Aah thanks! <3 I had a bit of trouble separating him from Rose at first as they're both too smart and beautiful for their own good, as well as extroverts who love people- So I've kind of established that he is a very short vampire who pretends he isn't and loves controlling people- and sweets. And he's not a good person in the way Rose generally is- But he's #Cute so there's that.

"I won't allow it." He wrinkled his nose at her, "I put a lot of work into ensuring you don't become a dead body." There wasn't much censure in his tone, as he was preoccupied with being amused at her embarrassed state. As borderline enemies, Ambrosius didn't often have the chance to see her blush and he was thoroughly enjoying the sight. "Hideous." He huffed, giving her an offended look. "That's rich coming from someone who wears the same leather jacket for every mission." He responded to her lighthearted tone with a teasing one, turning his attention to the sky with a speculative hum. "We'll see about that~ You did say that you would wear whatever I chose, did you not?" A wicked grin overtook his features and he brushed gloved fingers over the curve in his lips. "Say, and this is just an example, a period maid uniform~?" If Rose were prone to evil laughter, he would take this chance to make it known. As it were, he kept to an ominous chuckle. That was actually a good idea...He wouldn't force her to wear it, but he did find the image of her in the headpiece at least rather...cute. It was unlikely that it would stay on her spiked hair though. He glanced over at her almost fondly.

"I don't buy that." Rose asserted, waving away her words. "No one is truly boring, even those who find watching paint dry exciting." His tone is still light when he continues, "it is a feat of impossibility to live a purely happy life if it is also a long one." Then his tone lowers, eyelids going to half mast as he smirks and leans toward her. "Oh there is quite a lot that I'd like to know. So," Rose easily returned to casual and lighthearted. "If you absolutely had to choose- and you do- taffeta or lace?"

He smirked triumphantly at her response, poorly covering it up with gloved fingers. Had they still been antagonistic, Rose could have offered a number of caustic responses to that assertion, but instead he spreads his hands as if in a placating manner. "I wasn't making fun," he assured earnestly, "no need to get short with me." He can't believe that her penchant for puns has rubbed off on him so quickly.

Ambrosius too paused when their eyes met, smiling at each other in a way that doesn't reflect camaraderie, exactly. At least it isn't solely camaraderie. He found himself scanning her face as if it were a puzzle, smile still absently curling his lips. It only widened when her face flushed and she covered it with her hands. He shifted his gaze with a quiet smugness tainting his expression, angling his head so obsidian hair concealed the warmth rising to his cheeks. "You will see in time." He promised, perhaps a little ominously.

His roseate eyes softened when she slouched down with a soft inhale, tutting at her poor posture more for the sake of giving her flak than anything. He wanted to reach over and make her more comfortable but found himself hesitating for some...ridiculous reason. "It does not count." He arched a brow disapprovingly. "You were in pain and couldn't rest properly-" He trailed off when she admitted to being worried about him, even going so far as to swearing to keeping watch well. Surely she didn't think he was reluctant because he doubted her? "I know I can trust you to keep watch, Kat. It is simply that you shouldn't have to."

His lips quirked involuntarily at her laughter, but what she said next doesn't exactly invoke humor. Ambrosius had always known Alex to be rather genuine, even in her dislike for him. It was something he found both irritating and admirable, and to see it turned on him- He was just betrayed but never let it be said that he isn't an actual idiot. His chest was warm and he found a hand brushing stray locks of hair out of his face, mostly succeeding in not looking touched as he huffed out a long-suffering sigh. "Hm, you say that like it's some great prize." He slanted her a discerning look, eyeing her up and down as if considering the offer. The emotion in her tone and expression on her face was ultimately what broke him from his attempt at further teasing. "We'll take turns." He finally relented. "It isn't as if I can reject such an enticing offer." While the casual flick of his fingers is airy, the near-flirtatious smile is decidedly not.

Ambrosius could hardly believe the events of a few hours ago even happened when he caught that starlit glimmer in her dark eyes. Had they really been sniping at each other for the better part of a day? Wasn't their discussion on trust a mere few minutes past? It doesn't feel like it when she's smiling like that, letting her softer, more effusive side show when she reached out to grab the amused vampire by the shoulders and excitedly rattled off a list of all the movies and scenes they could recreate. If only- if- and they will. Alex is so excited about something so cute and...normal. She was smiling widely, giving him a charming glimpse of her fangs as she interrupted her own train of thought and he couldn't help remembering those hints at her reasons for being distrustful in the first place. He knew he was making too much of this- Of course he is- But this makes her happy and he's part of it. She's relying on him to make her happy in this way and he'll be damned if he'll prove untrustworthy in this regard. Even for such a frivolous pursuit- He's already composing a list of professionals to make her rambling become a reality.

Smiling beneficently, Ambrosius idly patted the hand that rested on one of his shoulders, eyes half-lidded and chin tilted as he hummed; "Well we'll have to do right by them, won't we? I imagine that includes appropriate wardrobe changes." Ah, another shot at seeing her in a dress. He will absolutely take it.

"Oh? That remains to be seen." He purred, though the expression on his face seemed to communicate 'challenge accepted'. "My current ringtone has been getting rather dull~"

"I don't need-" Ambrosius began, but cut himself off at Alex's next words. He listened to her with a quiet sort of intentness, trying and mostly succeeding in keeping a downward tilt from overtaking his mouth. It was obvious that this took some effort to admit, after their history and all they'd been through both at HQ and this night alone. Ambrosius deals in words, a talent of his that has never truly failed him either in life or death. He can count on one hand the number of instances in which he hadn't known what to say, or hadn't been sure what to say- This wasn't one such instance, but it came close. "Kaltman," He flexed his fingers, uncertain whether or not she would accept a more physical response at this time. "You have value as you are. I don't care about your weaknesses or mistakes and I have no intention to abandon you for them. Not for that and not for you. Whatever we face, we face together. I'll prove to you that you can trust me- I don't care how long it takes." Ambrosius started in a low tone, but his voice gained strength as he spoke. "We're partners now, I dare you to try to get rid of me~" His head canted, grin flashing fang.

It had never occurred to him that they might be alike in this way- Alex never let it show and honestly, neither did he. But while Ambrosius opened himself up to be hurt again and again, she'd managed to close herself off to avoid it altogether. "You never really asked about me- which is a shame and disgrace because I am fascinating- but in the spirit of balance..." He idly ran a hand through his hair, steadying himself so as not to make it apparent that he was about to make a confession. "This isn't the first time someone I called friend has betrayed or otherwise tried to kill me. I doubt it will be the last, even." Ambrosius laughed and it wasn't quite bitter, more resigned. "I cannot smarten up like you. I..." He rushed the next words, aware that his pause was a touch too long. "Dislike being alone as well. So I have so many friends that I suppose I lose track of which ones are real." He waved a hand, as if this is inconsequential and happens to everyone.

She really needs to warn him before she does that. Alex subjected him to one of her genuine smiles- not the sarcastic or teasing ones he's accustomed to- and Ambrosius found himself responding in kind before he was even aware of it. His cheeks heated as he looked away under the guise of watching the sky for signs of enemies. "You're so transparent~ If you wanted me to hold you for warmth you could have simply asked and we could skip this night altogether." There was a brief pause before the teasing lilt faded from his voice. "I don't entirely...disagree with your sentiment, however. Though I could do without your injury."

Ambrosius is surprised yet again when Alex accepts his coat only to cocoon him in it. "What?" He can only laugh, watching in open amusement. It doesn't quite fade at her threat, only softens at the undercurrent of seriousness in her tone. He slips an arm free to beckon her closer, a teasing light still brightening his roseate eyes. "I will close my eyes once you've moved closer. A bit small for a space heater, but you'll do~"
