What weird things did you guys think about the Bible when you were kids? I remember that I was absolutely terrified by Revelation. I didn't know anything about it except that it had something to do with the end of the world, and I didn't know about the symbolism in it, so I guess I took everything in it literally, which confused the heck out of me (what's up with those lamps? Why the heck does Jesus have seven eyes? etc). The ominous way Revelation is worded in general was pretty scary for young me, but there were also a lot of specific things. The beasts coming out of the ocean and ground scared the crap out of me, for one thing. For another, I somehow got the impression that the four living creatures were meant to represent what happens to Christians after they die. I didn't want to have six wings and weird faces and just sit there saying the same thing over and over again forever without stopping. The description of Jesus also scared me- I didn't remember anyone ever telling me that He had seven horns and seven eyes, which seemed like a pretty significant detail. All the stuff about His judgement ("wrath of the Lamb", "robe dipped in blood", "fury of the wrath of God Almighty", "the nations will mourn because of Him", etc.) was also pretty terrifying and confusing, because they don't really talk much about God's wrath and judgement in Sunday school. The cherry on top is that I somehow got the impression that you weren't allowed to talk about the Mark of the Beast or the number 666, or you'd automatically go to hell, so I was constantly terrified of accidentally saying something about it out loud. (I suspect that this came from a mixture of the description of what happens to those who take the mark and the fact that I'd heard "you're not supposed to use the number 666" somewhere.)
Also, I always heard "sin entered the world when Adam and Eve ate the fruit", and I imagined sin as this black powdery substance lurking in space near Earth, just waiting for some invisible force field to be broken so that it could streak in and do bad stuff.

I remember asking my mom "What does it mean 'Adam knew his wife?'" in the middle of a church service.

Hey y'all! I have good news for everyone concerning my situation. Godly intervention.
My sister in-law told my parents and they arranged for a family counseling session. So I got out of work early and my dad picked me up and asked me if I was willing to go to one. We went to our pastor's house and he asked me if there was anything uncomfortable about the situation that I wanted removed, I told him my brother and sister in-law. After that we sat down in their living room and it was so hard to talk but God opened our hearts and I told them so much about who I am and what I've been through that has had such a huge affect on my life. Now I have never seen my dad cry once in my entire life, but that night I saw him breakdown. I swear you could almost hear the walls crashing down around us. It's messy and it's scary, but God is leading my family down a path we've never been down before. This morning, my dad and I skipped church and spent the day looking at colleges and phones together, just having real conversation.
Keep praying for peace and grace as we walk through this as a family, but praise be to God for the miracle He's working in my life

So what do you guys think about Matthew 27:52-53
It's frickin weird
All those saints got resurrected and appeared to a bunch of people... and then what? Did they die again? Ascend into heaven? And it says that they came back to life during Jesus' death, but only came out of their tombs when He was resurrected, so were they just chilling in there for three days? If Jesus is the firstfruits of the dead, how does that mesh with a bunch of saints getting resurrected three days before Him? And why the heck did none of the Bible writers ever mention freaking Night of the Living Saints again? So many questions about that passage.
Edit: Upon further research, it appears that the proper translation is, "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many," which suggests that they were actually resurrected after Jesus. That answers two of my questions. This passage is so confusing I kind of love it.

Splintercat - That definitely is an interesting but strange passage. It's something worth talking about, definitely. Honestly, that passage has always confused me... I might have to ask my youth pastor about it on Wednesday.
Oh, I am so excited for my youth group's costume party. I'm thinking about going as the human gender-bend of a Transformer (don't ask). I already have some ideas for the costume, and I'm so hyped. <3
I wanted to put a pixel pumpkin in my signature, but I couldn't remember how to do a pumpkin... so I googled for pictures of pumpkins. This was one of the top results.

I've dealt with bratty kids for most of my life...and my two nieces are a couple of those brats. If kids were raised better then I would like them. Well-disciplined kids are very few in number. Me nephews are super sweet and well-behaved 'cause they have good parents. The oldest (almost 3) is comedically over-dramatic. L ike, when something doesn't go his way, he doesn't cry. He lays face-down on the floor like there's no point in living anymore. He's hilarious lol
Lol! You're lucky. My neices' mom raised them pretty terribly.(she also slept with a total of six men in her life. -_-) I like describing them as tornadoes. Plus their mom and dad are divorced and their dad married my sister... I think even they can't do anything to make the girls behave.

We use a site called rabbi.t to stream it in a private online "room", and we take it as an opportunity to describe Christian undertones or possible parallels. By vote, we're watching the first Narnia movie tonight.
Btw, I don't know if I can make it. I have a lot of work to do today. I might be able to stream it, since I've used it before and there's no reason I can't set it up for y'all while I do my homework. I just might not be able to watch it.
