So, I've been reading a fanfic series by Jayie The Hufflepuff (Jayfrost on BlogClan) called Echoes of War, and a part of me wishes it was canon. What's funny is that it contains some aspects of Bramblestar's Storm and A Vision of Shadows, but Jay started the series before either of them came out, so I thought that was pretty cool.

Jayie is a great friend of mine and she really does deserve this kind of praise. I have yet to read it myself, but that's just because I'm not big on fanfiction. I've heard from many it's worth it tho.

I've seen it around and I've definitely heard of Jayie/Jayfrost as I've been on Blogclan every now and then (Plus Kate inserted her character's name in the books once and it's impossible to miss that. Say what you may about it I personally thought that was really cool and nice of her to do). I might give her fan series a gander in my spare time some time, maybe when I'm done with the DoTC arc, I hear it's really good.

I've read that series a long time ago, before she created the last book (actually it probably wasn't that long ago...) And it was by far one of my favorite fanfics I've read, just behind the series by KyubiMaster9.

Ohh!!!! I read that! I remember it being agony waiting for chapters, because I had just gotten caught up when she was about halfway through The Broken Shadow. Trail of Ashes is probably my favorite, with Code of the Forest is my least favorite, purely because of where the Clans have to go. Not sure if I can go into details for those who haven't read it, though it's been out for a while...I've been dying to talk about it in detail with someone lol her novellas are GREAT, too. She's on Shrewfoot's Spite and I'm loving it so far. She gives all the characters so much depth. Sometimes I reread the books, and I forget she's not actually Erin Hunter undercover. I admit that I wayyyyyy prefer EOTC over AVOS.
And I remember seeing the name Sparkkit at the start, and then AVOS was announced, and I saw Sparkkit there, too ;p I wonder if it was slipped in? I know Kate tries to slip BlogClan names in, and with Jayie being her "deputy," maybe she did (though I think Jayie already got a mention with Jay Frost sometime in DOTC).

Kate added them into the series, and the Editor's either forget they existed and replaced them, or purposefully overruled Kate's decision on their existence/names. Not sure which! I imagine it's like the other minor inconsistencies you'll find from book to book that could have been avoided with a bit more attention to detail :-P |

Yeah, Echoes of War is very good. And I wish it was canon over we got… It's one of the few fan fiction series that I've read from beginning to end (and one of the few series that got finished, period). Too bad that's all it is…
