This is more of a fandom thing than something in the books themselves, but am I the one a bit annoyed at the fact people seem to label Ivypool a lesbian and Alderheart gay? There's nothing wrong with it presay, but I don't see any chemistry unlike with RavenBarley or Mothleaf.
I don't want to accuse anyone, but I can't help but feel that part of it is due to the fact that Ivypool is tomboyish and Alderheart is passive and could be considered feminine. Doesn't this seem sort of stereotypical? Also there's nothing out of character about Ivypool wanting to be a mother. Any type of woman can want to be a mother. Being athletic doesn't mean you can't also be feminine

Headcanons are fine, but it's downright annoying when the majority push it on others and try to shove it down our throats. Everyone is free to have their own headcanons, but they're just that, headcanons, not canon. And just because a headcanon is popular doesn't mean its canon or deserves to be. The fandom acts disgustingly self-entitled over things like this. Like the ridiculous backlash for Fern x Ivy becoming canon over Blossom x Ivy. *rolls eyes*

It doesn't really matter. Headcanons are headcanons. I could make every single cat in the series gay, and it still wouldn't matter. I don't really see the point of being upset over it.

This is a strawman arguement. I have been on tumblr. Yeah, some like to make her lesbian. But not everyone does. I know you guys like to twist facts to fit your agenda, but it doesn't make it true. Just accept that not everyone thinks the same as you do. |

I literally had to deal with this one person the other week on tumblr, coming at my neck for liking trans!Fernsong headcanons, and then they said I'm a coward just because I don't ship Ivy with Blossom instead. *WHEEZE* They told me instead of just "pretending" Fernsong is a she-cat just ship her with Blossomfall or another she-cat if I want a lesbian ship. And I'm here thinking, how come I'm not allowed to HC trans!Fernsong, but you're allowed to HC Lesbi Ivy?? They're literally saying hey my HC is better so do this instead, you're not allowed to enjoy your own HC's and I have to enforce mine on you. |

I knew about the Ivypool stereotype (her being butch lesbian, because she was a good fighter and tough and seen by fans as stoic), but I wasn't aware that people also headcannoned Alderheart as gay and he was seen that way. On the plus side, Puddleshine is just as passive/maybe feminine/sweet, and that'd be sort of breaking the stereotype. Two medicine cats is also new from what we've always had, so I can't say I'd mind that one. I'd rather have LeafMoth than AlderPuddle, it's more understandable, more healthy and both really have good chemistry. |

Pandean, oh trust me, I definitely want Alder to never have a mate, but I'd still prefer this over AlderVelvet, if he was given a mate...again, pls, Erins, we're begging you not to go this route. |

Personally if I were to pair Ivy with another she-cat, I'd choose Hollyleaf easily. I like the idea of Puddle and Alder, along with Moth x Leaf (way better than her and Crow ugh)
