Cats changing their allegiances is nothing new, but how did you feel about it with other cats compared to what's been done in AVoS? Not even just with Clans, but homes in general.

I remember when Graystripe switched over to RiverClan to be with his kits, so I guess that was understandable. And then he got kicked out when he defended Fireheart from Leopardstar and then returned to ThunderClan.
That's one instance of Clan-hopping I remember, and I don't think it was as bad as it is in A Vision Of Shadows.

Tawnypelt going to Shadowclan was a pretty huge one, but it wasn't mentioned too much after the first arc... There's also Windflight's parents from the prequel Bluestar's Prophecy, if you consider that one of the earlier books. Stormfur staying with the Tribe could be considered one as well, even though the tribe is not a Clan. Skyclan had a bunch of people switching allegiances, but it wasn't really considered Clan hopping because they were the only one in the area.

There was a few cases of it in the first arc, Yellowfang moving from Shadowclan to Thunderclan (hers was understandable, she was cast out), Graystripe from Thunderclan to Riverclan, and Tawnypelt from Thunderclan to Shadowclan. Ravenpaw left Thunderclan for Barley's den, but that isn't really clan hopping.
I AVOS I think it is the circumstances that annoys me, but it only truly bugs me with Twigbranch. The others in the first arc but Tawnypelt did it out of necessity, whether it be to survive or to be there for kits, while Tawnypelt changed to get away from judgment, be with her father, and to be where she belonged. As much as I can dislike Dovewing at times, I don't mind her clan hopping. It was a reasonable action (I just don't like how she left the clans first and gave Tigerstar an ultimatum) and probably the best course in the long run. Violetshine was tossed around by more powerful cats, seperated because of Needletail and Rowanclaw, cast out because Rowanclaw was shitty at the apprentices, but she made her own decision to stick with Shadowclan and was manipulated into staying when Rowanclaw, Tawnypelt and Tigerstar left. When she finally moved to Skyclan, it felt natural to leave so she could be with Twigbranch and her father at least.
As for Twigbranch, I am probably more annoyed because throughout the series all she wanted was a family, and she disobeyed orders and put her life endanger to get that. Finally she has her father and sister, and she leaves, it just didn't feel right. I can't really blame her though, considering how soft Thunderclan was on her and it gives her an entitled mentality that probably could only be satisfied in Thunderclan. Finleap's makes even less sense, but at least there won't be a forbidden romance.

Ah, I commend Tawny for staying in ShadowClan and sticking to her decision, unlike some other cats. But man she has a bad taste in mates, and only 2 out of 3 of her kits came out cool, guess who, lol.

The Clan hopping has always been there, especially in TPB, but nobody mind it back there. But in AVoS they are making such a big deal?
