BerryTooth nodded numbly before following after SparrowHeart. They hadn't reset the scent markers but a later patrol could do that instead. For now she wanted to get back to camp and then clean her fur of the scent of death.

BerryTooth rounded a tree near camp and saw a familiar white she-cat. "MistyPool!" She raced toward the she-cat, glad that she had returned instead of gone missing like the deputy or... MorningFlower. "Where have you been? You've been gone all night and today."

BerryTooth looked at the herbs and then back at MistyPool. "Then tell us the short form. I was about to go report something we found to ViperStar. We can tell her why you were gone while we're at it so you don't have to go yourself."

Mistypool smiled at Berrytooth,"That would be nice, though I think I better speak for myself when the time comes." she sighed and shrugged her shoulders. The thought of seeing Viperstar worried her; the leader had scared her before but now she had a reason to fear her.

"I was hunting while it was cool out and came across a loner. I chased it out so far out that I decided to find somewhere to sleep out instead of coming back to camp." She meowed confidently, as if proud of her actions, but internally cringed at her own words. It wasnt technically a lie, She had taken Marble away from the territory and stayed the night. Mistypool hated to describe the pretty shecat as "it".

The grey shecat turned to look as Sparrowheart after the other shecat spoke, her tone charging from confident to surprised, "Dead is a big conclusion to jump too. Glad my clan mates have confidence in me to survive a night on my own." Mistypool teased, not knowing what her clan mates had witnessed earlier.

Mistypool perked up and started to look around for the other shecat, "Oh is she okay, where is she..." and then it dawned on her. Why they and thought that she could be dead...

Mistypool tail dropped and she stood still, "Oh my stars...poor thing." The grey shecat looked up to Sparrowheart, remembering how distant the other shecat had looked earlier, "Oh Sparrowheart, I'm so sorry...Morningflower was your mother's sister, right."

Mistypool froze and the fur along the back of her neck began to bristle. If the clan thought it was Marble they might look for her even if she wasn't in the territory. "um...its pelt was mostly silver but had some dark markings." She meowed, before adding, "I think it might have been a kittypet, and it didn't put up much of a fight...I don't think a cat like that could kill another." Mistypool tried to keep her points vague and refused to think that Marble could be a killer. Nope. Not a chance!

Mistypool turned and started to pick her fur down. "Sorry...sorry...its been a rather eventful night and morning. I just can't believe someone could kill a medicine cat." she meowed, hoping Berrytooth would accept her answer.
