Prologue
Darktail opened his eyes. He was a little confused where he was. Then, realized that he was back in the lake, except that instead of normal water, instead was a dark, black liquid. He thought back to the fighting, where his father dragged him to the lake. He remembered him thrashing around, trying to get back into the surface. He swallowed back his anger. He didn't make it out alive.
"Darktail?" a plump black-and-white tom with glossy fur asked. Darktail realized that the cat was Max.
"So you are here too," Darktail narrowed his eyes. "Does that mean the rest of the kin that died are here too?"
"Thistle, Roach, and Spikefur are here. I think the rest of us are still alive," he answered. "They are practicing battle moves right now. Should I go fetch him? Also, I noticed that we can get back to their world by going under the water. I tried it, and it sent me outside the lake. Luckily it was night."
"Yes, please, and thank you for the information," he replied. He realized that the clans can still be destroyed. He smiled wickedly. He can get back to the world of clans, and destroy them. It was not the end of his reign, but it was the beginning.
Chapter 1
"Touch your nose into the water," Kestrelflight instructed. Harespring was very nervous, but he let his nose into the pool, and felt like he was falling. Suddenly, it stopped. He heard footsteps behind him, and saw Onestar, as strong as ever.
"Welcome," his voice boomed. "Today, you will no longer be deputy, but a leader of WindClan." Ashfoot stepped up.
"With this life, I give you courage. Even though you are in fear of what will happen, courage will burn through you." At once, Harespring felt like is body was on fire, but soon, it stopped.
"Thank you," he replied. Next, Sunstrike came up.
"With this life, I give you mercy. A warrior does not kill to win, even if his claws were sharpened with the power of the Dark Forest." Again, Harespring felt like he was on fire. He felt guilt for training in that place. "Do not feel guilty, for you have stayed faithful to your clan, where others were not," he replied gently.
"With this life, I give you resistance. Even if you are stained with your own blood, you will resist surrender and help your clan of whatever is going on." Harespring had not seen Furzepelt step up, but instead of feeling pain, he felt his fur get stronger. He dipped his head.
"I, Tallstar, give you a life of hope. Even though it feels like everything is lost, hope shall burn through your mind." Harespring felt another spasm of agony, but also hope. He nodded. He saw small, pale pinkish-gray she-cat step up.
"I am Heatherstar, once a leader of Windclan. I give you the life of confidence. Use it to lead your clan wisely." Harespring felt like he was ready for anything, insults to challenges. He nodded at the she-cat, and waited for the next cat, which happened to be Owlwhisker.
"I give you a life of love. Love your clan and cats as if they were your own kits. And the one you are mooning on." He said the last part with a little bit of amusement. Harespring saw Featherpelt in his mind, smiling at him. Embarrassed, he dipped his head.
"I, Tornear give you a life of judgement. Use it wisely when you must." Harespring felt hot fire once more, and almost yowled in pain. He managed to thank Tornear.
"I, Webfoot give you a life of sight. Use it to view everything in WindClan." Harespring suddenly saw all of WindClan, then back to StarClan.
"Thank you," he replied. He waited for the next cat, which was Barkface.
"I give you the life of pride. Have pride in your clan like a mother having pride in her kit." Harespring felt happiness rush through him. He thanked him, and knew the last life will be from Onestar.
"I give you the life of wisdom. Use it to make your clan strong," he said. "Welcome, Harestar. You are now leader of WindClan."
"Harestar! Harestar!" everyone cried. Thank you. I will do my best to protect WindClan, he thought.
Chapter 2
Harestar woke up, Kestrelflight right behind him. "Lets go home, Harestar," he said. So they went home.
Back in camp, Featherpelt cried, "Harestar's back!" and rushed up to him.
"Harestar! Harestar!" everyone cried.
"Thank you. As my first act of leader, I announce Crowfeather as deputy." Crowfeather stepped up, while everyone shouted "Crowfeather! Crowfeather!" He dipped his head and said, "I am proud to be your deputy. I will protect WindClan as long as I'm alive." Breezepelt glared at him icily for a moment, but then he joined the chanting.
"Harestar, I'll have to speak through you in private, now. We have matters to discuss," Kestrelflight told him.
"Of course," he replied. He walked in, wondering what he had to say.
"First, you have to see what will happen in the future. Do you think SkyClan or ShadowClan or both should stay?" he asked.
"Hopefully, both. They are part of the five clans. SkyClan and ShadowClan shouldn't be merging with each other," he replied.
"You're right because without either, there will be no clans," he said. Harestar was shocked.
"None?" he asked.
"None. Firestar showed me a leaf of 5 points. A leaf dies if part of it is ripped. We must act to save it."
"But how? We aren't Shadow or SkyClan. Only Rowanstar can save it, but now he's Rowanclaw."
"True, but there is another. I had a vision of Tigerheart, Dovewing, other members of ShadowClan, some loners I'm guessing, and kits traveling back home. He can save it. You must tell the others," he replied.
"Yes, but shouldn't we say it later? Rowanclaw was outraged when his cats warned him, and he has lost hope in ShadowClan. SkyClan is too busy taking pride of having control of ShadowClan. We'll get nowhere," he said.
"Very well then, but you must give them hope," he warned.
