While this is a horrible error on the editors' part, I kind of hope it doesn't get fixed. ShadowClan is so small now and they desperately need young cats to help rebuild. And while Rippletail isn't exactly old, he isn't young either. And then there's the fact that most of ShadowClan is related to Snowbird or Tawnypelt.
I would much rather have Slatefur come back instead of Rippletail. This error will likely be fixed in the next book, but I honestly won't complain if it didn't. |

Actually, though, I'm not sure they'll revert to the Tigerheart's Shadow version of events in the next book. The editors may force Kate to stick to events as portrayed in the main series, rather than correctly prioritizing the book that was printed first or that Kate also wrote.

I feel like it could go either way. It's an annoying error, but it'd be nice for Puddleshine to have his remaining kin with him.

Tas The error is that in TS Rippletail was stated to be with Berryheart and the other Shadowclan cats that fled Darktail and his kin and stayed away. In RoF, it is said that Rippletail instead left Shadowclan and became a kittypet named Buster, and that Slatefur replaced him as the cat that left Shadowclan and met up with Berryheart and the other Shadowclan cats.

Personally I loved Rippletail in Tigerheart's Shadow. He became one of my favorite characters, so I hope they fix this terrible mistake pronto. Number one it doesn't fit Rippletail's personality one bit. Rippletail has been shown to be extremely close to his littermates Cloverfoot and Berryheart as well as pretty close to his brother in law Sparrowtail why would he leave them to become a kitty pet named Buster. It would make since that he would stay with his littermates and be a part of the group that returns in Tigerheart's Shadow. Slatefur on the other hand lost pretty much his entire family and is only around a year old, so he would easily see the sanctuary of being a kitty pet. I do think in the long run Buster aka Slatefur will end up rejoining Shadowclan and joining his brother once he realizes that Darktail and his kin for the most part is gone and that Shadowclan has a strong leader again. Overall I definitely think Tigerheart's Shadow is the accurate version since it makes the most sense. I'm pretty sure the name typo will be fixed next book and it will be Rippletail who rejoined the clans and Slatefur who is the kitty pet. By the end of the book Slatefur will decide to leave kitty pet life behind and become a warrior. Anyway I hope that is the case since I love both characters and Shadowclan is my favorite clan followed by Skyclan so they can never have too many members.
