Ashstar replying to Shadowstep (and Wolfshadow).
When compared to the senior warrior duo, Ashstar often felt very small. Leaders before him had been older and wiser, and here he was, a leader after barely any deputyship; he wondered, sometimes, if he was the wrong sort of leader. But he knew, somewhere in him, that the deputy he chose would influence how MoltenClan would run under his leadership - and so he felt like talking to these two was the best course of action. Getting help from the senior warriors in general seemed like a good idea, to get their knowledge and to learn more about how the cats in this Clan wanted their leader to be like. He could not promise to fulfil every little detail, but he thought that perhaps he could be a more agreeable cat.
He opened his mouth to speak - and found a quiet, huffing laugh escaping him, instead. Wolfshadow, I could not be more grateful for you, he thought, whiskers twitching with amusement.
The two interacting made him feel like an intruder, like he was not quite meant to be here. He twitched an ear and glanced away, trying to give them some sort of privacy. Ashstar was pleased, at least, at the sound of Shadowstep accepting the patrol was a relief. Not only did he not have to try to be in two places at once, but he knew that he could lead his own patrol without too much concern.
Ashstar dipped his head as Wolfshadow parted ways with them, and realised that he was now alone with the cat he'd wanted to talk to. Perhaps further matters could be discussed, now. While he enjoyed Wolfshadow's company and was warmed that the two of them were so close, some matters needed privacy to be discussed. The slender tom shifted his weight as he settled more comfortably into his sitting position, tail curling neatly over his paws. He did not feel at ease, but he could be eased if he knew whether he was going to be rejected or accepted.
"Yes, actually," his ears perked forward and he narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "Know beforehand that you don't need to feel pressured to accept; I have other potentials, but you're my first choice. Would you accept the deputy position if it were given to you?"
He knew, from how he'd been appointed, that it was wiser to talk to the candidate (or candidates) beforehand to see how they'd react to it. He'd heard of cats rejecting the positioning in front of the clan; it sounded amusing in theory, but horribly embarrassing in reality. At least, if there were no other cats to overhear, being rejected wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Ghostpaw (and Poppytail) replying to Ravenpaw.
He had to admit, he appreciated that Ravenpaw didn't try to push too much. That said, Ghostpaw didn't really feel like continuing a conversation, and so he maintained the silence as they returned to the camp.
It felt like an eternity before he could scent the camp, and he found that walking backwards through the entrance with a fawn was not, in fact, the easiest feat. He wondered what it was like for warriors who could hunt fully-grown deer, wondered how they got it back into the camp. That's a question for another cat for another day, he thought, glancing up at Ravenpaw. Once they were in the camp, he let go and huffed, sitting down heavily. Everything ached, now; his ribs, especially. He hoped it wasn't anything serious - but then again, if it was serious enough, maybe he'd get pity instead of being told off.
"Th-th-thank you for hun-hunting w-with me," he said softly.
"So, that's where you went," the voice caused him to start, and he whipped around to see a certain tortoiseshell approaching them with her tail held high and something like a grin on her face. "Hello, kittens. That's an impressive catch you've got there. You want to share the adventure you just had?"
Poppytail's eyes held a mischievous glint, and she crouched down to grab the back of the neck of the deer. Her muscles tensed and she pulled, and, with what Ghostpaw saw as impressive strength but was probably normal, she began to help in getting the fawn to the fresh-kill pile.
Ghostpaw, himself, glanced at Ravenpaw with wide eyes. I hope he can explain, I'm too scared to, he thought, ears half-pinning. Though there was no annoyance nor anger in the she-cat's tone or posture, he felt like a reprimanding was coming, even if it wasn't from this warrior in particular. Just from the few cats he could see within the camp at present, he could pick out a few who would kill for the chance to reprimand a couple of rebellious apprentices. At least it's just Poppytail, he thought, ducking his head a little and watching the other apprentice from the corner of his eye, if she tells us off then we're going to get off lightly.
Bluerabbit replying to Fallenshadow.
Sharp hearing picked up the sound of his sister's voice with an apprentice's, and he wondered who she was corrupting now. He turned his head to squint at the entrance, but considering the bushes that kept the entrance safe, he couldn't see anything. One foot thumped absently against the ground before he scratched at his side to get rid of an itch, other hind leg tapping in a similar rhythm.
He remembered being a kit and when he'd first started to walk - though that was a loose word. Walk. It had been more like dragging; his hind legs had worked, but he had not been sure on how to use them. At the time, he hadn't had the strength to hop nor to do anything else, and so, for a while, the Medicine Cat at the time had thought that perhaps his hind legs were useless. Time had proven that no, they seemed to hold some odd requirement to move at a similar pace and at the same time, like they were connected in some weird way.
Bluerabbit didn't entirely mind anymore. His hind legs were powerful and his rabbit-like hops meant that rabbits did not flee from the sound of him, and there were certainly some advantages to them. Running felt easier; long bounds and leaps rather than quick-paced galloping, and a powerful back-kick if he ever needed it.
While, at one point as an apprentice, he'd been shunned for it - it was the teasing of apprentices and kits and the mild pity from warriors. MoltenClan was more accepting than he could have ever known, and he enjoyed it, truly. There was a sort of acceptance that made the loners and rogues more pleasant if they were in the territory; he found that they were less prone to attacking clan cats because, well. They knew they would not be attacked if they moved in peace.
"Alright," again, his voice was soft.
He stood up and hopped to the entrance, pushing past the bushes and shaking himself free of the few loose leaves once he was through. Patiently, the tom sat next to the nursery entrance and perked his ears up. There she is, he thought, spotting the distinctive markings of Poppytail. It seemed that she was with Ravenpaw and Ghostpaw, with a deer? He tilted his head and watched for a moment, recognised that it was very small and thus was probably a newborn fawn. Still impressive, he thought, before refocusing his attention on the queen he'd volunteered to spend some time with.
"Do you have any naming plans for your kits?" he asked softly, his tone a quiet one.

Fallenshadow picked herself up, a smile slipping onto her mouth. She was happy to be able to go out again. She wondered why she hadn't gone before, she could have easily left and gone into the woods eariler. I don't know why I didn't go...I was probably either sleeping or feeling annoyed about something as I always am doing. She always found something to get annoyed at.
Fallenshadow followed behind Bluerabbit, pushing the leaves out of her face with one paw. Immediately, it was like she was in a new world, she could smell the trees and leaves and the musky smell of the ground. All the forest scents came flooding into her nose, making her feel peaceful and at home again. She could smell the same scents at the camp, but somehow it was so much better here.
"Do you have any naming plans for your kits?"
Fallenshadow looked down, realizing she hadn't really thought about it before. She probably should have before, but she thought she might think of the names after the birth. She thought she might name them by the patterns of their coats or eye color, or personality. "No, I actually hadn't really thought about names before." Admited Fallenshadow, feeling slightly embarrassed, "I wanted to think of the names after the birth, maybe basing them on coat color or something like that." She turned to look at Bluerabbit, "I probably should have thought about it before."

ravenpaw replying to ghostpaw camp Ravenpaw didn't realize how much pain he felt from dragging this deer until they had stopped. He was glad to finally let go and take a break. The black tom felt sore and tired but didn't say much about it, guessing that Ghostpaw felt the same. Despite all his aching, he felt really, really good. Joy sent his heart aflutter and pride swelled his chest. He was very happy about bringing the fawn back to camp and his large smile proved it even further.
"No problem! Like I said, we should do this again! It was fun," Ravenpaw exclaimed, a very obvious joy saturating his voice. That seemed to quickly fade when he saw Poppytail, a warrior, approach them. He felt a bit of fear after hearing what Ghostpaw said earlier, but he began doubting if Poppytail, of all cats, could really punish them heavily. She wasn't exactly a stern and unforgiving cat. When he saw the she-cat carry the deer by the neck so easily, he mouthed a wow at Ghostpaw, admiring her strength. He laughed a little and spoke, "Hey Ghostpaw, I bet we looked really weak trying to bring that deer back to camp."
Ravenpaw cleared his throat and began explaining what they had been doing out of camp. He confessed, "Well, I invited Ghostpaw to go out with me to go exploring. It was really fun and Ghostpaw caught a bird out of the air! It was really really cool. I caught a mouse that we almost didn't see. Oh and of course, we saw an injured deer and we went after it. We felt really bad for it, so I think killing it was a good thing. Plus, more food for Moltenclan! I think we provided a lot for the clan today, don't you?" The apprentice had noticed how scared Ghostpaw looked, so naturally he took the blame for the idea of the adventure. He was a cat who could take punishments and harsh words easier than Ghostpaw could, even if they were annoying and harmful at times. Ravenpaw was also trying to push forward the fact that they had brought back a plentiful amount of prey in an attempt to lessen the severity of their potential punishment. His voice seemed to lack any uncomfort, even though he was annoyed with the idea of getting chastised.

Riverwillow grinned at the older she-cat, "You may feel like an apprentice, but you sure don't hunt like one!" she laughed. Riverwillow lifted her nose to the air and opened her mouth ever so slightly, attempting to catch any bit of scent from prey...She finally caught on the the scent of what she believed to be a bird, she followed the scent trail long enough to finally see it. The small bird was pecking at the ground and seemed almost oblivious to her presence. The she-cat lowered herself to the ground, unsheathing her claws. She watched her prey for a moment, attempting to see any changes in it's behaviour. When she realized the bird was unaware of her presence, she pounced, killing it.

Wrenstorm smiled, feeling some pride bubble in her chest. She licked her chops, running her paw over her mouth and whiskers to clean some of the blood from her fur before it dried to the point of crusting. "Well thank you, I think." she smiled at Riverwillow, watching as she hunted. She was proud of her and how far she had come. She felt her joints become a little stiffer from the activity but she tried not to show it. She wanted to keep hunting and continue to spend time with Riverwillow. She didn't get out enough anymore and the elder didn't want her old age to hold her back from being useful to the clan. She sighed softly because letting out a little purr. "Good catch, Riverwillow." she praised the younger warrior, feeling another bubble of pride rise within her.

ripple, that's your own fault? you never responded to cinderpaw.
lotus (corrected from before oops), feral cats can live for a while longer than that ^^ a healthy feral can generally live up to 8-10 years, it's the predators and sicknesses that make it seem like a shorter time. there have even been some who live up to 15 years! but not all cats have the same life expectancy, so imo it's fine to dub some cats old by the time they hit 6/7 yrs old so it's nbd

Too tired to look further into it so it's my bad lol)) Here it is found it lol: Applepaw scented prey nearby and followed it. Past several bushes and trees, she saw a Raven pecking at the ground as it tried to get a worm. Crouching down and eyes narrowed, she stalked closer and closer, her body ready to pounce St any moment. She paused just as she saw the bird grab the worm and start to tug on it, completely unaware of her. Just as the bird began to eat the worm, applepaw leaped, landing on the back of the bird, who gave out a caw of fear. Fox dung, she bit down on the neck, killing it. She grabbed the bird and walked back to where her mouse was, waiting for Lotuswave. A feather stuck to her nose and she shook her head, trying to remove it. As it fell it caught the wind and she batted at it as it danced in the air.

Lotuswaves smiled. It was a little rough, but she was doing good. The warrior smiled at her apprentice, if she had a longer tail she would have flicked Applepaw's ear affectionately. "That was just a little rough, but it happens to every one." she batted the feather towards the younger cat. "We can take this prey back to camp, and tomorrow we can either hunt some more or do some battle practice. I will leave it up to you." She wanted her apprentice to feel like her opinions mattered and that she could be independent. Of course, she'd get the training every other apprentice got to be well rounded. But it was fine to give the younger cat choices some days.

“Thanks!” The She-Cat beamed, she was proud of herself and absolutely ecstatic that Wrenstorm seemed proud of her. Riverwillow worried the elderly she-cat needed to go back to camp soon, she wasn’t ready to return back to camp and have to share Wrenstorm with the others. Riverwillow also didn’t want to go back to camp in fear of loneliness... Crowstrike was consistently busy, and the She-Cat had no friends, or suitors, or even an apprentice... though she realized she was still a bit young to have an apprentice. “Wrenstorm, when did you get your first apprentice?” She asked, despite the question coming out of nowhere, she felt it was appropriate.

Wrenstorm tilted her head, thinking back to her younger days. Her first apprentice. Ah, Hawkpaw. A feisty young one. The older warrior let out a heavy sigh. She felt it was unfair she outlived him, and the guilt always ate her. She survived a lot of cats, she didn't know why. "Well, My first apprentice was Hawkpaw. He was... Killed by a fox, sadly. But he still lived a good life and I did my best to teach him everything I knew. I try not to blame myself." she shook her head, her ears wiggling. "No matter, I was probably 19 moons. Why do you ask?" she glanced at the younger warrior, tilting her head in curiosity.

“Oh..” Riverwillow sighed, “I was hoping to get an apprentice by now..” She was attempting not to show her disappointment... there weren’t THAT many apprentices at the moment, so she figured that must be why. Though the evil bit of anxiety in the back of her head screamed that it was because she was always going to be seen as an outsider.

The elder flicked the other she-cat's ear affectionately. "You will be a great mentor, I'm sure of it. I will admit, I'm excited to see what kind of mentor you would be."

Bluerabbit replying to Fallenshadow.
As the heat of the day continued on, the forest began to burst with life. Quiet mice ran through the long grass with grains and nuts in their mouths, birds flew overhead with prey in their beaks, ready to feed their young. While it appeared peaceful on the outside, Bluerabbit could see the life and he enjoyed it greatly. He wanted the fox danger to pass so that he could go out alone again; but he supposed staying close to camp was good enough if he was helping a queen get some fresh air, too.
He wasn't too surprised that Fallenshadow hadn't thought of names for her kits, and he nodded quietly.
"Nah," he tilted his head. "Some queens don't think of names beforehand, I guess because you don't know what they'll look like. My brother and I were just based from pelt-colours, my sister was named after a flower and so were her littermates. It depends on the kitten's appearance, I guess."
Bluerabbit didn't mind it; it seemed to be a common theme. Either name it after its pelt or name it after something nice, since no-one knew what the kit would act like.
"What did the father look like? It might give you an idea for what they looked like," he hopped onto a large fallen log, balancing a little shakily. Due to his bobbed tail, he often found issues in finding his balance. That was why he found it easier to stay on the move in trees; he just had to get his footing quickly. "If that's too intrusive, you can ignore the question, actually."
Ghostpaw and Poppytail replying to Ravenpaw.
Of all the warriors to discover them, Poppytail certainly wasn't the worst. With her mismatched appearance and a mischievous look in her odd eyes, she did not at all remind him of her younger brother. If he thought about it, she was perhaps more similar to Whitefox; but even that was a stretch. The family, it seemed, were all very different cats. The tortoiseshell was a bright sun - perhaps the name Poppysun or Suntail would've suited her better. He wasn't sure. Names were interesting to him though, he had to admit.
"Y-y-yeah," he whispered, glancing to his new friends from the corner of his eye.
Now that the fawn was settled next to the rest of MoltenClan's prey, he could certainly get an idea of how amazing a fully-grown deer would look. The fawn wasn't impressive compared to the herd of fully-grown deer he'd seen before in passing, but it would probably do well for the clan.
"I see," the she-cat's whiskers twitched and she looked at the doe, the bird, and the mouse. While drastically different in every way, they were all very good prey choices, and she nodded. "I think we can keep this between us. If anyone asks, I took you out - alright?" her wink was a secretive one, and Ghostpaw found himself amused at her actions. Though a senior warrior in every way physically possible, she acted like she was still a new warrior; full of hope and possibilities. "Since you two worked so hard, I think you deserve some of the fawn, don't you?"
He didn't miss how her voice rose a little; he saw, from the corner of his eye, someone perking their head. Was she trying to spread the rumour of them catching a deer? I didn't know warriors liked to gossip.
Poppytail's tail swayed back and forth and she reached a paw out to cuff both Ravenpaw and Ghostpaw over the head. She then lowered her own head and shook her head.
"Your catches are impressive, but ask a warrior to go with you next time, okay? Even if you did well, you could have been very hurt. If you do this again, I will tell someone."
"Y-y-yes, Poppyt-t-tai-tail," Ghostpaw squeaked, lowered himself so that he could all but hide next to Ravenpaw. He felt very small, even if he was a rather tall cat. He was larger than some his age; but only due to the length of his legs and his body. If he crouched, he was as small as an older kit, and he knew it. Perhaps he thought it would make him invisible.
( yep! it's neferpitou, from the chimera ant arc. pitou is my fav character aside from alluka lul. it's the best chimera imo )
