"Moon-" or "-moon" isn't supposed to be used in a cat's name because it's sacred to the cats (I actually love this as both a prefix and a suffix, so I don't mind it being used). But why is "Sun-" supposedly sacred as well?

I explained this in another thread. Moon is uncommon, but that's only because it would imply a particular cat had more beauty and significance than its Clanmates. Vicky also said that names like "Moon" and "Sun" are okay if they're used occasionally.

I understand that cats have a Moonstone and Moonpool, but why shouldn't "Sun-" be used?

I understand that cats have a Moonstone and Moonpool, but why shouldn't "Sun-" be used? Silly rule. I don't see what's wrong with Sun- at all. It's not sacred to the cats at all, unlike the moon and stars.

One of the only "Sun-" names I remember from the series is Sunfall. And didn't Riverclan have a Sunstrike? I wish they would bring back the name. When I first read BP I thought the name Moonflower was gorgeous

When I first read BP I thought the name Moonflower was gorgeous "Sun" has been used alot in the series. ThunderClan: Sunfall (Sunstar) WindClan: Sunstrike RiverClan: Sunspots and Sunfish SkyClan: Sunpelt ShadowClan: Sunkit I guess you could also count Sunnytail of ShadowClan and Sunnykit of SkyClan too. And I know LionClan was mythical, but the name Sunpelt was used for one of their warriors too. Sunkit and Sunnykit are the most recent uses of a cat with "Sun" or "Sunny" in their name.

While this goes ignored nowadays, Iโd guess itโs because the moon is a different level of sacred. They measure time in moons, they have the Moonstone/Moonpool, full moon is when gatherings are, half moons are when medicine cats meet- they base a lot of their stuff around it.
The sun...yeah, itโs important, but not as much as the moon to the cats

The Erins broke their own rule. They used all three.
