Do you guys think Jessy was pointless? I personally think she was. She was kind of similar to Squirrelflight (especially when the latter was younger), and it felt like she was really just there to make Bramblestar realize he still loved Squirrelflight deep down. It also doesn't help that Bramblestar would've chosen Squirrelflight even if Jessy had stayed anyway, and it also felt pretty late in the series to give him a love triangle.

yes all three of them were useless. Especially Stormcloud. At least Jessy was part of Bramblestar's story, and Minty sort of helped with Millie's development, but Stormcloud is just... there. The only thing I can remember about him is that his brother died and he was implied to have a crush on Cherryfall, and even that has yet to go anywhere.

The only one I really liked was Minty...she reminded me of Daisy before she got adjusted to the forest. I'd have loved to see Minty's overreacting self in the Clan these days. But that darn background treatment would make her irrelevant and boring, so meh. Stormcloud was mildly interesting, but the only good thing he's done since he joined is bring new blood to the Clan. I suppose I'd keep him around for that much.
On the Jessy front, uGH. I don't even see what she did for the story. She was literally the perfect character from what I remember. It was somehow simultaneously boring and infuriating to read scenes with her. She was annoyingly pushy, like when she told the other cats to not wake Bramblestar up -- technically reasonable, but he's Clan leader, ffs, and what authority did she have? -- or when she broke into Bramblestar's conversation with Daisy, who was confronting him about his dumb decision to fight the badgers, or how she offered to teach Spiderleg's apprentice a battle move just 'cause Bramblestar showed her how to do it, like, once. Those are just off the top of my head. It's just so weird how she'd almost make decisions and/or speak for Bramblestar, and he'd just let her?? I kinda thought it was funny, because he was so disgusted by that same behavior back in Twilight, whenever Ashfur tried to talk for Squirrelflight. I disliked Jessy a lot and was so glad she left. It just kinda bugged me that she shoved her nose in Clan affairs, acting like she had been there the whole time and knew the ins/outs of the Clan, and that she was a senior warrior or deputy (well...she is deputy, in another life I guess, being washed out Squirrelflight).
Sorry for the rant lol it's been a while since a character irritated me, especially since a better version (Squirrelflight) was there all along.

Mayflower, I feel like Stormcloud was more pointless, but Jessy was certainly more irritating, which is why I like him and Minty more. But anyway, I agree. Everything you said is what irritated me about Jessy, and also why she's my least favorite character next to Sleekwhisker. And it's a shame because I think she did have the potential to be a good character if she weren't so irritating. It's funny how Bramblestar was annoyed with Squirrelflight in TNP, but Jessy shares many traits with her and is somehow more annoying. And this is coming from someone who actually liked Squirrelflight in TNP.

I did like the tiny storyline about Stormcloud's brother, because we hadn't seen anything like that before, but perhaps he should've left to be a loner with Jessy. So far, we've only had one scene with him in the new series, and we're now on book five... The whole time I read the book, this was exactly what I was thinking. I had come to like Squirrelflight's character from PO3 and on, and while she isn't on my list of top ten favorite characters, I enjoy reading her scenes, and since I reread TNP, I've become more fond of her than I was before. She didn't deserve that treatment with the BrambleJessySquirrel triangle. It was almost insulting, imo. Everything Jessy did embodied the character version of Squirrelflight that I wasn't fond of pre-Twilight and onward.

Yes. Jessy was absolutely pointless. I don't think she should of had a love interest w Bramblestar.

The only one I actually liked was Minty. Imo I really wish she had stayed, I kinda liked how the clan teased her about Thornclaw eating her, lol. I actually would have preferred Thorn x Minty over what we actually got tbh...Sometimes I forget Stormcloud even exist and Jessy is a down right plot device, the Erins didn't even deny that.

UGH! Jesse was so pointless! I understand that they were trying to give Bramblestar a love triangle but it just didn't work. To be honest I really didn't like much of Bramblestar's Storm because of it. The kittypets were annoying and what happened to Stormcloud?

I'm I guess okay with Jessy, I don't love her or hate her, but she was pretty cliche and like a Mary-Sue. At one point I thought that she was such a 'perfect' cat that I almost wanted Squirrelflight to be more like her again. (That idea's obviously crazy especially since Jessy acted like a kit when she's grown) but generally she was not really interesting, only when she was put with Bramblestar. I kinda intrigued to see what would happen between them, but once I read it, it turned out worse than I expected. She was literally only there to cause drama and love triangles, and since she was there for the majority of the book, it got old really fast. I was actually starting to like Bramblestar more (he's not a favorite of mine) but the Jessy thing made he dislike him a little more, which is for a bad reason. If they didn't add all of that love drama--which was VERY random--I may have respected him more, but since he was pretty much considering taking Jessy instead of his life-long mate and Starclan's omens/prophecies being the reason he stayed with Squirrelflight...eh.

I totally agree! By making Bramblestar go through all that pointless drama I really did think it lessened him as a character. Also because you get all of that insight as to him wanting to be just like Firestar, it just makes him annoying. I dont think that book did him any justice.

Jessy was definitely pointless. She served as a one-off stereotypical "spunky nonsterotypical kittypet" character that abruptly left and hasn't been seen since, although that's certainly for the best.

She was a CLONE of Squirrelflight, and she acted like she'd been in the Clans for years when she had only just arrived. She wasn't that bad, just annoying and kind of pointless. I hated how she kept interrupting Bramblestar when he was trying to talk to Squirrelflight. The whole love triangle thing was a totally random and unnecessary plot device. Which made Jessy into a random plot device too. I probably would have liked her if she wasn't a clone of Squirrelflight and if she hadn't loved Bramblestar.
