Does anyone else find themselves getting forgetful over the series?
it's probably just me, because i haven't been doing so great lately, but as time goes on i find myself forgetting more and more about the series. like tonight i was in a thread and someone mentioned berrynose and birchfall and for some reason i thought they were brothers for a good five minutes
and just little things like that.
i used to be able to remember every detail about this series and now i feel like im forgetting everything.

Nah not really. But thatโs just because I have a good memory.

Oh yeah, totally. Since I don't have the books anymore, I've been reading cliffnotes and summaries from the wiki to refresh on some of the books, and I've found that while I have a decent memory of the major events that happened, I've forgotten a lot of little things that may seem rather unmemorable but actually make a huge difference in how I perceived the series.
Like the other day I was reading the summary for Starlight and Onestar... actually genuinely wanted to be leader and was ok with it. I mean, he was shocked of course initially, but he rather eagerly accepted leadership, or at least was a lot more confident than I had originally thought. Another thing I noticed is that once he was chosen as leader, it actually mentions that several WindClan cats started cheering his name, while some stayed quiet or openly protested. In other words, it blatantly obvious that Onestar had a decent amount of support, even if it wasn't everyone. A lot of people- and I tend to- paint Onestar as this little shaking inexperienced warrior who was thrust into leadership and was doomed to fail- he was actually a pretty respectable and knowledgeable warrior who was mentioned to be involved in a lot of Tallstar's decision making near the end of Tallstar's life as well as Mudclaw.
That was really interesting to review because it shows that Onestar wasn't as unqualified as we think and he was also not as unstable as we think. He was a decent warrior who could make his own decisions and probably knowingly did what he did. In some ways I respect him more because of it, but in some ways I'm more judging because while it's good to know that Tallstar didn't necessarily make a horrible choice, it's also disappointing cause the times I'd be more easy on Onestar was because I thought it was everyone else's fault- that WindClan were too harsh, or Tallstar was delusional, and that he was simply driven about by the winds of his clan's opinion- when that's not the case. He made his own decisions and was capable of choosing them willingly. He chose to become Onestar, no one forced him to.

Some of these forgetfulness could be due to the sheer amount of information now, and the fact that the books don't focus on background characters like they used to. Another part could be all the retconning the series has done that causes us to forget some stuff. It is a big series so it is natural to forget stuff about it.
