Bluerabbit. leaving the camp It took him a couple of moments to remember that Mallowpaw was quite the shy one; he remembered being like that in his early apprentice days, and even into the middle of the, too. Nowadays, it was a little easier to be less shy but, well - he understood it, nonetheless, and so he wasn't about to judge the younger tom on his actions. Instead, he continued to pat his egg between his paws and waited with a watchful gaze.
He could only imagine what the apprentice was going through; it was a sudden change, to have a mentor suddenly have little to no time. There was only so much he could do to help, and he could only hope that taking Mallowpaw out would be enough to alleviate some of the worries the tom could have. He could think of many, but he didn't know if those were thoughts that actually passed through his mind. Bluerabbit was, after all, prone to overthinking things, and so that often meant that he thought a little too deeply into situations where that much thought was not necessary.
"Of course," he mewed, pushing himself up and mournfully glancing to his egg. One day, my sweet one, he thought, gently patting it away. As expected, it rolled until it stopped by the fresh-kill pile; he'd become rather good at doing that, now. "I'm not sure what he's been teaching you, but if you show me, I can probably try to pick up where he left off," he shook himself out as he stood and stretched, back arching rather luxuriously. "If you'd like, I can show you some of my methods, too."
A glance to the corner of his eye told him that Poppytail was still being...well, undeniably Poppytail. There was nothing he would change about his sister, though perhaps he would've liked to have bonded with her more.
That was a thought of the past, now, and he didn't find it in himself to mind too much. The slender warrior turned and hopped a few steps before he paused, leaning his weight back into his hind legs to turn and look at Mallowpaw. He hesitated for a moment, before ducking his head sheepishly and considering his words for a few moments.
"My mentor had to adjust," he began softly. "She was often busy, and she had an apprentice who could not walk very well at the time. Her duties often led her on missions in far away lands, and that meant that I did not have her around as much as I would have liked. But...she also learned from her time away. She studied how rabbits and hares ran and hopped, and she began to teach me how to do that." his pause was a heartbeat too long. "What I'm trying to say is that...situations may seem bleak, and you may feel alone; but your mentor does care for you. Once Ashstar manages to settle into his duties and figures out how to work around them, he will return to you as he had been before. Until then, though, I'm willing to help however you wish; and I'm sure that other warriors feel the same."
Ew, words, he groaned internally, but he was truthful; that was something that could be trusted, with Bluerabbit. He did not have a sob story to gift to Mallowpaw; his mentor had been frequently busy, had always been over the mountain and trying to see if she could expand the territory in some way. But...she had tried, and that had been what had mattered, in his opinion.
In the end, it was just about seeing a small speck of light in a blanket of darkness. At first, it would seem impossible - but eventually, the light would grow and as it did, so would the hope. He'd graduated relatively early despite his difficulties, hadn't needed extra training once he'd learned to walk. His methods of hunting and fighting were differently to his clanmates', but it had the same effect. He was just as much of a warrior as them, and he would be ever thankful to his mentor for that.
His only regret was that he had been doing his Trial when she had died. If he could go back in time, he would; but there was nothing he could do about it, now. It had been many moons ago.

She nodded, grinning, "Okay!" Then flinched at how loud she had said that, "I mean, okay." She felt her pelt flood with embarrassment. He probably thinks I'm a mouse brain! As they stepped out into the forest, though, she felt the wind in her fur, the dirt in her paws, and the scent of prey trailing through her nostrils, she forgot all about her worries. { Sorry for short response, just got up }

Ghostpaw. in the forest Rising from where he'd been rather comfortable, Ghostpaw followed the other apprentice into the forest, ears perked forward. He parted his jaws to scent the air for prey, crouching low in the long grass. He'd found that it was easier to hunt in the Leafbare moons, when the entire forest seemed paler and more still, thus complimenting the way that he was.
The long tom's tail-tip twitched patiently as he watched and waited, gaze flicking up to the trees filled with birds before he looked back down. On a tree near him, a lizard made its quick climb upwards - and above that, a keen-eyed bird waited for it. He could smell the herd of deer deeper into the forest, but knew that not only were they too young to take even one down, they needed more warriors and it was not time to hunt them; not yet. Through the trees, he could see the volcano as it rose into the clouds.
He loved the freedom of this, loved how relieved he felt when he was out in the forest. Even this close to camp, he felt like there was nothing better. Though the stale scent of the bloodthirsty fox crisscrossed the territory as if it was its own, he hoped that it would be smarter than to try to mess with the entire Clan. It was one beast - there was no way it could defeat their warriors.
"Rabbit." his word was short and quiet, ears swivelling as he heard the creature. It would hear them before they saw it, which meant that he needed to be quick and quiet. Though anxiety bubbled in him at hunting in front of another, he pushed it down quickly. He couldn't be a warrior if he was this anxious all the time, he needed to do his mentor proud, needed to be strong and dependable. Crouched, he began to move through the tall grass quickly but quietly, slender body barely making a sound. As expected, the little brown rabbit was pulling at the ground, ears perked up. Could he leap from this distance? He could only hope.
Ghostpaw's powerful limbs pushed him forward as he leapt, front paws outstretched with his claws out. Though his paws scraped the side of the rabbit, it had noticed him just a split second before - it was quicker than he was and it darted away. Wounded, but alive. He landed on his paws and crouched again, debating a chase - but he knew that it was too far for him to have a chance. He was a very swift cat, yes, but he couldn't outrun a rabbit that had paces on him. A little disheartened, the apprentice returned to Emberpaw with his ears half-flattened.

"Stupid rabbit," She `said, pawing the dirt, "I saw what happened, that was really unfair," She felt her ears twitch, maybe I can make Ghostpaw feeling better. She grinned, "Look over there,"
Where she was pointing, a small rabbit and a mouse were sitting not too far away from each other, in the nook of two trees, "Wanna try again?" She grinned.

Ghostpaw. in the forest He wasn't sure if it was unfair, as such, but he could wait until later to go over his actions and try to figure out where he'd gone wrong. When Emberpaw pointed out another rabbit and a mouse, his ears perked up and he tilted his head slowly. The prey duo seemed to be entirely unaware of the two apprentices, enamoured by the food they'd found; it didn't look like grass, but he couldn't find it in himself to care. Ghostpaw crouched down before hesitating, glancing to the she-cat from the corner of his eye.
"You - y-you, you want one?" ah, so he'd pushed his luck with the speaking for today. That was fine. Though anxiety continued to bubble in his chest and worry his stomach, he needed to try to be more talkative. Whether it was just to make friends with the other apprentices or to communicate his worries with his mentor, he wanted to try to get over his issue.
Whatever that issue was. Feathersong had said that there was nothing wrong with him in the medicinal sense, which meant that it was probably the constant worry he felt that was causing his troubles with speaking to others.

She smiled, feeling warm inside, "Er... sure." She flicked her tail to the right, "I can go to the back, and spook them into running in your direction. All you have to do is catch them," She grinned, happy with her idea, "That okay with you?"
She started to creep to the back of two trees. She smiled once again, noticing that the rabbit nor the mouse had detected her. As she rounded the corner, she looked down and saw she was about to step on a twig, then fell over flat on her face in an attempt not to step on the branch. Though she landed softly, she didn't dare move. She rabbit had perked his ears up, looking nervous, and the mouse was twitching.
Mouse dung! She slowly dragged herself behind the prey, and then hissed. They bolted forward and ran straight in the direction of Ghostpaw.

Ghostpaw. in the forest Ghostpaw nodded quietly at her plan. It...seemed like a pretty good one, actually. He crouched in the grass and waited patiently, ears flattened against his skull as he waited for the prey to run towards him. At the sound of Emberpaw hissing, he tensed his muscles, ready to move. It seemed that both prey were moving in the same direction - both were fairly small, too; smaller than he'd thought they were.
He pounced into action, and the mouse certainly seemed to have given up, suddenly collapsing. Better ignore that for now, then, he thought, trapping the rabbit with his body and snapping forward, jaws closing around the back of its neck. It was dead within seconds, and he dropped his catch and checked on the mouse.
"I-I...?" he tilted his head. It died of fear, I think, he didn't say. How strange.

She went over to inspect the mouse, "Err... what the?" She poked it with a claw, it twitched, "I think it might be alive..." She poked it again, "Nope,"
She picked the dead mouse up in her jaws and carried it back to camp, "How strange. A mouse dying without any wounds. Could that happen to cats?" Her eyes widened at the thought of it.
{ Sorry for short response }

Ghostpaw. returning to camp Picking up the rabbit, Ghostpaw trotted alongside the other apprentice with his tail swishing back and forth, ears perked forward. Though he was still a little disappointed about losing the larger rabbit, but he could take this; he'd learned something about teamwork, and that was nice. In a Clan such as MoltenClan, he knew that teamwork was fairly essential to their survival - in the larger-scale hunts, or for the feasts...he was rather excited for the potential to be part of the hunt for one of those feasts, one day.
"Fe-fear, I think," he said around the prey in his jaws. "Yes, it c-ca-can happen to ca-ats."
At least, he'd heard of it happening to cats. He didn't really want to think about it; with the happenings around the territory, he wouldn't put it past the idea that someone (specifically, an apprentice) could die of fear. Maybe he would, if he saw the fox with hi own eyes. That was a terrifying thought, so he tried to shove it aside. "Nursery?" he asked, glancing to the mouse. The prey seemed to be good for the two Queens in the nursery, and if they gave the food to those two, then they could eat, too.

Emberpaw Returning to camp Replying to Zilong When Ghostpaw mentioned that it could happen to cats, her eyes got even wider, "Wow," She mewed, "Yes, I bet the queens would appreciate it." As the walked into camp, she felt her gaze trail to the leader's den, Should she tell Ashstar about the mouse? She flicked her ear, Why would they care? I bet it couldn't happen to cats... I think.
She quickened her pace as they reached the nursery. Maybe, I guess I could tell them. It wouldn't hurt, I guess. She turned her frown into a smile as they entered the nursery, and touched noses with her mother, "Hello, Redwish, how are you?"
{ Trying to make thing nicer }

Lynxfur In Camp Replying to anyone
As Lynxfur sat, uncomfortable, one leg sticking out behind him, he pondered himself. He was not in his usual defensive mood, and many were grateful for it. He blinked his multicolored eyes. Sometimes I wonder if I'm useful or useless. I wouldn't say either, though right now I am acting useless, sitting around like a picky elder. He paused his thoughts, then continued, Though I could be an elder. They even invited me to their den. Oh, how wondrous the world is. I bet I sound like an elder too.
He flicked his tail miserably. I wish I could go hunting. Chattering like fireflies, as if on cue, the hunting patrol tamped back into camp, carrying fresh prey that they dropped from the pile. He got up and limped over to the pile, grabbed a mouse, and hopped back to where he was sitting. He felt hot as he noticed that some cats were watching him.

looking very neat ^^ i'm just fond of a bit of coding ngl sorry for vanishing briefly; had to go do some things. Ghostpaw. MoltenClan Camp Glancing momentarily over his shoulder, the young tom's pace slowed before he shook his head and followed Emberpaw into the nursery, waving his tail in greeting and setting the rabbit down in front of Redwish. Then, he sat back on his haunches and looked around. This place...really didn't change, though he had always felt like he was intruding. Then again, it had always been like that for him. A constant outsider.
"Mouse die - die - died of fear," his voice remained as quiet as ever, ears half-flattening. What if she doesn't believe me? he wondered. He didn't want to be seen as a story-teller or a liar, but...well, he didn't want to keep a secret, either. His wide gaze flicked to the other apprentice for only a brief moment before it returned to the queen.

Mossthorn in camp to @borderline
Mossthorn finished a little after, drawing his tongue around his whiskers to gather up the last tastes of fishy goodness and taking time to reply, looking up at Hollystrike. He wasn't very big on eye contact when the conversation didn't matter, but he assumed the subject of the fox called for it.
``Maybe some cats are too afraid to assume it, but it looks like the fox thinks it's the dominant one on this territory after successfully killing so many cats, and wants us gone`` He laughed bitterly, an unpleasant and harsh sound, folding his front paws under himself and unsheathing his claws. It was strange to think that maybe foxes might work like clan-cats, and that this time around the roles were switched and cats needed to be driven out to make space and keep their cubs safe. "It's almost like they function like us, to move in they need to get rid of predators.`` He meowed, relaying his thoughts. ``I'd say the only way to get rid of it now is asserting our dominance by maiming it or, if it's a vixen, killing it's offspring.`` The tom's pupils constricted as his tail twitched against the ground, it was a fitting punishment for a creature that thought it could kill his kind for sport so nonchalantly.
``It's not like someone hasn't tried taking it down already.``

Emberpaw Nursery Replying to Zilong
She looked nervous as her mother's ear twitched uncomfortably, "It's true mother," She said when Redwish raised her eyebrow, "It's... pretty odd, huh?" She didn't want to mention what Ghostpaw had said about cats dying of fear. She was relieved when her mother nodded in agreement, "So it is." Redwish agreed. Though she thought she saw gentle teasing in her mother's eyes about her and Ghostpaw, she didn't make much of it. She was also glad when her mother dipped her head and started to dig into the mouse, "It tastes fine, and there's nothing wrong with it." Emberpaw grinned at her mother's words, then added, "I wish all prey died of fear."

Hollystrike. in the camp replying to @forgotmenot The fox thinks it's the dominant one. What a haunting sequence of words. For a moment, Hollystrike considered the other tom's words with his ears flattened to his head and his eyes narrowed. He turned his head to the side and swallowed. Would it hunt down our camp if it wanted us out? he wondered, suddenly finding himself lost in the idea that they were facing a far more serious problem. He shifted his weight uncomfortably, but he decided that it was best not to avoid the subject.
"It's a vixen," he said softly. "Sagestar mentioned something about the scents being different. Isn't killing a fox's offspring like...killing kits, though?"
Perhaps he had a soft heart, but Hollystrike didn't care. He didn't like the idea of killing the offspring of any animal; fully-grown were fair game, but killing cubs who knew no better? It felt like a heartless thing, when they were trying so hard to protect their own young. But it made sense, if the vixen had cubs - and it would make sense that she'd remain aggressive until her cubs were gone; whether it be through growing up or through death.
"Logically, we'd get Vixenpaw to talk to it," perhaps his muttering was a little bitter, but it was so brief that it was near-impossible to tell. "But the danger that's associated with the fox, I guess it would be reckless to get an apprentice anywhere near a bloodthirsty thing. Isn't there a way to deal with it other than harming its cubs?"

Ghostpaw. in the nursery It was a surprise for Redwish to agree so easily - was it a mother thing? He blinked owlishly and watched her for a moment, glad that the mouse tasted fine. Still...he wondered if it was common for mice to die of fear and that it went unsaid, or if it was just depending on the mouse. He considered it before he decided it was best to put it out of his mind; he wasn't going to find the answers to the universe, and he was content with that. Curiosity was a dangerous thing, and he was all too aware of that.
"Why...?" are you in the nursery?
He didn't think that the queen was expecting, but he wasn't entirely sure. Nonetheless, Ghostpaw couldn't quite find it in himself to say the full question, so he supposed that it could be mistaken for 'why do you want the prey to die of fear'. That was something he'd like to ask, too. He had many thoughts but...well, he couldn't quite communicate them.

Crowstrike to Anyone Crowstrike emerged from the Warrior's den, he hadn't stayed asleep this whole time. Rather, he wasn't quite ready to face his clanmates. He surveyed the camp, searching for Riverwillow, whom he hadn't seen this morning... Upon his surveillance, he judged that she must be out hunting, or in the elder's den. Crowstrike stretched out, sinking his claws into the ground beneath him. With a yawn, he decided that it would most likely be best to get something to eat from the fresh-kill pile. He padded over, examining his options, he chose a newt, a personal favorite of his. Goodmorning all! This is still a post I have up for crowstrike, also i have Riverwillow and Briarsong open 😊 ))

Redwish tilted her head, why? Did this apprentice have bees in his brain? She sighed, "So we wouldn't have to chase our tails around trying to catch them." She flicked her tail, "I guess you apprentices like that, now run along you two."

Mossthorn in camp to @borderline
He scoffed quietly, eyeing Hollystrike. "What are you? That's way too soft, if the entire clan had that mentality we'd be dead by now." Mossthon replied flatly, swishing his tail and shifting as he narrowed his eyes again. "The fact that you'd compare it to killing kits is mouse-brained, you sound like an apprentice."
"It doesn't matter how you look at it now, in a few moons those cubs will grow up and we won't only have one hungry adult fox to deal with, but a whole skulk, that's who knows how many predators running around our territory capable of killing us. Not to mention how much prey they'll be eating, and what happens when the vixens of that litter have their own offspring." The tom lectured through his teeth, flattening his ears and flexing the claws hidden under his chest fur. If they were already finding it difficult to drive out the one that was already here, it would be just impossible to run out the family or kill it. If they didn't deal with them properly, countless more cats would face unnecessary deaths and maims- it was a very serious issue that nobody should be willfully ignorant of. Doing things you don't want to do are are just necessary to survive as a clan cat in the wild.
``Logically, we'd get Vixenpaw to talk to it,`` Hollystrike muttered. ```But the danger that's associated with the fox, I guess it would be reckless to get an apprentice anywhere near a bloodthirsty thing. Isn't there a way to deal with it other than harming its cubs?`` With a painful sigh, Mossthorn turned his gaze back to watching his clan-mates go about their duties. "I don't think the fox would be docile enough to listen to an apprentice, but maybe if there was a way to kitnap the cubs, take them off territory and destroy the den while the vixen was out looking for them, we could scare her off. Of course that's just unrealistic."
