Alright, The prefix "Moon"....
Bluestar's mother, Moonflower, had the prefix. I think it should be considered a prefix. Don't get me wrong, I like it as a suffix too, but I have an OC with "Moon" as a prefix (My first OC, Her name was Moondapple) and Moonstone and Moonpool I guess are good reasons for "Moon" to only be a suffix, anyways, opinions???

I like it as a prefix but more as a suffix tbh.

I love the prefix "Moon" and wish they used it more and it wasn't some stupid rule.
You can tell by my username that the name Moonblaze is my ideal name.

I'm admittedly old-fashioned, so I hate the moon- prefix and -moon suffix, since it was declared so "sacred" ;p I'm pretty sure Moonflower's original name was Duskflower (?) but Moonflower had already been used. They've reconned so much, though, that I wish they'd gone with Duskflower anyway lol so I dislike names like Moonflower or Ambermoon. I'm also iffy on cats with the -pool suffix, like Ivypool or Leafpool, but I understand why Leafpool was named that, since she discovered it. This is added with suffixes/prefixes of the Clans (Runningwind, Shadowkit, Windflight, etc.), especially since there's so many similar names that can be used instead...granted, Running and Wind's were used in the earlier books. Nonetheless, it rustles my jimmies a lil! That's just me being a stickler, though.

I've felt neutral about it. On one hand, the name would be considered sacred in the Clans. But on the other hand, I've never felt being against characters with the name Moon in them.

I like Moon as a prefix, but I only like it as a suffix for Ancient names.

Yes, it's uncommon, but that's only because it would imply a particular cat had more beauty and significance than its Clanmates. Vicky also said that names like "Moon" and "Sun" are okay if they're used occasionally. But yes, Moonflower's name was originally going to be Duskflower. As for Clan names as prefixes, I can't remember what she said exactly, but I think she said they're normally frowned upon; of course, there are exceptions, like with Windflight and Shadowkit, though Windflight was ThunderClan, and Shadowkit wasn't even born in the Clans. Skywatcher and Skyheart don't even count because SkyClan wasn't even around when they were born. Suffixes seem to be perfectly fine. That being said however, while I don't mind it, I would prefer alternatives if a cat had to be named after a Clan, like instead of Windflight, it's Breezeflight or something. Shadowkit could've been named Darkkit or Shadekit instead. Lightkit wasn't named Thunderkit, after all. I know Shadowkit was named that because Dovewing wanted to celebrate hers and Tigerstar's differences, but still... I also get what you mean by the -pool suffix. It's been used before with Graypool, as well as for Poolcloud as a prefix, but this was long before the Clans moved to the lake. However, there have been several cats with the Stone prefix in the old forest, but it's only been used as a suffix recently, with Strikestone.

However, there have been several cats with the Stone prefix in the old forest, but it's only been used as a suffix recently, with Strikestone. Yeah, you explained my thoughts perfectly! I'm not sure why, but I've always been fine with the Sun- prefix...I don't mind that one at all. I also definitely get exceptions like Skywatcher. Plus, his name seems to have more symbolism in my mind than the others, since his name is linked to something so important (and yeah, I know Leafpool's is, too). But the alternatives that are possible drive me crazy. Dove's reasoning was just weird to me. Why that name in particular for just that one kit? I guess it pertained to a totally-not-obvious This Is Definitely Gonna Be An Important Character, Guys!! hint, even if was just in that book. Even with Lightkit, you've got poor Pouncekit with an out-of-place name compared to the others. I gotta wonder what was going through the editors' minds with that one, but they're really stubborn. Kate tried to tell them Ambermoon shouldn't be used, but they didn't change it -- similar to their habit of keeping dead cats alive, like Beetlewhisker. I'm not surprised they didn't listen. And Graypool certainly comes to mind, but like you mentioned, she was in the old territory with the Moonstone, while Strikestone is in the new territory with the Moonpool. So it sort of switched in my head. Things get retconned so often that it all eventually just jumbles. It makes me wonder if we will see another Thunder or River prefix next...
