i still believe crowfeather and leafpool are soulmates. meaning, he will choose HER over feathertail in starclan (if the whole choosing someone in death still exists, if not then they can be with whoever i guess).
crowfeather's love for her was so strong he was willing to leave behind everything for her. that doesn't happen just on a whim. he was happy with her and he felt like running away together was the only way for HIM to be happy. think about it, crowfeather wasnt happy already. even before feathertail, he was grumpy and an outcast. he relied too much on feathertail, which stunted his mental growth as an individual. but with leafpool, he was finally in tune and accepted his emotions, which is a big deal for him because of how he naturally is as a "person."
being with leafpool would have given him a better life, because look how bad his life is now. he ends up using a she-cat, nightcloud. he and her have an unhappy marriage, a loveless marriage. and their son turns into this monster because crowfeather is/was not ready to accept his emotions again. he poured ALL his emotion and heart into being with leafpool, and when she chose her clan over him, he closed EVERYTHING off again. nightcloud FORCES herself on him, and he doesnt like it, showing he's once again not ready to open up. nightcloud doesnt even know him or how he operates because crowfeather DOES NOT respond to other cats forcing themselves on him like how she does. no one understood him better than leafpool. even feathertail failed to understand him completely because she kept building him up, only to get his hopes up. because if feathertail lived, crowfeather and her wouldnt have worked it out and he'd once again get hurt.
and even now, crowfeather tried to open up again in the last hope by being there for hollyleaf and leafpool, and also saving his son lionblaze from his other son. if u want to get dark about it, his kits with leafpool are his true children, whereas breezepelt was a literal mistake (sounds harsh, my bad).

Not even gonna try and comment on how Nightcloud apparently "forced" herself onto Crowfeather because it's just going to get me heated.
But, I do agree that Crow loved Leaf the most.

But, I do agree that Crow loved Leaf the most. she did. she pressed her pelt to his and its clear he's not comfortable, and he doesn't respond. she only does gross stuff like that because he ALWAYS doesn't respond. she does it to get something out of him, but he doesn't because he's uncomfortable. i forget which early power of three book this is seen in.

Well if we're excusing Crowfeather's actions for emotional troubles then why not do the same for Nightcloud? I'm sorry, but there is no way I'm going to ever consider this as her "forcing" herself on him. Not gonna debate this. They are both clearly capable of speaking their minds, and Crowfeather is not incapable of telling cats to back off if he wants them to

They are both clearly capable of speaking their minds, and Crowfeather is not incapable of telling cats to back off if he wants them to oh, im a well known nightcloud hater. i can't stand when people try to sympathize or pity nightcloud because she's just as bad as crowfeather. she couldn't get a mate when she was younger, so she basically used crowfeather for kits, and she was so full of herself that she thought she could make him love her just so she can have her "happy little family" dream. i can't stand her and never could, never will. crowfeather not responding to her brushing her pelt against his says a lot to me. so she is forcing herself on him in that way. crowfeather doesnt respond to that kind of "affection" so of course he'd not respond like how she WANTS him to. it's her own fault for not even understanding him. but it is ALSO *HIS* fault not even TRYING to open up to nightcloud. it's not like he wanted to open up to a she-cat he never loved anyways.

I'm not going to believe anything like that until the writers come out and say that she was using him for kits. I genuinely don't see anything that says she was using him for kits. She really could have genuinely loved him. And if he's as emotionally stunted as you say, then how could she have understood him or not?
I agreee there was huge lacks of communication, but Crowfeather seriously does not get that kind of excuse from me. I don't even like Nightcloud all that much, but I see waaaaaay more blame to be put on Crow for many many reasons.
But I won't go into it. Just gonna have to agree to disagree.

Then the same can be said for him "using" her. If they don't outright say it, it's not true, right?

But until then, from the scenes I have read, it was clearer to me that either both parents have equal blame, or that Crowfeather was clearly the more abusive parent. I'm sorry, my opinion on that will not change. And sadly, I know that Crowfeather's book will victimize him way more than should even be considered. It's a reason I'm afraid to read it. They'll ignore all of his blatant abuse and make him look innocent.

They'll ignore all of his blatant abuse and make him look innocent. Crowfeather is great at acting innocent...or at least other people help him look innocent/like the victim. I dread the book. I said this months ago, but I fear that it'll be written with every kit, sister, grandmomma, twice removed aunt, and pawpaw across the lake saying he's just so reasonable, while everyone else are the ones who's wrong, and how "it's such a shame that he's got that crazy family. The ex-wife is nuts, the son's always been a bad egg -- never even wanted anything to do with his father, who tried so hard to be part of his life and a good influence -- and don't get me started on his other baby momma. He's never encouraged his son to be hostile toward ThunderClan, or any of the other Clans...no, that's all on the ex-wife! He's so even-tempered and has always good head on his shoulders, with no biased aggression toward ThunderClan, nor seemingly amused at other Clans' strife. I just don't get how his son was led so astray, with a wonderful father like that! He's gonna be best deputy ever since Wind and the other founders walked the earth!" Nah. If that's the route they go, I'm not looking forward to it.
