Honestly, I know declawing cats is terrible and I never would have done it myself but I sometimes find myself slightly grateful Fletcher and Camille got declawed because I don't need to trim their nails or worry about getting even more scars when they end up getting filthy and needing a bath or to be wiped down. Will is sometimes good about his claws but he'll really only allow one paw at a time before getting snippy so we get one, then leave him alone for an hour, get the other one and so on.

The original 6 were all declawed, but then it came out how really bad it was for them, so now my oldest 2 are declawed, and the youngest 3 aren't. This time around back claws needed trimming as well, so all 5 had some work done. Most of the time they all do so well, but I guess Pandora was in a mood. She has a lot of those lately - she wants affection, but doesn't want YOU to know that she wants it.

Declawing being bad was just a thing I knew as long as I could remember. But my dad's cat when he first married my mom was declawed. He had to do it because the apartment he was living in before basically told him to declaw her or get rid of her or be evicted- which was a tough choice.
These two were declawed just because Dakota's mom decided they were being too destructive. But like. When I went to live with them, they had no scratching posts, trees, toys, anything. So yeah of course they were destroying furniture and shit THEY WERE BORED. They were her cats but when we all decided to move out and go different ways she decided she didn't even want them and wasn't looking for a place that allowed pets.
Sorry I think I've said this all before. It just still annoys me to no end to think about how much she didn't care and sees them as "just a pet." Dakota told me they also had a puppy when he was younger, but she spent no time training the puppy, so when it did as puppies do, they got rid of it.

I agree whole heartedly that you make a commitment to an animal for life. My husband right now is of the mindset that it's time to "Let Sydney go" because she's blind, showing all the signs of dementia, and poops outside of the litter box. My mindset is as long as she's not in physical pain, she deserves her life. When I let them out on the sun porch every day, the look on her face is pure bliss as she goes out to find a sunny spot to sleep in. Doesn't seem too miserable to me. Sure she gets lost in the hall sometimes and forgets where she is/where she's going, but she still without fail greets me at the back door every morning when I get home for work, and I will take that initial 10 minutes she recognizes me each day over nothing anytime.

Yeah I'm with you there.
Camilles health is very touch and go- I have my suspicions she is getting dementia too but not quite that bad. We changed their diet so her liver wouldn't have to work as hard and her new medication for her thyroid is making her gain weight again which is actually a good thing because she was starting to be frightfully skinny. Even though we still call her our Fat Gorl.

Also I don't like Jelly, but in Australia It's Jam and jello is Jelly, but I lived in America from when I was half a year old to when I was about three so about 2 and a half years, so I learned how to talk there, so I get made fun of for how I say things lol when I was younger I thought that they put like jello on a sandwich and I was like WTF why can't I have this

Jelly and Jam are two different things and Jello is gelatin.

I'm sure there are college students out there somewhere that put jello on a sandwich, especially if they're jello shots

"Jelly is made with strained fruit juice. There are no pieces of fruit in jelly. Jam: Jam is made with mashed fruit. Preserves: Preserves have whole fruit or large pieces of fruit" - google

Being a non fruit eater, I dislike it all. The closest I'll come to liking "Jelly" is the fact that Pandora's shelter name was Jelly, which my husband still to this day calls her.

When I was little I used to slurp jello up with a straw, if that counts for anything.

Jumping in the conversation, but I recently had to put my dog down, which was sad for me, she was having bladder problems, her back legs were giving out, she was becoming blind and deaf and then bleeding randomly in places she shouldn't. She lost a ton of weight until she was basically a skeleton, most of that stuff was happening in the last couple of weeks, because we wanted to make sure that she wasn't in physical pain. The thing that had made her more special then everything is that we had had her since before I was born and she was the first thing that I laughed at, and I was a cranky child, I wouldn't laugh at anything apparently (mostly because I had silent reflexes, and my parents didn't know so yeah), and then there was this time that I remember running around the house bleating like a sheep when I found out that she was a sheep dog (don't judge me I was like 4) and she would chase me, I thought that it was hilarious. but when we put her down, I didn't get to hug her goodbye... All I was trying to say was that I understand what you are going through, and then it turned into a bit of a ramble, but yeah.

Also they're not the same thing, jelly has no seeds when jam does, and gelatin is crushed up animal bones, revolting. Like I get where your coming from and I guess it's all about where you come from, where I come from, they're all different things

Riverstream [hiatus] I'm sorry that you lost her. To lose an animal you love is one of the most painful things to go through in my opinion. I'm sorry you didn't get to say goodbye - so far I've been lucky enough to be holding each of the ones I've lost as they passed. At least you know she loved you back just as much if not more than you loved her, and that she is no longer suffering.

Turin: Goodnight, hope they don't keep you in the pit too long.
River: That's terrible but I also get how that feels. My mom was given a kitten not long after I was born who was my "kitty sister" She lived to be 18 and a half before needing to be put down, but honestly I think my mom should have done it sooner than it happened because she was basically unmoving and having seizures daily but my mom didn't want to let her go. It was really sad. And at that point they already kicked me out so I only got the news of her passing away months later through text and it crushed me.

Yeah, that would be really hard for you, not being there, and it was a similar situation, with my dog (who's name was Roxi btw) where we should have put her down, but couldn't.
