Have the Erins run out of names?
Not even specifically Clan cats - I've noticed that even kittypets/loners/rogues have the same name as another kittypet/loner/rogue at some point.

I feel that I don't mind them reusing names, but I think they're reusing the wrong kinds of names or not going back enough. I remember meeting Vicky for a book signing once and I asked her if she'd ever consider the name Cottonpaw, and she said she would. Hmm. Never had seen it, haha.
I also miss old prefixes like Golden-, Blue-, Red-, Brown-, Oak-, etc. Not a huge fan of Thrift-, Flip-, Pod-, or whatever else that is. Fin was cute, but they missed an opportunity to call him Fintail. Finleap doesn't make sense. Leap wasn't even a suffix really until the newer series and I kind of don't like it haha.

The leap suffix actually isnโt that new. We had a character named Stagleap, in Tallstarโs Revenge, alongside another Stagleap in Pinestarโs Choice and Goosefeatherโa Curse.

Oof that's right. Well Stagleap is a great name though. It makes me think of an agile deer. Stag is interesting too because that's not a common name either but I find it very epic. Finleap er.... not sure what I'm supposed to think about with that name lol. A fin of a fish leaping into the air?

I hate it when the Erins reuse names. Sometimes it's understandable when you look at it realistically (for example Robinwing), but why did Mistystar name Shimmerpaw Shimmerpelt when she knew a Shimmerpelt in the old forest. Why, of all names to be repeated, was Frecklewish repeated??? What are the chances of two leaders in totally different times thinking of that same weird name? Also, there's this thing that makes the Allegiances really wonky, when a warrior becomes an elder and they disappear for a while, then somehow get resurrected, back in the warriors section, a few books later.

Fans have absolute scads of original names. The Erins should really take suggestions.

Finleap er.... not sure what I'm supposed to think about with that name lol. A fin of a fish leaping into the air? Maybe? I usually end up thinking of the whole fish with a prominent fin or something. And the leap suffixes seem to be very regal. I knew they existed but I forgot a lot of them. (Iโm going to list everyone with the leap suffix.) Yellowfangโs warrior mentor was Deerleap. And I actually forgot Foxleap! (Itโs hard when trying to think of the suffix alone. ) Frogleap, a warrior in CP. Houndleap, a cat from the DF. Two Rabbitleaps, the current SkyClan warrior and a ThunderClan warrior. There was also a Fish Leap. (And I feel awful for forgetting a few of these. )

While looking for everyone with the leap suffix, I came across this name: Hayberry. She was an Ancient RiverClan queen from Code of the Clans.

Oh that's super weird. I noticed the Frecklewish! That is super strange. Especially since I don't recall any other warriors having Freckle- prefix or -wish suffix. I feel like the Erins maybe forget the warriors in the other clans? Lots of those "elders" are really not that old or just popup without any explanation. I think I read somewhere that there are supposedly more cats in the other clans that they don't list in the allegiances, but I'm not sure what I think about that now.

all their new names are... kinda weird, i guess? i can't tell if i like them or not. i love the nectar prefix, and the gull prefix, but like... fringe? cone? whorl? those are all kind of odd names. i suppose they're trying to go in a new direction, and i don't know exactly why. i don't think they're too afraid of reusing prefixes (leafshade and leafpool are in the same clan) but it's hard to say.
i love fan names, too! some of the best names i've seen have come from ocs.

It seems like all the new kits have the same kind of name now, if that makes any sense? I think of them all as Flipkit because I just can't keep track of the others

On another note, Hare- and Pine- are some of the most overused prefixes and I hate it We have only had four cats with the share prefix. Two Hareflights, one from FQ; the other from TR. Harepaw in RiverClan currently. And Harestar, himself. As for Pine, outside of non warrior names, itโs actually not very common. For traditional warriors we have only had Pineclaw, Pinefur, Pinenose, and Pinestar. The number does grow some, outside of the Clan sense but it is far from the most used prefix. As for other uses of Pine: Pine from TS. Pine Needle And Pine That Clings To Rock. (I believe this was Stormfurโs son.)

I guess it just always seemed to me that there were way too many Pine- and Hare- cats

I think the most commonly used prefix is White-. I think the Erins have stopped using it now. It's about time. Think: Whitestorm, Whiteclaw, Whitefang, Whitewater, Whitewing, Whiteberry, Whitewhisker...*pants*

I actually don't mind the new names. Considering how long the series has been around, names have being reused or appearing odd don't surprise me. And it's not like the series hasn't had weird names before, like Loudbelly for instance. Still, was Twigbranch really the best thing the editors could've come up with?

ฯ The Flying Pancake ฯ, the most overused prefix actually seems to be White, with Night being a close second. Meanwhile, -tail is the most overused suffix.

I think -tail is overused because in my experience at least if you have a difficult prefix, -tail is the way to go almost every single time, as it fits with everything. Could just be me, though.

I wish they would reuse some of the older names that don't get used very often, such as
Red, Blue, Yellow, Golden, Speckle, Soot, Leopard, Patch, Sand, Spotted, Dust, Raven, Frost, Dapple, Goose, and so on
