I wouldn't know if it were actually a case of demonic possession or not, but man, it freaked me out.

You can call me whatever, but Bat works great. And I'll admit, I've never actually talked to people who have said they've seen demons. Hi. I'm Elle. I've seen, heard, dreamed of and basically just been terrorized by demons since I was three years old. How are you?

Online homework is . Other than being terrorized by demons, how are you? If you don't mind me asking, what do you actually see/hear? I'd imagine it's more of a background, sensing them kind of thing, but I wouldn't know.

I'm good. Enjoying a night off to rest. See: Shifting shadows complete with a bone chilling feeling to accompany them Black humanoid silhouettes , shadows where shadows shouldn't be Sometimes a very detailed figure still black but with either no face or a terrifying face Hear: Hissing whispers of my name Terrifying bellows A weird voice that sounds like a bunch of deep voices together These vary depending on where I am and if I'm awake or asleep

It's statics and structures stuff, and solving a million system of equations while doing so. It's more tedious and time consuming than anything.
One of my professors might be a demon then, he has the deepest, most soothing voice you could imagine, I'm pretty sure the walls of the auditorium vibrate from the deepness of his voice, not even kidding.
But back to actual demons, that is pretty concerning. Are there no places or people you could talk to about them for advice?

Boy I missed a lot. Anyway @jester: That's awesome! I love LifeWay, but the one near me closed down a while ago sadly. Got a bunch of clearance stuff for super-cheap just before it went though On ouija boards: Stay the heck away from them, everyone. I have never heard a positive story about those. Messing with demons is a massive no-no. I, thankfully, have never had a demonic experience, and I fully intend to keep it that way. Saint Ambrosef: Please do tell! e11e: Well, that sucks. If you haven't firmly and verbally rebuked them in the name of Jesus Christ, do that, and do it every time they show up afterwards. Assuming you've already tried that, though, keep doing it, but does your house have, like, any history of dark spiritual activity that you know of? Edit: And also remember that they're all bark and no bite. They may be trying to scare you, but they can't actually harm you.

Gross. I have a learning disability thats like dyslexia for numbers so that sounds positively horrible. Yeesh. Eh. I have. People either blow me off and say theres no such thing (uh hello what did Jesus say about it?). Or they tell me the only thing they can ofFer is I cant be possessed as a Christian. Or that demons don't bother real Christians. pssh please all of that is false

Minus the being possessed part. I know there's no room for a demon when the Spirit is in you

I've seen an unfortunate amount of Christians claim that demons aren't real, saying that they were just metaphors or misunderstandings of epilepsy and other sicknesses. Pretty sure epilepsy doesn't give people super-strength or make them scream in terror at the sight of God's Son.

Ummm idk really...not sure what this house has gone through. Yeah I think about that. It's super scary but I try to remember nothing can happen if I have Christ

Curious as to you guys' opinions. How much of a link do you believe there is between mental illness and demonic influence, if any?

i've never seen one, actually, just heard and felt the presence of.
but, i do believe that they can be linked. how much, i don't know. i believe cases of possession are mistaken for mental illness, but common mental illnesses like anxiety? i think that if demons are around they can make them worse, but i don't know if they go out of their way to influence them.

I don't really think that there is much of a link between mental illnesses and demonic influence.

On one hand, I'm inclined to think that mental illness is just a natural byproduct of humanity's fallen nature (as are physical sicknesses), but like @bolderpelt said, I do think that some instances of demonic influence could be mistakenly determined as mental illness.
On the other hand, I'm thinking that, while mental illnesses may be natural, demons could possibly work through them to further distract the person from God. For example, when I was suicidal, my mind was so clouded that most of the time, I couldn't be bothered to think of God. I've sometimes wondered if that were the case.
I don't think every instance is automatically demonic, of course. But maybe sometimes. I don't know.

Curious as to you guys' opinions. How much of a link do you believe there is between mental illness and demonic influence, if any? I think it's hard to tell the difference between a mental illness and demonic influence in many cases, but we should definitely never go around accusing people of having demons if there's any doubt whatsoever. I've read a lot of horror stories from people with mental illnesses whose churches tried to exorcise them and did a lot of damage to their sanity. We've gotta be careful, but at the same time, we do sometimes disregard the spiritual side of things too much. I think demons can certainly take advantage of and agitate mental illnesses, though.

I didn't mean to imply that mental illness was a direct result of demonic possession. Just wondering if anyone thought that occasionally, it did play some role.

I mean, for those who I don't know, I'm not a believer at all, but I also don't think it's fair to dismiss anyone's claim of seeing something supernatural or heavenly. With that note, I guess there could be a link between demonic influence and mental illness, but I can't say which one would be affecting the other.

I agree with Treestar. I've been accused of possession before and it ticked me off so much I left the church. So yeah do not under any circumstance treat someone who is mentally ill like they are demonized.

Just wondering if anyone though that occasionally, it did play some role. yeah Satan definitely messes with my illnesses as he does with anyone else's mental processes but I think that it's part of what God designed me to be so I in no way think it's strictly up to Satsn. Does that make sense?

I don't think we should consider an exorcism unless, like, the demons are readily making themselves known. Most cases, I firmly believe, are just natural illnesses and can likely be treated with therapy, medication and faith (I managed to overcome my depression fully with those three things; I do know, though, that I could not have gotten over my depression without God. I could not have been relieved of my emotional burdens without complete reliance on Him).

Makes perfect sense, e11e. Sorry again if what I said angered you - I didn't mean for it to come across that way, and I commend you for your strength. That's a lot to deal with.

Like, if people have glowing red eyes and are levitating while cursing God backwards in Latin, it's probably a safe assumption that they're possessed. But if it's not that explicit, we need to err on the side of caution and not assume that people are possessed.

Im not angry at all. Sorry I'm tired and when I'm tired my posts come across rude. So sorry;( it's never my intent to sound rude. Thanks. That means a lot. It gets really tiring and really frustrating. All I want is to be normal. To be neurotypical. But I believe its for a reason
