because I'm allowed to make as many of these as I feel required and Dustpelt is definitely an underrated character.
One of the more reserved, prickly warriors who has lost a lot. He was a no-nonsense cat and was a good mentor for Squirrelpaw. He was always loyal to his Clan. In the original series, it was nice seeing him get over his jealousy of Firestar and start becoming fond of Ferncloud. He even defended Fireheart at one point in A Dangerous Path.
Though, funny enough, he seems to still argue with Firestar time to time as Lionblaze thought in Fading Echoes.
Dustpelt accepted death so easily and that's a depressing thought.
He's lost all of his daughters, his mate, and two of his sons before he was finally at rest and though other cats have had it worse, no one ever talks about Dustpelt, his losses, and all that his character is which makes me sad.

Dustpelt was a pretty cool character. He grew up from a bully to a cat that respected Firestar, but was never the type to roll over for his leader and was one to call Firestar out on that. He always had good morals, like he was loyal to Redtail even though the tom had passed, and was angry and disgusted that Tigerstar killed him. He was strong enough to mentor Squirrelflight, and was known to be one of the best fathers in the books, and a loving mate to Ferncloud. Their devotion is cute (like having the piece of moss from her nest), and I loved their scenes together. Also he and Brackenfur were the den builders, a role not really thought of since before the Lake.
Dustpelt was one of the cats that made the backbone of Thunderclan, and it isn't the same with him gone. He lost so much, practically his whole family and one of the son's that was left alive was revealed as a clan traitor. It was understandable that he was emotionally exhausted and drained, and it was so upsetting to see him lose almost everything. In BS he even stayed behind in the flood to grab that strong special (memorial?) branch with Brackenfur, even going through flood waters. Dustpelt even helps Squirrelflight guide the branch with Briarlight, Jayfeather and Purdy on it, through flood waters. He is a pretty brave guy, but on could argue in that instance he wanted to see Ferncloud again, but he has shown other instances when he was brave. Even when Fireheart and Dustpelt were new warriors and weren't getting along, Fireheart said Dustpelt was a good warrior and deserved an apprentice. I am glad they included the scene in BS where Ferncloud's spirit comes and Dustpelt is finally reunited. It seemed like a fitting send off for Dustpelt

I agree, I really was sad when Dustpelt passed. I enjoyed his entire character. From being someone who you originally thought would be like Darkstripe, he completely showed how he is instead loyal to his clan and understanding about everything that happened. He lived a long life. That's really sad about his kits, though. Even Spiderleg died too after Dustpelt. He's definitely got a whole family up in StarClan, that's for sure.
I would have liked to see him as an elder, though.

He was definitely underrated. When I first started reading I thought he was goinf to be a bad guy. When it turned out that he wasn't I was happy.

Buttons, same with Longtail. I was for sure he was going to be someone bad. He deserved better too.
