I don't usually hear cool traditional music like that, since I go to a "modernized" church. I've been to an Episcopal church a few times though, and it's always really cool to hear and sing the hymns.

So Tree decided that it would be a good idea to have a little chat with the only survivors of the Heaven's Gate suicide cult via their support email, in hopes of maybe talking to them about Christ and sowing the seeds for the Holy Spirit to move later on. (Yes, a couple of people were left behind by the suicide cult for the purpose of servicing their support email.) The people are surprisingly nice and normal, even if they have some pretty bizarre beliefs. They're not recruiting anyone, which is good, because we don't want another mass suicide. They're not very wordy, though. Hard to get them to open up about anything. And honestly, their beliefs about Jesus and God (outlined at heavensgate.com, which is also still in service 17 years later) are so far out from anything I've encountered before that I'm having a hard time figuring out how to share the Gospel with them. As always, I definitely don't want to be intrusive or try to force my beliefs on them. Any ideas?

I'm on the main worship team at my church and am living with the worship leader's family(which is an interesting thing all on its own), We play a mix between modernized hymns to stuff like Hillsong Young and Free, to a number of other genres of Christian music. I just wish we didn't use tracks as often as we do

I'm doing well And to answer your other question I knew the wife and daughters(went to high school with the older) of the family in Las Vegas before the wife and husband got married and then a little while later they moved to Washington. And then after I graduated high school I had plans to enlist and did, but didn't go to basic cause of policies changing on people who did any alternative schooling, i.e. Home school or online school, so I ended up moving up to live with them to help pay rent and stuff. They'd been renting out to other people they knew through the church communities up here and people kept flaking out so here I am a year later It's definitely an interesting life

Cool. I've always wanted to have a Christian topic thread. I'm Baptist (though I've spent nearly all my life in a Methodist church, I feel like I never got to learn as much about God than I have this last two years being in our Baptist Church. Being 13 years a Methodist and in two different churches, I struggled learning through all of my Sunday schools and understanding the Bible. They never really talked about hell, or what is sinful, because they believed that no matter what, God will forgive you. I'd never read the bible, except on Sundays if we had one verse to learn, which wasn't enough. Now, being inspired by our preacher in our tiny baptist church, I've been reading my bible everyday, and have been learning new things and I'm excited to read and learn about it. I'm in Romans, right now.)

Fool: Church was pretty good, we had one of our elder speak today as our pastor has been having health issues.

I've had another dizzy spell, so I've felt pretty meh all morning. I'm the assistant teacher for the children's class, so we went over the story of Soloman and Adonijah today. The kids in this class are absolutely amazing. They're wise beyond their years. I adore them. That sucks, here's hoping you get better soon! That's really cool that you're an assistant teacher. I love teaching people about the Bible (in an informal setting), but for some reason I've started worrying that I'll dispense false information by accident because of a fluke of memory or something, so I haven't been doing it as much. Good for you, teaching the kids!

After reading more about it, I learned that what they were teaching in our past churches wasn't the way God would want the Bible to be taught. Our old churches liked to talk more about politics than the bible... :/

Better to teach the Bible and let the churchgoers make an informed, prayerful decision based off what the Bible says.

Speaking of teaching, I've been asked to teach the younger kids Sunday school again. I taught it this past year and if I teach again, I'll have to quit worship team. There's so much stress with that unfortunately

My pastor started taking a huge stance against politics in church. People actually left in the middle of church because he preached against those kinds of churches and the importance of knowing the truth

Good for you, teaching the kids! Oh, me too. My father is a pastor and we have a Bible study group that meets every Sunday night. It's such a relaxed, educational, and interesting experience. We have people attending who've been church members for thirty years or more and they've learned things in the past few months that they never had even heard before. And all we're doing is reading straight from the Bible. We have a lot of debate and discussion. We've had an atheist attend a few times; he's one of my closest friends now, so I'm used to answering to skeptics, haha. That sounds really cool. I haven't connected with anyone in my current church to that extent yet. I switched to it like eight months ago but my family hasn't really melded into the community yet. It's a pretty big church, so that's understandable. That's really cool about your atheist friend attending, too. Hopefully he learned some things and you guys learned things from him too.
