So. I was thinking about it, and I honestly like the idea that instead of Darktail being Onestar's son, he was actually Blackstar's.
I mean think about. Darktail and Blackstar have similar colors for starters. It would fit Blackstar's character to not want an illegitimate kittypet son. It also would fit even better that Darktail destroyed the Clan Blackstar loved so much. Sure, Darktail wouldn't really be able to get direct revenge on Blackstar as he was dead; but he still could destroy the very Clan his father abandoned him for.
I just really like this idea better than him being Onestar's son. I feel like it would have made more sense and fit better. Thoughts?

I thought this from day one, my dude. I would have preferred Darktail being a son of Blackstar, and Smoke grew hateful that Blackstar left the rouge life to return to clan life and basically told her to screw off, so she manipulated and filled her son with hatred for the clans.

That's making a whole lot more sense than Darktail being Onestar's son.

Honestly I've always thought that Darktail would've been Blackstar's son. They look similar, he went after ShadowClan first and Blackstar was a former rogue. I find it diffcult to believe that Onestar would've been able to sneak away from camp often enough to see Smoke. The twolegplace, at least the area where I assume Smoke would've lived, is actually quite far from WindClan's territory. It would've been diffcult for Onestar to have snuck out of camp, through TC territory and into the twolegplace to meet her. Also how did they first meet anyway? Was it when WindClan was in exile? Earlier or even later? It makes zero sense.
Meanwhile Blackstar was exiled in the first book. He had enough time living as a rogue to have meet some of the kittypets and perhaps fall for one. Heck Smoke could've even been a BloodClan cat. We know Tigerstar worked with them and it's not diffcult to assume Blackstar knew about them too when he was a rogue and as Tigerstar's deputy. It would make sense that he would want nothing to do with Smoke for fear of tarnishing his own reputation if she were a BloodClan cat. Imagine the more interesting outcomes if this were the case. Honestly it kind of makes me disappointed for this missed opportunity.
