It made sense in the first arc, because like Bluestar told Firestar, the cats have free will. StarClan can guide them, but at the end of the day, the living can make their own smaller destinies...not bigger ones, since Brokenstar would apparently always go down that path, while Firestar was always meant to save the Clans, and all that stuff. So it was intentionally vague, because StarClan wanted them to make their own decisions. But later, it all changed, and now the Clancats are so lost and confused without StarClan's guidance that it's hindering them. StarClan is no longer just a comforting presence in the sky; now they seem to kinda stifle the Clans. It seems like no one can make any decisions unless StarClan gives a really in depth sign. I find it kinda annoying, tbh. Before when prophecies were given, the cats did stuff. Like, they were confused, but sorta went about their business, and things eventually fit, or they made a single action in the hopes that it'd work out. If it didn't, they were frustrated, but kept trying. We don't have for these past arcs. The signs are still vague, but the Clancats themselves are really dependent, so now nothing gets done without StarClan's detailed seal of approval. They just sit around and wait for things to happen. I think it's been like that since PO3.

They were once understandable about being vague, but nowadays...they're about as vague as rumors of the thylacine still being alive.

They were once understandable about being vague, but nowadays...they're about as vague as rumors of the thylacine still being alive. Exactly. StarClan seemed to make them vague before, because they wanted the Clans to find their own way, or at least interpret their prophecies/visions and actually take action. It's not like that now. The Clans pretty much panic and sit around if StarClan isn't there holding their paws the whole time...hell, the best example is recently, with Puddleshine not wanting to take Tawnypelt to the Moonpool.

Suddenly, Puddleshine's popularity after that stunt isn't looking too good. The first arc's handling of StarClan is kind of like Lord Of The Rings. There are higher powers in both book series, and they both decided to let the mortals, both good and bad, decide their own fates even if they help a little. But now, StarClan is treating the mortal cats like they're either kittens or puppets, and they're pulling the strings.
