This is the one important question that some of us will have slightly different answers with regard to the technicalities methinks xD #John 6 #Baptism #onetruesandwichcookie? jkEtc But I mean if your up for some of us ranting we can still do this x3 But, regardless, I think you should make three rules for yourself: Love God with all heart mind and soul, love neighbor as yourself,Matthew 22:36-40, and love truth more than life no matter where it takes you John 14:6 & 18:37 That would be the first step that I think we can all agree on. You can't really go wrong with that ^^ It might take a long while to perfect or even do it adequately , but after awhile the struggle will taste sweet. No matter how many times you fall, just dust yourself off and get back up again. God will help you with this, don't worry. There is an account about the early church when new Christinans would come up to John and ask him to teach them what they needed to know and everytime he would just say "Love one another" Eventually they got him to write the gospel though, but the point is, Gods first requisite is to love or have Charity/agape specifically (Agape in the greek which means unconditional love and is distinct from Eros or Philia) that is formed by truth. Love cannot exist without truth and vice versa. And the more you love in this way, the more you know God. And the more you know God, the closer your are to heaven. 🆉🅴🅻🅳🆁🅸🆂 Sorry I edited my post slightly I wrote this initially between classes XD But same thing

As long as you believe Jesus died for you and rose from the dead, you are saved c: Of course, it is important to stay devoted and follow the faith and study your Bible daily and just stay in contact with God. But all you really have to do is believe, at least according to my non denominational Christianity.

As Meg and Ted have said, it depends on who you ask. There's some debate between the denominations on what all is required in order to be "saved." Generally, there are two sides: the primarily Catholic, which is that you must believe and be baptized; and also the protestant view, which is that you only need to earnestly believe Christ is the Messiah. So if you truly wish to come back to the Christian faith, you'll have to make some decisions regarding what denomination's principles you find to be the most truthful. But we can all agree that you must at least accept Christ as your savior from sin. (There's no formal declaration or anything, you just gotta believe it). For now, I would do as Ted suggested and pick up a Bible. I don't know much about your background; maybe you read it when you were a young Methodist, maybe it was rarely opened at your house. Regardless, Christianity is based on the revelations of Holy Scripture-- so what better place to start than the original source of it all? St. Jerome is famous for his quote: "Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ." In order to really know who He is and believe in him, you have to understand exactly who he is. Be mindful. Some Biblical books are harder to understand than others. Here's my suggestions. (Under the cut because it's long, and IDK if you'll actually use it) The beginning is always a good place to start. You have to understand that Christianity is firmly rooted in the history of God's original chosen people, the Israelites. Some parts of Christianity, and by extension what Christ later commanded of us, makes more sense if you understand the history of the Jewish people.
The Old Testament is divided into four genres of literature: wisdom, historical, prophetic, and the Pentateuch. The Pentateuch is the first five books. Start there. Genesis is the original creation of the world, the fall of man, and genealogy. Exodus is how the Jews became the chosen people. Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy all document the specific laws of Judaism that set them apart from the polytheistic society around them.
Now to be clear, all books in the Bible are important. But some are easier to digest at first than others, or more "vital" for immediate understanding. Psalms is perfect for learning how to put your trust in God and show Him adoration. Wisdom and Proverbs are also some of my favorites.
Next I would jump to the New Testament and take a gander at the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). They all tell similar accounts and stories of Christ, but from different perspectives, and generally with different audiences in mind. For instance, Matthew's writing was a polished, semitic Greek, indicating high learning; he also focuses a lot on the Divine Nature of Jesus. This suggests he was writing specifically for the Jewish POV, for whom these things would be appreciated. Luke wrote a lot on Marian stories. And so on.
I think the easiest thing is to simply read the scripture first, and absorb the words. Know the words. Then go back another time and re-read it with the intention of figuring out the deeper meaning. Another difference between Catholic and Protestant perspectives is that the latter tends to take Scripture at a more literal meaning than the former. But don't worry about that right now, just read it and let the words sink in. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to come ask us. We love discussing Biblical text. "Why are there two creation stories?" "Why did it take the Hebrews 40 years to cross the dessert?" "What does this line of Psalms mean?" We're happy to help. Most of us have had the benefit of religious education, so we'll do our best. But honestly, my most important advice is to just pray. If you haven't done it in awhile, it might feel awkward at first. That's okay. God doesn't mind. He'll be so glad you're talking to him that he won't mind. Start off small, just tell him about your day. Maybe something you struggled with this past week. Ask for guidance. Try a basic formatted prayer, like the Our Father of Glory Be, if you're struggling. Prayer is just a conversation. That's where all relationships start.

Guys, one of my church class teachers is crazy
She made us write out an entire section of the Doctrine and Covenants, which was super long. Like, as in so long my pencil ran out of lead half way through. And then we had to copy five more things from the New Testament and Book of Mormon.
My wrist felt like it was on fire. I think I hate note taking.

Can you guys pray for me? My dad got arrested last night, and there's a possibility he could be in jail for several years. This has created a lot of problems for my family, and now my grandma wants to get rid of my cats. I'm very upset over all of this, and I could just use prayers. Prayers that maybe my dad will get out quickly. Prayers that my family can figure out a solution to all the problems my dad going away has caused. And prayers that I can keep my cats. Thanks

im writing an essay for theology due tomorrow on the documentary hypothesis and one of the questions we're supposed to answer in it is "Does the Documentary Hypothesis accord with principles expressed in Dei Verbum 11-13? Explain."
the problem is im not really sure what the Dei verbum is and only heard the title being thrown about vaguely in class. and it says 11-13 but all i can find of it online is up to chapter vi. so....

I might be too late on this, but I think it meant sections 11-13 (some of the paragraphs have numbers. 11-13 is Chapter 3)

*pops in* Im so happy to see everyone is still here. Im sorry for not being on, I've just been caught up in anxiety and school but it's better now.
Updates on everything. My mom has been living with us for a while now. My family has gone back to our old church, they have a new pastor and everything is looking up. I should become an official member soon. You can become a member at 16 but we left when I was like 15, usually children of members are "adopted" into the church (Idk if that's the right word), but if your parents are members, you just become a member when you turn 16. However for me, it's a little odd, I live with my grandparents and they are my official guardians, I could possibly become adopted into the church but it seems like I'll have to take classes and speak in front of everyone. Im pretty nervous that I have to do that. Im in my second week of school now, Im a senior. The first week was terrible, the first day my dog ended up passing away during the night. It's still really hard but we knew it was coming. And then a few days later I found out I didn't get this certain class I wanted. Remember me complaining about my teacher last year for my out of school program? Turns out, once your in for the program with a specific teacher for a year, they don't allow you to switch. I honestly started crying when I found out I couldn't switch, I didn't want to go back because the teacher knew that we ALL tried switching and she almost yelled at my friend last year. I didn't want to go back to a class where the teacher possibly hated me. Everything actually kind of ended up working out and I was able to get into Game Design and Financial Literacy. Also please pray for my grandpa (not the one I live with). I found out that he's in the hospital. He got bit by a mosquito and it gave him spinal meningitis causing him to become paralyzed in his lower legs. I don't know if I mentioned it before, but my uncle had a stroke a few months ago. He's actually doing the best he can be right now with therapy and everything. Im sad that the only connection that I have to that side of my family is through my dad and I don't even speak to him all that much. I honestly would have never known about my grandpa if I hadn't been trying to contact my dad because I was worried about him, because he lives in Houston, Texas. My dads okay by the way.
I hope everyones doing well. It's great to see you're back Ted!!
Also btw, I am nondenominational protestant. I noticed someone had asked earlier.
