Mk so I want to get back into activity here a bit and I know most of y'all can say the same. And it's always a great way to get people together to do something together. (though I won't deny, the inspiration came from my brain imagining eragon fanfic; don't ask).
anyways, I was thinking we could make a bunch of short stories that follow a certain theme. Perhaps colors, trees, astrology/time, weather ect you get the picture. There'll be a list of related things to claim and each person would write their own short (following some guidelines if necessary, like length or perhaps the inclusion of a thing/character/idea/theme, perhaps make one all different kinds of poems ect).
I could see this becoming a short story contest theme like tuesday's weekly things. but I could also see this being a bit higher quality and making them a page to be compiled as an anthology of sorts with all the author's shorts.
it could also work as both? A contest first and then put them together second. But then there would be 'better' and 'worse' parts of the anthology due to the scores and if they are an anthology I think pushing for people to work together and collab/bounce ideas off each other would be a better environment for that instead of the closed, competitive nature if they were in a contest. just my thoughts, leave yours below.
but yeah I think this could be a great opportunity for people to get back into writing with something more lighthearted than a fic and work together to showcase other, lesser known people's works. If this goes to be an anthology I'd also allow and encourage two (or more) people to take a prompt and collab it. A little short thing to work together on instead of a whole fic type deal.
Thoughts? opinions? interest? Also suggestions with more themes because wow I'm bad at thinking of more. All I really had coming into this was colors. xD

I think this would be fun! You could assign teams to tackle a prompt? Like a team of two (one well known author and one less known?)

I voted for both; make it a contest but then compile it later as a big WFF Anthology!

Yeah if it's a contest I'll def have a mandatory pairs thing but I was hoping people would try and pair up on their own if I pushed for it in the other parts.

Great ideas, brownie! Everything sounds awesome. I’ll definitly participate in whatever you decide to do. It’s been so long since there’s been any kind of contest around, so it’ll be great regardless

Honestly I think either would be great! It would be nice if people paired up with someone they knew less well, like Shadow's idea.

I'm surprised theres so many votes for both. Ig I could judge. Perhaps me and either one or two others would both judge and write the opening peice? Ours wouldnt be part of the contest but this way even the judges could participate ^^
So now the question is: optional partners or would group writing be a requirement? I'm thinking it would be optional so people could enter solo but it would also be very much encouraged to find someone else. I think y'all would be good at seeking people out and being inclusive but making it not completly mandatory allows people who don't have the time to participate (on vacation or busy schedule ect)

I think that optional would work, because people do tend to seek out cowriters on here and like you said, people with busy schedules could still participate even if the schedules don't really work out.

So cool! I voted for both. I think I might come in solo, as I don't know anyone enough to cowrite a piece with them. Great ideas, Brownie!

That's the point of finding a group ^^ most the authors here want to write with people they haven't written with before and a short story is a great way to do so. Don't be afraid of speaking up to people you would like to write with; we don't bite and it'll be a great to meet new people and learn from each other

Also the base page is up for y'all to start planning your evil plans on. Feel free to use here or discord or pms or whatever you're comfortable with. There's tons of options for collabs nowadays.

Perhaps I should step out of my comfort zone a little bit.
