and that whispy ginger hair was cropped in an ugly but practical cut. Whoever she was, she reminded Violet of Beatrice. May the ghost be damned if she was involved in this.
“You’re awake?” she said, turning to her small, bald colleague with an expression that teetered on being impressed. “Thought that spell would put you out for a good few hours. No matter -- you can spend your remaining time making your farewells,” she said, almost gleefully. Violet was then grabbed by the hair and dragged down, further in the cave, to a set of iron bars. Inside the jail cell was a boy, maybe a few years older than her.
Violet was thrown in -- landing with a thud. “Hope you enjoy your sister more than I have,” the captor muttered, while Violet, facing the boy, put a finger on her lips -- hoping he’d know not to give it away that she was not Aurora.
Then, the captor left. As soon as she was far enough away, Violet huddled closer to the boy and whispered, “are you Aurora’s brother?”

Liam had completely lost track of time. How long had he been there? Could've been a week, could've been a few hours, could've been a month. All he could remember was being snatched from his home whilst his dog, Solstice, barked up a storm. Now, he was here. Trapped in a cage with a girl that was certainly not his sister. "... Yes," He said quietly. "I'm Liam... Liam Mirren. Who are you? Please tell me that nothing bad has happened to Aurora. Please, please, please..."

Desmond pushed his face down into a worried but determined expression. There was no time to lose. “Come on,” he said, and grabbed Aurora’s hand and sped through the society gardens, not caring that all the students were looking on curiously at them both.
Once they reached the lake, Desmond looked down with a grimace. He was trying to figure out if there had been an attack -- a vampire attack, more specifically.
“Do you know of Violet’s mother -- Viola Bloodmancer, Aurora? Do you know who she is? What she is? What she’s done?” he asked -- still concentrating on the lake.

Please, please, please..." Violet looked down softly. This was one of the very rare moments that she wished she was a strong, powerful, formidable vampire. She may have the curse of the night upon her, but she was about as formidable as a kitten -- and couldn't hide it. "I don't know -- in all honesty, I don't know. But this woman think's I'm Aurora, so I've got to presume she's still safe from these guys. But I don't know -- I don't know how far this extends or..." God's sake Violet, she said to herself. Now's not the time to ramble. So she tried to collect her thoughts again, coughing slightly as if she was giving a fancy speech. "I'm Violet...I'm...well I'm Aurora's..." She wanted to say best friend, but she didn't want that getting back to Aurora -- because Aurora probably didn't feel the same way -- after all she was just a vampire and Aurora was able to -- "...well, I helped her trap your parents cause they were trying to kill Desmond -- who's like, Aurora's teacher and my...ehh..doctor, except he's not managed to cure me yet, and that's why I have to live in a tower and that's why when your parents tried to kill the society I could help Aurora help to stop them and..." Violet had done it again. God damnnit! Why was she so incapable. At that moment, she decided she'd stop speaking forever and hid herself under her fringe, curling up into a ball -- just hoping Liam wouldn't give her away.
