Stormstrike nodded. He was rarely interested in what other cats were doing and he wasn't exactly interested in what Cherrywhisper had done either. He just felt the need to make conversation with the she-cat. Due to his unwillingness to converse with others, Stormstrike was painfully awkward when it came to simple conversation. He was more confident when it came to giving orders or teaching others, just like he did with Sedgepaw. However, that was a question he'd heard plenty of cats ask others as he made his rounds through camp, so he thought it'd be a good way to start conversation with her. Stormstrike wasn't shy and he held himself with confidence and almost arrogance. He just wasn't good at small talk.
He just nodded at her reply. "I'm not much of a fisher either," he said. Stormstrike's strength actually wasn't hunting at all. He hunted well enough to feed the clan and secure his spot as deputy, but he didn't enjoy it and he wasn't the best. He was a muscular tom, built for brute strength and fighting. He couldn't chase a squirrel up a tree an hope to kill it. Fishing was difficult for him as well, as much to slimy for him to actually enjoy. He still found himself nodding after a little too long of a pause. "Well, ah, congratulations on catching a fish," he said. He much preferred hunting, and eating, land animals.

CHERRYWHISPER | The Fountain | Stormstrike
Stormstrike's reaction was as she had expected: he wasn't particularly interested in what she had said, but he was too polite to say as much. Considering that she hadn't thought it all that interesting herself, she couldn't exactly blame him and she wasn't disappointed by the response. A small smile happened upon her face, her whiskers twitching in amusement at what could otherwise be deemed an awkward pause in conversation; he might even be worse at small talk than she was. For some reason, the thought made her more confident - for once she wasn't the more socially awkward of the two in the conversation.
To be fair, she had never been all that bad at making conversation with others. In fact, a lot of cats seemed to enjoy her quiet, yet kind attitude, and while she tried to avoid interactions with others throughout the day, if someone approached her she wouldn't turn them away. Some cats tended to take advantage of this, unloading many of their problems on her and ranting to her about their little annoyances, and while she always thought many of the cats' problems seemed quite trivial, she listened to them all with equal deliberation and helped them out the best she could. It could be mentally exhausting, yes, but she felt too bad trying to turn them away.
"Thanks," she said with a small, light laugh, not minding his awkwardness, "And how about you? Surely the deputy must be up to some exciting things."

Stormstrike shrugged at her question. "Surprisingly, being the deputy isn't as interesting as one would imagine." He still loved it. Stormstrike did enjoy his position in the clan. He did his best and would always appreciate Jackdawstar for giving him the position. It made him feel important. He shrugged. "I mean, today I sent out a few patrols and went hunting with Amberpaw, Sedgepaw, and Rabbitspring. We brought back some prey but nothing out of the ordinary occurred."
Sometimes he did want a little more excitement in his life. Other times, he didn't. Excitement would only bring trouble and he did his best to make sure all of his warriors would peacefully die of old age in the warriors den. He knew that wasn't practical and was impossible. He'd already lost a few warriors during his time as deputy but he did his best to minimize the deaths.
"So, got any plans for later?" he asked curiously. As far as he knew, she wasn't assigned to go hunting or on patrol at all today so he was curious on if she had anything she wanted to do. "I mean, I may go hunting if I can get a few cats to come along but I didn't have anything interesting planned for the rest of the day."
(Sorry it's kinda short. And late. I thought I had responded already)

[ That's okay! ]
CHERRYWHISPER | The Fountain | Stormstrike Cherrywhisper wasn't all that surprised at his answer. She was sure the responsibilities of being deputy took a lot of time, and probably also meant that the activities you would get up to would be more practical rather than exciting. She admired how well he held the position, however; Jackdawstar had made a good choice. She knew that she definitely wouldn't be able to handle the pressure, and she didn't understand how he remained so calm and composed all the time. She supposed some cats just had that leadership quality, and the ability to hold their own under pressure. Plus, with his relatively strict attitude, she doubted many cats would question his orders too, which probably helped matters. She wondered if it ever got boring though, having to remain so practical and rational all the time. Surely one needed a little adventure now and then? She thought for a moment at his question, not having really thought about what she was going to do the rest of the day. Normally on a day like today when she hadn't been assigned to any particular patrols, she would just go on her own little hunting trip, sometimes accompanied by her brother. From memory, he was on a patrol today though, so he likely wouldn't be joining her. "Hhm, I was actually thinking of going hunting myself. Perhaps do a little exploring of the city along the way." She always found it interesting wandering the city; there were always new places and things to find. Plus, she always found the walk rather peaceful, despite the noisy backdrop of the city. It may have been something to do with the fact she didn't feel any pressure to be interacting with anyone else. ( .)

(Do you mind if I PM you about something? Don't worry, it's nothing bad)
Stormstrike had always dreamt of being leader one day. The dream had kind of faded away during his apprenticeship, but had come back strong when he finally made it to warrior. The desire was stronger than ever and he knew he'd be a good fit. Of course, that could just be his ego talking. Though he was loyal to Jackdawstar and would never attempt to take the leadership before it was his time, he did have high hopes of being the leader one day. He'd even already began picking out possible deputies and deciding which cats he thought would make a good mentor. Surprisingly, Cherrywhisper was on his mentor list.
Stormstrike nodded. "Did you want to find one or two other cats? I could see if Maplebreeze is free," he said. Both of his sisters were better hunters than him. Though Willowstorm was locked up in the nursery with her kits, he probably shouldn't bring Maplebreeze along with him. She'd just show him up in front of other cats, knowing Stormstrike didn't like that. Of course, what could he do? Especially with other cats around? "Or we could go on our own," he added, thinking it'd be best to skip Maplebreeze.

CHERRYWHISPER | The Fountain | Stormstrike Cherrywhisper had been enjoying their somewhat quiet and calm conversation, so the prospect of another cat joining and potentially spoiling the calm didn't appeal all that much to her. Not that she had anything against anyone in the clan; it was just sometimes she preferred a bit of peace, and her time out hunting tended to be a time for her to relax a bit more. She knew that Maplebreeze could be a tad overbearing at times, particularly when she herself was a bit of a pushover, and while Cherrywhisper knew that the she-cat only meant well, she couldn't help but be slightly relieved when Stormstrike suggested they just go alone. "Let's go on our own. If we happen upon anyone else while we're out, they can join us," she replied, getting to her feet. She actually felt ready for a spot of hunting right now, the cool water of the fountain having re-energised her. Plus she never seemed to doubt herself while hunting, having trust in her instincts and training. It was one of the reasons why she enjoyed it so much. ( .)

"Sounds good," Stormstrike agreed. He climbed to his feet and stretched out his stiff joints before taking one last glance at the fountain. "Let's bring something good home," he suggested. He began walking, but stopped when he saw a butterfly fly past him. He then continued walking. He was the type of cat that didn't have time to slow down and smell the roses. He wanted to get stuff done and relaxing and enjoying his freedom was only done if there was time left at the end of the day. He'd always held himself to a high standard and it was starting to take a toll on him.
Stormstrike's parents had both died shortly after he and his sisters had become Apprentices. His father was sick and his mother was killed by some animal. A dog, Stormstrike would guess. Since then, he'd committed to doing everything he can to protect his sisters, especially now that Willowstorm had kits. He didn't want them to go through the same pain that Stormstrike had gone through. Taking care of them meant that he had to grow up a lot faster than they did. Even as a young warrior, he'd had to work hard to prove to himself that he could take care of his sisters. Those same high standards had followed him through his time as a warrior, and now as a deputy. Yes, the expectations he'd set for himself were weighing down on his shoulders, but he refused to show how much it affected him to anyone else.

[ Aaaaw Stormstrike is lowkey the sweetest, I just wanna give him a hug. ]
CHERRYWHISPER | The Fountain | Stormstrike Cherrywhisper followed close behind him, though paused slightly longer than him to watch the butterfly for an extra second or two. While out hunting in a relaxed environment like this, she liked to stop and admire the beauty in small things in nature. It was her way of keeping her sister's spirit in her life; Fernpaw had always been the 'fun' one of her siblings, and was always dragging them out on adventures once they became apprentices. This normally meant simply walking around and exploring the city, but Fernpaw had a way of pointing out small details that Cherrywhisper would have never otherwise noticed. It was always those small details that made the city feel less like a stone forest for Twolegs and more like a home for them. So she made sure that every now and again, she'd allow herself to become slightly distracted from her duties and pay attention to the world around her. She could just imagine her sister next to her now; Imagine what it'd feel like to fly! she'd say, before going off on a tangent talking about all the things that you would be able to see and experience as a butterfly. Cherrywhisper quickly hurried to catch up to Stormstrike as the butterfly fluttered away, pulling up to walk alongside him. She hoped that he wouldn't criticise her seemingly random pause to watch a butterfly mid-walk, not really wanting to explain why she had stopped. Preserving her sister's memory was a very personal matter to her, and no one but her brother knew of the reasoning behind her determination to appreciate the smaller things in life - though she didn't know if he even fully understood why she did it. She chose not to say anything further to Stormstrike, instead simply enjoying the comfortable silence that had settled between them. ( .)

Jackdawstar sat on the lowest tree branch by the warriors tunnel. He watched his clan go back and forth about their daily activities. Doveheart was resting in a shade after a run in with a dog and Snowfeather was grooming the knots from her coat. Kestrelclaw sat and watched his kits as they tumbled, then he said something that Jackdawstar didn't catch from his distance. Sedgepaw stalked a colourful butterfly into a small patch of long grass, then she dived in after it with all abandon. Rabbitspring lazily dozed under the shade of the tree Jackdawstar sat in. His deputy was off somewhere, and so were a few of the warriors. Everything seemed peaceful with LostClan. Jackdawstar heaved a sigh of relief. It's only a matter of time before something goes wrong... and I hope I'll be able to help my clan through it all. He thought solemnly. A small breeze passed through, it pushed at his dark pelt, and then Jackdawstar jumped down from the tree. He landed next to Rabbitspring, who raised his brown tabby head and yawned.
"I'm going for a wander - I shouldn't be too long. Just going to get some air, clear my head for a bit." The leader said to his warrior friend, and Rabbitspring nodded.
"Okay, have fun," Rabbitspring meowed over a second yawn.
Jackdawstar strode across camp and continued, crossing over a thunderpath, and wandering past the fountain - missing Stormstrike and Cherrywhisper on his way past. He moved towards the parts where the city became less parks and more hard, cold ground that smelled so horrific it could almost make a cat choke. Though, for some reason, Jackdawstar often wandered into these parts. It was hard to say, but a part of his heart felt drawn it. He would pad around - maybe catch a rat or mouse - and head back to camp feeling almost as empty and unsure as before. He slipped past a twoleg with their smaller twoleg - who shrieked loudly at the 'kitty kitty' and he continued further. Until finally... he stopped. He'd gone far enough and he still had to go back yet - if he was gone too long alone others would notice. He stared off into the distance, his amber eyes narrowing. What was out there? With heavy paws, he turned back. His heart was with his clan. But for some reason... the city called to him.

[ Hey there aether, glad you managed to get back home safely, that's the main thing^^ I'm pretty good to be honest, had a relatively relaxing day. Cooking something new for dinner tonight though and I'm nervous about how it'll turn out, it's just in the oven now. How about you?? ]

[ Thanks That's nice ^^ Are you in school? Or working? Or both? Whatcha cooking? I'm good! playing WoW and it's fun.
Also, Waffles and I are doing a bit of a forbidden romance plot between Jackdawstar and Callie - but Callie isn't joining the clan, and they have kits that Jackdawstar brings to the clan that he claims he found (so they don't know he is the father). Did you wanna rp one of their kits when that time comes? Will be a lil while away because the plot has kinda just started. But if you wanted to do that, we can figure out plotlines for the kits who don't know who their family is - but they are actually the leaders kits. ]

Aw sweet! Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what plot we will do with the kits themselves, but basically, Callie and Jackdawstar remain in a 'secret' forbidden relationship and they kind of watch from afar. and eventually Callie does end up joining, but it is kind of too late to just be like 'hey, we're you're parents!'. So we'll see what we can do with that. ]

(Aww thanks. But he's probably claw you if you tried to hug him XD)
Stormstrike almost found himself rolling his eyes when Cherrywhisper took her time to watch the butterfly, but he just slowed his pace a little instead so he didn't get too far ahead of the warrior. He didn't understand why others had to take time for stupid things like that, but he didn't question it the majority of the time. Maybe it was because it reminded him of innocence. He'd worked so hard to protect the innocence of his sisters, so why would he try to punish others for it?
He raised an eyebrow when Cherrywhisper joined him, but he didn't say anything about her little detour. He almost made a snappy remark about how a butterfly wouldn't even feed a kit, but hedidn't want it to be interpreted as criticism, so he kept his mouth shut. He stayed a step or two ahead of her to lead the way through the city. Again, he didn't pause to admire the scenery or enjoy the nice day. He just pushed ahead until he reached a decent hunting spot. "Want to put a bet on it?" he asked. "Whoever catches the least amount of prey has to go on the morning patrol tomorrow," he suggested, knowing that it would likely be him that lost.

Callie had always had a simple life. Being a pampered kittypet, she'd never had to worry about fighting for her life or having enough to eat. The hardest part of her life had been when her siblings had been taken away. She knew most hadn't gone far. She still saw Oliver and Pepper everyday, but it was hard when she didn't get to have them with her all the time like she did when they were young. She'd gotten to stay with her mother, which made it easier, until her mother had died.
She, of course, didn't dislike her life. She had predictability, routine, safety, and bowl full of kittypet slop. She also enjoyed the days she got to wander the city. She never got herself into trouble and as long as she was home before the two legs went to sleep, she was fine. She didn't want to lose this privilege, knowing that it would be very easy for them to cut off her access to the outdoor world.
She watched as the two legs made their way out of the house. Once she was sure they were gone, Callie wasted a few more minutes before leaving through the car door. She leapt up to the top of the fence and looked around over into Oliver's yard. Her brother was in the window and Callie could see hat his twolegs had prevented him from leaving. Disappointed, she jumped to the ground on the other side of the fence and decided to take a walk and see if she could find anything interesting.
She made her rounds through the city, but nothing caught her interest. The kittypet stretched and yawned. She'd found a few friends of hers, but nobody that she had wanted to talk to for more than a few minutes. She'd seen Oliver was locked up, but that didn't explain her other missing friends.
Callie paused as she noticed a strange tom. She knew most of the other kittypets and a few loners, but this tom was unfamiliar to her. She hung back, watching as he stopped and stared into the distance and then turned around. She approached him, her long limbs moving gracefully to catch up to him.
"Excuse me," she asked, slowing down when she caught up to him. She kept pace with the tom, looking at him to see if she'd seen him before. No. Not that she could recall, at least. "Are you lost? I know my way around the city pretty well." She'd lived there her entire life and knew it like the back of her paw. She was fairly confident that she could get the tom to wherever he needed to be.
"I'm Callie, by the way, and I don't think I've seen you around. Are you new here? What's your name?" she asked, tilting her head and looking at the strange tom.

Jackdawstar padded along the dirty, dusty streets. Occasionally he would raise his nose to the air and make sure there was nothing unfamiliar to be worried about - but this was hardly effective. With all the other putrid scents filling the air it was hard to pinpoint just one. So when all of a sudden a cat appeared next to him, he almost jumped out of his fur. He remained cool and composed for her to see, but internally he felt as if he almost had a heart attack. Feeling hot with embarrassment, he took a deep breath of the disgusting air. For a moment he didn't even know what the she-cat had said, until his brain finally caught on.
"I, uh, no I'm not lost," he meowed sheepishly. He looked around - it wasn't easy to distinguish the differences in the city regarding the direction he needed to go, but he was just retracing his steps so it wasn't that hard. He looked the she-cat up and down and noticed her pristine, clean fur and he tilted his head. "I'm not new here - I'm a member of LostClan, my name is Jackdawstar," he responded to her questions, "do you live around here? You look too, uh, pretty to be a street cat?" He blurted that out, and felt like the heat of embarrassment radiating from his pelt would cause it to burst into flames. He didn't correct himself though, he just bent his head sheepishly, and looked at her with his big amber eyes. He never usually interacted with cats from outside of his clan, and usually he only spoke to others on a friend-level. He didn't have much experience with others from outside the clan. Obviously, he had spoken to others before, because there were outsiders who joined his clan, but that was different. That became a part of the clan, they became a part of their big family.

Callie noticed the tom's reaction, or lack of, to her approach. That immediately interested her, knowing that she'd scared many cats by just approaching them before. She tilted her head to listen to him explain himself. "Lostclan?" she asked. "Oh, I think I've heard of that. The group of wild cats out there, right?" she asked. She usually tried to avoid large groups of wild cats like that. She could deal with a single rogue, but a whole group of cats would be too much if they tried to attack her. Of course, she didn't say that to Jackdawstar. She didn't want him thinking that she was immediately classifying him as some bloodthirsty lunatic that would kill her the second he got her alone. Actually, she didn't think any cats were like that. She usually tried to see the best in them until they showed signs of aggression.
She nodded. "I live over down that way a bit," she said, waving her tail in the direction of her house. When he said she was too pretty to be a street cat, she looked away for a moment. Had anyone besides her two legs called her pretty before? "I live with a few two legs," she explained, shrugging her shoulders. "They take care of me." She knew that instantly made her a target. A few friends had told her not to admit she was a kittypet when she met outdoor cats. They would know she was weak and that she wouldn't be able to fight back. She could fight back, just not as well as she knew some of those cats could.
She immediately relaxed when she saw hat Jackdawstar wasn't a threat to her. In fact, it made her want to get to know the tom a bit more. After all, he wasn't outright attacking her and she'd always been interested in that group of cats, Lostclan, but had been too afraid to go and talk to them on her own. Now that she had Jackdawstar alone, she didn't feel as threatened as she would if she had gone to face the entire clan.
(So were supposed to get like nine inches of snow tomorrow and I'm just hoping classes will be cancelled)

CHERRYWHISPER | Small Park | Stormstrike
Cherrywhisper ignored Stormstrike's questioning glance, keeping her gaze focused ahead of them as they walked through the city. She made sure to keep an eye and ear out for any signs of danger, but the city seemed rather docile at this time of day, with not as many Twolegs out and about. Still, every so often she made sure to inhale all the scents around her, filtering through them to make sure there were no threats about. Despite being on high alert, she enjoyed the warn sun on her pelt as they walked; it really was a nice day today.
The pair soon reached a relatively small patch of greenery in the middle of all the concrete walls of the city, and while the park was on the small side, Cherrywhisper could still detect traces of prey underlying the stench of the Twolegs' monsters' fumes. "Sure, I'm always up for a challenge," she responded, tail twitching in anticipation. Almost as soon as she said that, she detected the scent of a squirrel in the air, and her eyes immediately scanned the area to locate it. Seeing it just below a large tree near the middle of the park, she silently gestured with her tail towards it, before dropping into a crouch and stealthily making their way forward. Luckily, they were already downwind of the animal, so it hadn't detected the threat just yet.
