hmmmmmm let's go with, like, cousin. That would probably make the most sense; after all, in a small kingdom, probably most of the prominent nobles are gonna be related.
So, I guess we kind of have the general place of (our four) characters figured out, so, we should figure out what it is they're actually trying to accomplish. Since you're doing the prince, I figure I'll let you decide the general theme of his plight.

Yeah, I'm sure we could work in a thief as well! As far as I know we don't really have any particular characters we're in need of. There seems to be a theme of having a fully human character and a magical character, so if you wanted to do a thief to start and then having a magical creature or person come in later, you could probably do that. Or, if you just want the one character, that's fine too. But yeah, a thief is probably fine if you want that, but we could work with other things too.

I might have him lose something important, maybe accidentally letting the thief steal an heirloom? Or be caught doing something -unsavory- for a royal? I’m not sure xD Also yeah, whatever characters you want to fit in we could find a role for if you do do a thief that could be the first three on the adventure: knight, prince, and thief? Then warlock, beast, and other magical creature if you want to add one in 😋

Hmmmm. Maybe the kingdom needs something, like it's in danger somehow and it needs some kind of magic item to fix it? And that item can only be claimed by royalty?

Hmmm. You could always still go with the idea of the prince being somehow "disgraced" too. And maybe that could be why he wants to get it, so he can prove his worth? Maybe he has like an older brother or something who's a jerk, and he's like "Well if I can get the thing before HE does, then I'll take the throne instead." Or something, to up the stakes or whatever. Idk. I'm throwing out ideas lol.

Yes I like the idea that he was framed for something and has to now redeem himself. And sure strider, throw ideas out if you have them!

Hmm, so here's what we have so far. The kingdom is in danger somehow, and only a magical object which can only be claimed by one of royal blood can help it. Previously, the prince was framed for something he didn't do by his sister (whether or not he knows she is the culprit at this time, I'm not certain; could have him not know yet, for dramatic effect later), presumably disgracing him to eliminate any claim he may have to the throne. Upon hearing that this quest needs to be made, the prince decides to go and search for this item- possibly sneaking out to do so, hoping to reach it before his sister does so that he can redeem himself. He enlists the help of his childhood friend and cousin, a young woman who dreams of becoming a knight but was rejected from doing so due to her gender.
That's the setup. The pair quickly meet up with some sort of thief, though how- and why said thief joins their cause- is yet undecided. Later, the (now) trio will come upon a talking bear, who was once a human and seeks to lift his own curse, as well as a warlock.
Perhaps the thief has some practical knowledge- of the item, the plight of the kingdom, of the environment, or just helpful skills- which are needed by the prince. Having been in trouble before, perhaps they seek pardon if they help to save the kingdom. The thief could either be sought out (perhaps they are in the dungeon or something, and immediately known to the prince), or perhaps they are encountered slightly later, perhaps in the city. Alternatively, perhaps the thief is in no trouble at all, and, with the knowledge and skills the prince needs, ends up being "hired" by him. This could be an interesting alternative; sort of a foil to the other characters- with no personal stake in the quest and nothing to prove, their interest is purely monetary and entirely selfish (though, that could of course change as the rp went on, with the power of "friendship" and all).
I also have a couple of ideas for how they could encounter the bear. The first idea is that perhaps the bear was captured and is being "showcased" somewhere in the city, possibly sold as an oddity or else just displayed. The prince, knight, and (possibly) thief come to the rescue, and the bear joins with them both out of gratitude and with the hope that aiding them will help to lift his curse. Another idea is that he is encountered in the forest, possibly being hunted either by the main characters for food, or by someone else. Somehow or another it is discovered that he is intelligent (possibly after he is wounded somehow), and again is helped by, and subsequently helps, the prince and his entourage.
I don't know anything about the warlock so I don't really have any ideas there lol.

Awesome, I'm glad :D yeah, I definitely think it might be interesting to have a character whose motives aren't really altruistic, nor even really invested in the true "success" of the quest, at least at first.

Whatever you think will work best for the character ^^
At this moment I'm not really sure what the object is or how it relates to the kingdom's problems. I could probably come up with some ideas.
