welp who cares about reputation anyway lol I only do in that it affects this thread. If others see me as intolerant and see that I post here, they may be hesitant to join the conversation. I want to show love in every way possible, but I won't compromise my beliefs. That's my issue. That's not an issue at all. Refusing to compromise your beliefs under pressure isn't a problem, it's a sign of real strength. As far as I can tell, you were being perfectly loving and reasonable. People wanna think you're intolerant for expressing your opinion? So be it.

I used to get like huge bacon pizzas with extra cheese from Domino's when I was a kid
Ah, gluttony.
I feel like Domino's has gotten a lot worse though. I had some a few months ago after not having any for years and didn't like it at all. Maybe my taste buds have just changed.

i think so? i was talking to the one person on there i'm friends with, so i didn't really read through. i'm sorry you got screamed at. Nah, it's fine. I'm used to it. Logic doesn't apply in that subject... it's all feelings. Because that's what it is. The fact of the matter is, if you do not believe in God, you do not believe in objective morality. What's 'right' or 'wrong' or 'good' or 'bad' is dependant completely on your personal opinion. Others can, will, and are allowed to disagree. That's how it works, God bless America. Edit: Caught myself. If you do not believe in A god. People can use the law as a basis for their actions. In other cases people can be in a religion that doesn't follow a God in the first place but still has set values and beliefs. And on the other side of things, just because someone believes in the Christian God, or any God, doesn't mean they still don't have personal opinions on moral subjects. Anyone who can think on their own is going to have an opinion on right vs. wrong. I also don't understand what objective morality fully is. There's loads of ways to describe it.

Objective morality is basically a universal set of rules that everyone agrees on. Whereas subjective morality is what one person believes to be rules.

@spottedstar3137
With that definition alone, objective morality doesn't exist in humanity then. Subjective morality seems to be brushed off to the side here a little too easily.
@jester
All those basic actions can be judged off of what we're born to believe. Just because Christians believe that they're God is absolutely correct doesn't make it correct. It sounds arrogant when it's stated by any representative of a religion, "Our religion is the objective truth...because it is." That's a belief, that's an opinion.
I have to agree while disagreeing at the same time, let me try to explain. Humans have their morality shaped and made from what they are taught, their life experiences, their genetics, parental influence and influence from every person they meet, and of course spiritual influence. Those are all factors that helps determine what someone believes is right or wrong, and it's why it can change for any individual as time passes. There are some laws that humans, as humans, just know are wrong.
Maybe I'm on a different page here, but the reason I said anything was because of the LGBT debate going on. I tend to disagree with just about every post made on this website concerning the subject other than that I don't think there's a problem to it. There's the assumptive statement: "Christians think being gay/lesbian is wrong because the Bible says so." I think, and I certainly hope, that there's more to it than that.
"all you have is your opinion or the opinion of others." Yes, which is all anyone has. Society has developed natural laws and laws based of what we believe is right. And if people believe a particular god has the true, objective morality, they developed their own opinion based off of of something else.

I'd argue about us being perfectly made, but that's a whole other thing there. I also don't believe any god exists, and I have a disliking towards religion in general. But I don't want to go into that.
The statement that we were made to be to be male x female doesn't seem to be founded by anything other than what's inside people's pants. I can't give any facts on it, but I do think it's a true statement that more than two gay couples have genuinely loved each other, more so than just as 'neighbors'. It's perfectly natural for them to love, to lust, and to act upon that lust together as long as both consent.
And it isn't God or the Bible or any religion that keeps the world in any kind of order. That's what government, laws, rules, the people who enforce the rules, judges, lawyers, police, military, and others do. Everyone in the world could have a Bible, but without government and laws, and real, living people to enforce it, it'd be completely useless.
Also, God kills many people according to the Bible, children and adults alike. it's murder, which instantly becomes much less black and white, that is wrong. But that's just a specific wording thing. Just because it's in the Bible doesn't mean it's the Bible that created the laws.
"There would be no morality without God's law." I'll assume you meant the Christian God in this case. I completely disagree. There are acts, such as murder, stealing, etc, that are inherently wrong because it's logical to be wrong according to any human that isn't insane. We just know it to be true. If some people think God is responsible for it, that's fine. On a personal level, I see no reason to.

I agree that people's beliefs and personal lives shouldn't be attacked or shot down, which is basically what happens all the time when threads about LBGT are made on here, on both sides of the argument. It's unfortunate because I like debating about stuff like this, it's fun and educational.
There's nothing we can do about our differences in religious views, so yea, we're stuck there.
I agree that our government is full of corruption, and that the laws have problems, and the enforcing of them is a whole other issue in itself. However, for the U.S. specifically, people tend to take the security and rights we do have for granted. Not saying nothing needs to be done about the other bs.
However, a big part of society today is believing that society is wrong and bad and full of evil. Which is the biggest problem. It's disgusting to see. Yes there's evil, but when someone has the balls to ask, "What should we do about it?", people tend to shy away and just ask like nothing ever happened, then start complaining again about how much the world sucks. I'll repeat myself, it's disgusting.

Totally agree! I love seeing where everyone stands in a calm and peaceful manner.
Totally agree. People think that our country is horrible and while some parts of it could be better, we all have rights that many countries do not.
Again, agree with ya. Society is not all evil. Yeah some people are gonna be awful, but assuming that everyone is bad is just not.productive.

I'm not sure exactly what my spiritual gift is, but I know I really like animals and that's about it.
@jester nah you're fine. I'll still be coming here every day and yeah it could be used to witness but that's not seeming to happen....so we can just come here and relax. I understand you, hating is awful and I may feel irritation and annoyance toward others (because I'm so hotheaded) but I don't hate anyone. If we hate people, we're no better than the criminals that REALLY hate people.

reading over the last page, here's my input in objective morality: How is it that non-theists can still hold similar moral beliefs to theists? How do people just /know/ something is wrong? Consciences. It's that simple. God gave us all a moral compass in the form of a conscience to guide us into understanding right from wrong.

So...... Who wants to discuss how God changed from a moody war god among many gods into the one peaceful god of Judaism!? 8D dont judge him he went through a moody rebel stage okay?? we've all be there
On a more serious note, it all has to do with the different covenants God established with figures in the Old Testament (e.g. his covenants with Adam, Abraham, Joseph, etc.)

That's the word I've been forgetting. Conscience. You say God gave us all consciences, but in my opinion, humans developed a moral compass and a conscience over time. Many of theose basic laws are necessary to our survival.

So...... Who wants to discuss how God changed from a moody war god among many gods into the one peaceful god of Judaism!? 8D Elaborate? Judaism was once polytheistic, but overtime the God Yahweh, who was basically Semitic Aries, became the sole God of Judaism, and then became peaceful.
