Bluerabbit. returning to camp Though he was unsure what he had said wrong, the delicate tom accepted that he had upset Softfeather. He watched the she-cat go with half-pinned ears, glancing around before he stood up and shook his head. Perhaps he'd said the wrong thing; he knew that he could be more than a little insensitive when it came to talking with other cats. It seemed that, no matter how hard he tried, he managed to say just the wrong thing. Others were often offended when he seemed unmoved by their words, or when he didn't react in the way he wanted them to. Before, it had been easy enough to remedy; Whitefox would charge in and quickly explain the situation, apologising for his brother's bluntness. Now, it seemed, he had to deal with that on his own.
A low sigh passed his lips and he stood up with his leaf-pouch in his mouth, gait quick as he began to progress back towards camp. Though he glanced a rabbit on the way back, his jaws were already full and so he decided that it was best to leave it, for now. The hunting patrol had been cut short, and he had had no say in it. Frustrating. Did they even have enough prey for a patrol? He doubted it; he'd find someone else to go with him so that they could gather more, as it seemed the do of apprentices they'd brought along had also proceeded to pull a vanishing trick.
Bluerabbit entered the camp feeling rather frustrated, hopping over to the fresh-kill pile and opening the leaf. The dead jay and her eggs sat on the pile and, after a moment, he picked up one of the eggs to settle down with. It was at this point that the warrior spotted a certain apprentice from the corner of his eye; wasn't that Mallowpaw? He racked his mind to figure out who was the tom's mentor before it hit him - ah, Ashstar, I think. That seemed unfortunate. Before, it had been Ashdapple, the Deputy who had duties but could definitely spare time for his apprentice. Now, it was Ashstar who was trying to put the Clan back onto its four paws after a sudden, brutal loss. Sagestar's death had affected many in ways he had not realised before. Now I feel selfish, he thought, fur bristling. Nonetheless, he approached Mallowpaw - albeit slowly - egg in his jaws and thus unable to speak until he set it down, lifting a paw to carefully keep it in place.
"Hello," he greeted slowly, unsure of how his appearance would be greeted. What if he doesn't want to talk to me? was an anxious thought; even he, himself, often forgot how sensitive he could be. Honestly, he wished he could apologise to Softfeather - though he didn't know what he'd done wrong, he knew that he had done something wrong. He hadn't wanted the advice, but...he supposed she'd opened up, and so it had been unfair of him to dismiss that so easily. "I saw Ashstar go out on a border patrol, but uh," for a moment, the tom hesitated. Was it wrong to...? Ah, whatever. Training can be shared among all warriors, as long as I don't give bad information, right? He hoped that was the case. "If you'd like, I can take you to the Training Hollow and you can practice what you've learned on me?"
It seemed to be a safe approach. He'd find out what the young tom was learning, and he'd probably be able to pick up where Ashstar had last left off. That was the hope, at least; that he wouldn't manage to upset the leader as well as another warrior.
Perhaps he was being a little too self-pitying. That wasn't like him, but it was a breakthrough in the strange distance he'd felt, it was nicer than being lost in his own head every passing day. After a couple of moments, the tom sat down and absently pushed the egg between his paws. Playing with his food wasn't something that he often did, but he felt impolite if he started eating while he was talking to someone.
From the corner of his eye, he saw his sister moving around. She seemed to be as lost as he was, though her loss seemed to be in her...tail. Yes, it seemed that the she-cat was chasing her tail, turning in circles while it escaped her. His whiskers twitched and he watched this for a few moments, lost in the sheer stupidity of the movements. As if she sensed him watching, her head lifted and she blinked at him, waving her tail in greeting. Bluerabbit wondered if she'd forgotten about her tail; but no, almost immediately after she'd greeted him, she went back to her shenanigans.
"If anything, we'll stop you from succumbing to that." his tone, though dry, seemed to veil amusement.

amberstone.
response for... dawn
Just bored, eh? He wondered. If he was a two-leg, he was certain he would’ve quirked an eyebrow at Dogpaw’s desperate excuse. His fur was standing, which most likely meant that he was lying. He'd become familiar with some of the gestures and habits of his apprentice, and he was certain that Dogpaw had become accustomed to those of his own, as well. It was the result of spending an adequate amount of time together, as apprentice and mentor. Still masking his amusement behind his stoicism, he flicked his tail and glanced over at the camp’s entrance.
“If you’re just bored, maybe I’ll double the amount of your training,” he said with composure, although, those who knew him well enough would understand that his words had originated from a light heart - in other words, it was the reticent tom’s attempt at a bad joke. Hey, he was trying.
“Can we go, um, hunting… maybe?”
With a brief nod of his head, the lean-muscled tom firmly maneuvered his way through the camp. “Let's hurry,” he said as he flicked his tail. When he turned his head around so that he could see his apprentice, there was a subtle twinkle of affection within his amber gaze, contrary to his stern, modulated voice. An air of reassurance encircled him as well, as if he was gently telling Dogpaw: your secret's safe with me.

Mossthorn to @borderline
As he approached, Mossthorn frowned deeper but didn't bother getting up again, even with the innocent smile plastered on that tom's face he'd probably just follow after him, and no one his size could outrun a cat that much taller. Narrowing his eyes at Hollystrike and the fish, he glanced around him skeptically like he might be directing the words at someone behind him, and bit the inside of his cheek cautiously.
"Fine, sure." He finally responded, huffing through his nose. "But don't think I'm getting "friendly" with you because we shared a fish.." With many uncomfortable blinks and twitching whiskers he snagged a claw down the fish's belly, drawing off some scales as he tried to mark which side was his and which was Hollystrike's, but failing to make the portions even.

Hollystrike. in the camp replying to @forgotmenot Pleased that someone wanted to share with him, Hollystrike let himself settled comfortably and watched as Mossthorn marked the portions. Upon realising that they weren't even, he took a moment to assess which was bigger and which was smaller. Right, he thought, whiskers twitching. He put his paw on the smaller half of the fish and took a bite, tail waving back and forth in a content manner. He chewed as he assessed the other warrior, and once he swallowed, he licked his lips and blinked owlishly.
"Sharing food is a way to extend the supplies of the fresh-kill pile, it doesn't have to be friendly," he laughed softly, tilting his head to the side. He didn't really understand why Mossthorn didn't want to be friendly, but he decided not to worry too much about it. "Let me talk, at least. I'm good at that. How's your day been? Mine was pretty uneventful, I've been fishing since before sunrise."

Dogpaw To: ᵏᵉˢᵗʳᵉˡ Dogpaw flattened himself to the ground, slinking after his mentor as they headed out to hunt. He cast one last glance at Ghostpaw, who looked less than thrilled to be leaving camp to hunt with Emberpaw. Dogpaw had always gotten the impression that Ghostpaw was shy and didn't really like the company of others. Dogpaw liked that about him. Most cats were friendly and always in each other's fur, but Ghostpaw liked to lay low it seemed. Dogpaw was pretty friendly, but he normally had a difficult time making friends because he didn't like to approach other cats. If someone came up and started a conversation, he was all for it. It was actually going up to a cat and initiating conversation that scared him. He looked at his mentor, feeling the waves of affection coming from him. He admired Amberstone. He had always been kind to the cream-colored apprentice. He was glad he had gotten a nice mentor. He knew some mentors were incredibly strict, and he didn't know how well he'd handle a super strict mentor.
Scarletnight To: @borderline Scarletnight nodded her head, realizing how silly she was being about the vole. Maybe it was just stressed out by all the smells and the surroundings. "Yes, I'm sure you're right." She finished eating her share of the mouse and pushed the rest to Maplesnow. She sighed, trying to think of something interesting to say. She was terrible at small-talk, mostly because she never did it on account of the fact that she wasn't very friendly, and it wasn't like she was going to dive into a deep discussion with the other she-cat. She watched the volcano closely, loving how pretty it looked from a distance. She remembered her second, and last, trial, and how she'd barely made it back in time. She was happy she had made it back just in the nick of time, or she'd probably still be an apprentice now. She ducked her head. What an embarrassing thought. "Do you think you'll be made a full warrior soon?" She asked Maplesnow.

Maplesnow. settled in the camp She hoped she was right; but she didn't know everything about the territory as much as she wished she did, and, as such, she could only hope that her assumptions were correct and that she wasn't ignoring an important sign. It's fine, she thought, gaze absently flicking to the Medicine Cat Den, those two will get a sign from StarClan if something goes wrong, right?
They didn't get a sign for your mother, said a traitorous little voice at the back of her head. Her fur bristled briefly but it was unnoticeable, and so brief that it didn't really matter. When the rest of the mouse was pushed to her, she ate it without hesitation. It was a little better to have a full stomach, and she began to groom herself as was natural, licking her paw and then drawing it over her ear. Her tail curled next to her, tail-tip twitching from time to time. Maplesnow glanced to her friend and her whiskers twitched slightly.
"I should be," she said, though it was to assure her own confidence rather than to seem up herself. Her words, she supposed, were not quite there. "Ah, I doubt it? Maybe in a few moons," she exhaled softly and sat up a little straighter, "In the end, I guess I managed to cause myself trouble by taking the Trial later. It is what it is, I suppose."
Frustrating, as she'd heard of cats graduating at twelve moons, but she could take it, she supposed. The rest of her life was ahead of her; there was no point in being bitter about something that was her own fault. It wasn't like she was missing out on her warrior name or anything - just the idea of being a fully fledged warrior, one eligible for an apprentice.
"How's the prey running?" she asked, turning her head to look at Scarletnight, "aside from, well. Skinny."

Scarletnight To: @borderline "Prey's running pretty well, I'd say. I saw Emberpaw come back with a couple mice, and Bluerabbit caught a bird and her eggs." Scarletnight shrugged, her eyes meeting Maplesnow's eyes for a brief second before she looked away. "It's running better than you'd think with that vicious fox on the loose." Scarletnight longed to rip her claws through that evil fox and her cubs too, if she had any. She felt no guilt for thinking this. Anything that put her clan in danger made her seethe with rage. Especially since the fox had murdered her father. All she wanted was to let her anger out on something. At this point, it didn't even matter what. She tore up the ground underneath her, forgetting about Maplesnow being right next to her.

Mossthorn to @borderline
He shifted and sunk down a little more onto his belly, feeling the ashy ground through his fur, something barely warming it from far far below, as Hollystrike settled next to him. Mossthorn avoided looking directly at him, but watched from the corner of his eye warily as he chose his smaller portion of the fish. His nose twitched and he gave him a quizzical look as the tom took a bite of kill contently.
"Sharing food is a way to extend the supplies of the fresh-kill, it doesn't have to be friendly." Hollystrike said and laughed, looking analyzing and swishing his tail. "Let me talk, at least. I'm good at that. How's your day been?-" Oh Starclan, small-talk. "-Mine was pretty uneventful, I've been fishing since before sunrise." Grumbling something under his breath he let out a dragged sigh.
"Sounds like an average day. I got up just before sunrise and went solo-hunting for most and just kept my eyes out for anything." Mossthorn meowed quietly, eyes watching the cats across camp doing their duties. "With that fox prowling around, it's good to be wary that nothing is grabbing our tails when we're not looking."

[ thank you dawn ^^ that's fine; real life is more important than roleplays thank you silk ;_; ] Maplesnow. sitting in the camp "Her eggs..." the young warrior repeated doubtfully, turning her head to look at the fresh-kill pile. It took her a couple of moments to notice the small eggs, and she squinted thoughtfully. "I haven't seen anyone but him eat them. Do others eat them?" she hoped her question wasn't a stupid one as she returned her sharp gaze back to Scarletnight. Perhaps she just didn't pay enough attention to her clanmates; that was a probability that she didn't particularly want to think about. "I suppose that fox is more interested in hunting cats than it is in hunting prey. I wonder why?"
It seemed to have claimed many a cat's lives; she'd seen a few rogue and loner bodies here and there, and along with the cats from MoltenClan...well. It just seemed to have a taste for cat, which was rather uncommon. Maplesnow took note of her fellow warrior tearing up the ground, but decided not to mention it. Sometimes, it was better to stay quiet. Hollystrike. sharing prey in camp replying to @forgotmenot Consider the smaller size of his portion, Hollystrike finished his meal quickly and, once done, he tucked his legs underneath his body and watched the camp so as to avoid staring at the other warrior. His ears twitched at every little sound, eyes narrowing as the sun continued to rise in the sky. It was at a point, now, where he didn't particularly want to look at it; the early New Leaf sun was certainly a force to be reckoned with, and he hoped that it would find the days in which it would sit higher once again.
"It's a little worrisome that we haven't been able to chase it out," he mused. "By now, surely being attacked by multiple cats would scare it off, no? But it seems to just continue its rampage, as if the only thing it cares about is us."
Worrying? Yes. There were already dangerous animals surrounding them, and foxes tended to ignore them unless hungry. The bodies of the cats had been recovered and had not even been bitten beyond their initial battle wounds, which suggested that it was killing for sport. Hollystrike didn't like that idea in the slightest, tried to stray away from it.
"I suppose all we can do for now is try our best to avoid it," he rolled his shoulders in an attempt at a shrug, though it felt short as he was laying down. "We'll see how it goes. It can't keep at this for much longer, right?"

mallowpaw. Just as his thoughts meandered away from the dynamic duo, a voice withdrew him from his prolonged reverie. He glanced up, only to spot none other than Bluerabbit setting down an egg which had been gently perched between his lips. "Hello," he said, returning the uncertain greeting with that of his own. When his shy, yellow orbs met those of the delicate warrior's, he lowered them a little, slowly but surely inspecting the texture of the soft, forest floor. Dirt suddenly became incredibly intriguing.
It wasn't a bad gesture, though he was certain it could give off an indifferent impression for others if misunderstood. When it came to most situations, unless he was involved in a heartfelt event, he avoided eye-contact as much as possible. He wasn't certain how extroverted creatures like Quailfeather managed to unwaveringly converse with others so easily while matching their gaze with that of his own. While he personally and genuinely didn't dislike doing so, his eyes grew weary easily when he spoke with someone for an extensive period of time.
"I saw Ashstar go out on a border patrol, but uh-"
Though his view didn't trail away from the unruly grass beneath his paws, he was listening attentively to the blue-grey warrior next to his flank - until the mention of Ashstar put a halt to the gears in his head. It felt like several moons had passed since he'd last seen his mentor, and during the long gap, he had often allowed his thoughts to drift back to the days when things had been somewhat tranquil. Not only did he still remember sheer bewilderment shooting through his veins when he'd been first chosen as the deputy's apprentice, but also the nerve-wracking yet surprisingly pleasant fizzle bubbling within his chest.
He still remembered what it was like to feel a touch of warm pride whenever Ashdapple had spared time for him, even when he'd been simultaneously tethered to so many duties. Now, sometimes, just sometimes, there was a very small part of him that envied his past self; it only allowed him to appreciate the time back then even more than he already had and did. And in present time, although there was a distance he lacked the courage to mend, he respected Ashstar just the same. He wanted to do the best he could to aid his mentor in any way possible from the devastating loss.
However, unfortunately, he was no warrior. He didn't possess their raw strength, and he lacked their experience. He was no medicine cat, either, who bravely alleviated the clan's injuries. There was little he could do but to give Ashstar the space he needed and to wait, patiently, for the day when the clan was back on its paws. Until then, he would stoically continue to schedule his own training and hunting sessions, whenever it was necessary. There was a limit to how much he grew when he practiced alone and occasionally picked up a thing or two from others, but it was better than doing nothing.
"If you'd like, I can take you to the Training Hollow and you can practice what you've learned on me?"
"You'd do that for me?" He asked, subtly caught off guard by Bluerabbit's suggestion. A look of appreciation soon settled within his gentle, yellow orbs as he nodded his head. "Only if you're all right with it." He then followed the older tom's gaze over to Poppytail, who was unmistakably chasing after her.... tail? Bemused, he watched her for a heartbeat longer before he lost to the small, fleeting twinkle in his eyes.
"If anything, we'll stop you from succumbing to that."
It'd been a long time since Mallowpaw had last smiled, and he couldn't deny that it felt nice. "Sounds like a good plan."

Crowstrike to Anyone Crowstrike emerged from the Warrior's den, he hadn't stayed asleep this whole time. Rather, he wasn't quite ready to face his clanmates. He surveyed the camp, searching for Riverwillow, whom he hadn't seen this morning... Upon his surveillance, he judged that she must be out hunting, or in the elder's den. Crowstrike stretched out, sinking his claws into the ground beneath him. With a yawn, he decided that it would most likely be best to get something to eat from the fresh-kill pile. He padded over, examining his options, he chose a newt, a personal favorite of his.
