Yes and no. It's more like it just needs to be improved and cats that break it should be punished to equal the crime. I can ramble so much on just how they could fix the whole forbidden lovers crap that's constantly being pulled.

I wouldn't say it's more trouble than it's worth. It's certainly a lot of trouble, as you can basically do anything and not get punished. However, even the idea of it is worth a heck ton because it's technically what makes warriors warriors. Otherwise they'd just be a big group of Scourges and One-Eyes.

Mainly no with some yes mixed in. That yes comes from how not many cats take it seriously if they can keep breaking it and not get punished at all. But without any rules or laws for the Clans to follow, where would they be?

It causes trouble because leaders don't enforce it enough.

The Code wouldn't cause any trouble if cats simply obeyed it and there would be a lot more trouble if it weren't around. They'd just be pack of rogues. But as has been said by others, it should be enforced more or else it's only a matter of time (*cough*arc 7*cough*) before it's broken beyond repair.

I've seen some people (usually elsewhere) arguing that the whole thing should be done away with, but like someone else here just said, then...they aren't Warriors, you know? The warrior code is a guideline. It works okay, if you ask me. Can a few things change? Yeah, but that's the case with any set of rules given to a group of people/cats.
What doesn't work is cats who ignore it and act like idiots, then want to be upset when they're called out on it (like Clan hopping, forbidden relationships, abandoning the Clans altogether, internal Clan-relationship abuse, that sort of thing). I think we've watched a gradual inline over the years that more and more cats are breaking the code, because nobody is doing anything to stop them. Nobody's teaching them to respect the code, therefore a handful don't care, which breeds more who don't care. It's worse when cats break it and no one is punished. But there are many, many more who abide by the warrior code, and deserve more credit, imo.

Yes, but especially how cats react to it. They use it to justify everything, not to mention breaking it all the time! And then those cats are shamed and looked down on 'pure' cats and it just causes a lot of trouble. I like the order and clarity but forbidding romance between Clans or for medicine cats is definitely calling for rulebreakers, if you ask me.

Why have rules if you're not going to enforce them?

Like most everyone else, my answer is yes and no. :-P
Rules I agree with: ★ Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle. ★ Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory. ★ Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life. ★ A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice. ★ The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled. ★ A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time. ★ Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats (but maybe not be too hostile, guys, sheesh) ★ No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan. ★ An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense. ★ A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet. ★ Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the four. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall. ★ Kits must stay in camp until they are apprenticed, and are not allowed to hunt. ★ The safety of the Clan is more important than the safety of one cat. ★ Clans must not unite together to drive out another Clan. ★ Clans must not force another Clan to share territory. ★ This isn't a rule, but I think the Clan's should be open to accepting kittypets/loners who are ready and willing to be warriors. They seem to be more now, but many still scoff at the idea.
Rules I agree with but think exceptions should be made for/already do have exceptions: ★ Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name. ★ A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice. ★ After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh. ★ The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code. ★ Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors.
Rules I don't agree with (and ones that I think exist mainly to create conflict in the series): ★ Medicine cats may not have a mate or kits (If there is only one medicine cat, I understand them not being allowed to have kits, but it's silly that they're forbidden to even if they have an apprentice or another fully-competent medicine cat working alongside them. The whole "oh, but then they'll be bias and treat their mate/kits first!" is a pretty flat argument) ★ Warriors may not have half-clan relationships (While I understand how this could pose problems, I don't think it's ethical to say "sorry, you can't love that person." I believe forbidden relationships should be discouraged, but if a cat falls in love with someone from another Clan, one of them should have to switch Clans or leave them entirely, simple as that.)
Biggest irony in the Warriors series: having four/five Clans is preached left and right, yet StarClan, which they'll all eventually join, is more-or-less one group So while I agree with having four/five Clans (because where would the series be without 'em :-P) I don't think it'd be catastrophic if they all lived together. Then again, I guess the whole point is that in a perfect world they would be one Clan (like StarClan), but since it's real life things are more messy.
