Hello everyone. Shadow here with a quick update on my goals for this spring (and in particular for Spring Break).
First off, a quality of life update: I have switched my major from Geology to English a few days ago. I will now be pursuing a Bachelors in English and might very well aim for a Masters and a Doctorate in Creative Writing (it's a giant maybe). This means that I will still be graduating in Spring 2019 AND that I will be writing a TON more. I have already been gearing to enter into some creative writing journals and general literature journals on campus and will be keeping my eyes out for contests. :'D
Now for the fun stuff; my personal projects.
CotV is in full tilt toward finishing Curse by this year. For Spring Break (which for me starts this Saturday) I plan on finishing chapter 37 of Curse and chapter 2 of Starborn: Lunar Rebirth.
Just a reminder, Curse is going to have 40 chapters in total with a rather long epilogue to finish it off. After the behemoth has been slain, I will be FINALLY continuing on with Dark Side of the Moon as my main focus and will re-introduce The Wanderer as the next story in the series. Remember that Dark Side of the Moon is a companion novel to Curse and that The Wanderer is a prequel.
As for future plans, I'm pretty sure Silence is going to be next novel after The Wanderer. For those of you who might not remember, Silence takes place during a period known as the Blood Wars where the Valley cats fought against the Tribe with Cursed fighting on both sides. The main character, Amelia, is a she-cat with rettsyndrome who must navigate this war. Amelia was inspired by my sister who also has rettsyndrome, so it will be a very personal journey for me. This story takes place hundreds of years prior to The Wanderer, Dark Side of the Moon and Curse.
While Curse is nearing the end and the big switch to a new novel is happening in the Clans of the Valley world, I will also be setting my sights on newer projects: Tidecaller & Starborn.
Tidecaller has been neglected these past several months, but I wish to bring it back (possibly this coming week if I get the time) and begin doing intermittent updates like I have been with Starborn.
Tidecaller focuses on Ceto, a she-cat born to become the next Tidecaller, the sworn enemy of the sea god and the protector of her Tribe. Nothing is as simple as it seems though, and she must go through strenuous training with an ancient tom known as the Water Bearer who seems to hold all the answers. I began this last summer for the Beach Bash event. And thanks to surprising amounts of encouragement and interest from a few fellow readers, I decided to continue it. Right now I haven't made a structured plot, though I have a good idea of the bare-bones plot (antecedent action, conflict, rising action, ect.) so it won't be difficult to start. The Tidecaller Universe encompasses more than just Ceto's world, but that has yet to be flushed out, so for now, Tidecaller will be a stand alone novel.
Starborn on the other hand kind of took off out from under my nose and I've been brainstorming non-stop for it ever since I got the idea about a month ago. I couldn't even prevent myself from making an official thread for it and posting the prologue and first chapter. Too much excitement was bursting out of my hands. x'D Starborn: Lunar Rebirth will continue its unsteady updates until it is finished. I have a detailed plot in the works at the moment and have a solid idea for much of what will occur in the story. The ending isn't quite figured out yet which is why I'm mainly focusing on solidifying the plot before I blindly update. Starborn: Lunar Rebirth is a stand alone novel and so far doesn't have any sequels or prequels going for it. It's my newest idea, so patience is required.
And that is all for now. Of course I could talk to you all about my original work: The Forest of Kalmera Trilogy, but that's a discussion for another time. :'P All you need to know is that one of the novels is being called "Chasing the Wild". If you'd like to see more about it, come check me out on WeHeartit under the name a.l.starks or come to my website: Fateoffire.com
Thanks for reading. Have a happy and safe spring break everyone. <3
