I like her! She's an interesting character. I understand why some people hate her, but I just can't. I don't think she's that bad.

Loved her in the first book of AVOS, but she was out of character in the following books, and robbed of the chance to have a good character arc.

She intrigues me. I am torn between liking her and disliking her, she is obviously flawed, manipulative and treated most cats terribly. I do like that she tried to redeem herself in the end, and I like thinking about her reasons behind joining The Kin.

I liked her in the first book, felt she was out of character in 2 and part of 3, but loved that she tried to redeem herself in 3. I'm bummed that she got killed. Though I must admit that having her soul and the souls of others be somewhere between StarClan and Dark Forest. |

I like that her last act was protecting Violetshine (especially considering how toxic Needle was to her). As a character, god knows she isn't the best, and I'd hate to know her irl, but I loved her scenes, because she caught me off guard a lot. Still, I also liked that she was a restless spirit afterward and the reveal when Tree saw her. I really wanted to know what she'd have to do to reach StarClan/whatever afterlife to atone for her actions. Violetshine's dreams of her especially caught my interest.
Then I read the ROF prologue. She's back to spouting the same crap as before, while taking no responsibility for her hand in ShadowClan's downfall. It would've happened eventually, I guess, but there's no denying that she was the first domino. She's the one who made contact with Darktail and the rogues in Thunder and Shadow, and had been talking to them for a while before she introduced them to Violetshine and Sleekwhisker, then slowly helped poison the other ShC apprentices (or that's how I read it. She'd rile them up repeatedly until many of them followed her when she left). She was a major key in why everything escalated so quickly, and why the devastation left behind was so bad.
But she doesn't see it that way apparently, and that bugs me.

She was an incredibly good supporting character in The Apprentice's Quest, and ever since has been... okay, for me. I neither despise her nor love her.

Love her. She was a flawed, interesting person and had a good character arc, with a good death. Her visiting Alderheart and asking about Twigbranch/Violetshine was really sweet, it's nice that she's still looking out for them.

To me, she has always been different and interesting in her personality, which made me like her so much. Needletail is/was? striking, sharp-tongued, blunt, and realistic, so it was like a breath of fresh air seeing someone like Jayfeather or Yellowing. She's kinda them in a sense, but then she turned into somewhat of a villain, which didn't change my opinion on her. She was still the blunt cat who spoke her mind, and obviously she was very annoying and was terrible to her clan, but honestly many cats were like that. Her selfishness and brashness did catch me off guard, but Needletail came around by her death like I knew she would and is trying to fix her mistakes, sweetly visiting Alderheart and Violetshine in the process.
