Welp...I mega poofed. How have you guys all been? I've been mostly good... this week is stressful, but today i woke up without the headache, so I'm hoping it will be a better day. The UK bookseller agreed to my request to refund the book and half the shipping, which came at a good time, because I actually went $26 in the hole yesterday with my bank account because this bookcase thing is costing so much more (the money was in the account, it just technically belonged to my cats) so I'm back in the black for now. Gonna have to borrow a couple hundred from my husband though. How have you been? Did your school get cancelled? How's the job going? I’ve been super congested for over a week right now. It’s really not fun, since it’s making me a bit lightheaded. Thankfully, I think it’s beginning to clear up. I was planning on going to Denver this weekend to be with friends, but we ended up canceling the trip. One of our friends’ coworkers has the virus, and he doesn’t want to risk spreading it to us. I can’t say that I’m not disappointed, since I was looking forward to it for a month. Next week is my spring break, but in person classes are being put on hold for the two weeks after break. We’re going online for the time being. My job has been hit and miss recently. A guy from corporate came a few weeks ago when I was on orders (which is my least favorite thing) and he said I was doing a great job. However, the manager that drives me insane heard about that and switched me on orders right in the middle of a rush. I was already not feeling well, so when she started yelling at me, I had a nervous breakdown. (The good thing is, we were able to talk it out afterwards and we’re fine for now.)

I finally got my Valve Index headset in today, except I learned that my computer doesn't have the correct ports to actually use it and my local Best Buy didn't have an adapteraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh
Oh well, I ordered one on Amazon. I waited four months for the darned thing, I can wait four more days.

Brindlebriar What part of Europe? How was the COVID panic over there? Maplestone360 I could use some Florida time right about now. Rανєη'ѕ ƑƖιgнт I'm sorry your trip got cancelled, but that was good of your friend to not want to put all of you at risk. My work recently switched managers, and I was worried because I didn't know this new guy at all and my first time meeting him was when I called him at 11:30pm to tell him maintenance refused to go on the roof to flip the breaker for the lobby heat (it was in the low 20's that night, and when I came in it was already 60 and dropping, so I wasn't going to freeze all night due to someone else's laziness), but he said he had heard nothing but good things about me before coming over, so that's a relief. I'm glad you and your manager worked it out.

(And I say that as in "in terms of VR headsets it's not the best" not as in "Hmmph, I'm ungrateful for this few-hundred-dollar virtual reality headset that many gamers could only dream of")

Sour Candy I'm a bit glad that I didn't get into VR until late last year when Boneworks came out and Half-Life: Alyx was announced. Though sometimes, it's a bit hard to explain why I chose to get an Index headset, haha; I usually end up resorting to "it's got really good visuals compared to the contemporary Oculus and I don't mind the tether" and "I really really really wanted the Knuckles controllers." Though for now it's just... well, sitting there being a thousand-dollar blindfold. Taunting me, telling me that those fancy schmancy VR games are so close yet so far... Is that Rift showing its age, yet? Or is it still pretty good?

Somehow, after a day of nonstop studying, I'm actually feeling like I got something done! Now all I want to do is play video games.

In terms of VR it is a bit of an older model, but especially since VR is still the "wild west" of gaming right now it still holds strong. I mean my only issue with it is that it doesn't have 360 tracking like other headsets.

Turin not TorinoWe were in Switzerland, Germany, France and Austria. People over there are WAY more calm than what’s happening in America. Honestly, I’d rather be other there right now. The amount of panic here is ridiculous. We barely made it back since the annoying orange in Office banned all travel to and from Europe the NIGHT we flew in. We were going to go to Italy but they banned travel there since it’s so bad there. That’s where they’re doing mass quarantines :/ Regardless, I had a lot of fun and was depressed about having to come back to boring old Missouri.

The panic here is beyond ridiculous. I went to the grocery store today, and we ended up with a complete hodge podge of random stuff that we might be able to put together to make meals. I really wanted some rice, but there was none to be found. I didn't buy the stuff I wanted to eat at the beginning of the week thinking, "I'm on vacation, I'll just go get stuff as I need it". Yet another fail for this vacation. At this point, if I can just get the bookshelves completed on Wednesday, I'll consider it a success.

Yknow I wouldn't be nearly as anxious if the panic wasn't 80% higher than it needs to be

The only part I'm seriously panicking about right now is my going in for my surgery Tuesday. I don't want them to test me and it comes back positive and I go under quarantine for 2 weeks and this guy won't be allowed to come finish my bookshelves. I want my room back dammit, I don't like living in a mini construction zone.
As for fear of getting it... I really don't have any. I feel it's inevitable for me to get it, so why stress out about it? Knowing it's worse than a cold but better than the flu helps. Of all these diseases over the last couple of decades that have circulated, as soon as I heard about this one starting up, before it ever even left China, I knew I was going to end up with it. I've never felt that way about any of the others, and my gut feelings like this are rarely wrong. It's to be expected with my job I guess - I see too many people from too many places, and there's no way to avoid the close proximity as far as having them sign papers and handing out keys or even handling cash/credit cards. As crappy as this vacation has been as far as things going wrong and now being stuck at home because everything I could go do is basically shut down, I think it was a good week to be away from work. We do have a large show in town next weekend though that would normally sell the hotel out, and I have yet to hear of it being cancelled, although I'm pretty sure it will be.

I am determined to not let this fear stuff ruin my plans. I'm a little more cautious knowing it's finally nearby, but like dammit I'm gonna go see/do what I planned for and if I get it I get it. I probably won't die and if I do, oh well!
I'm gonna go to the big cat sanctuary and get donuts tomorrow.
